650ml silver waxed bomber poured into tulip 4/1/14 from notes

A black with a deep cola edge, large mocha foam ends up a little soapy around the edges with an island in the middle that's a little more compact, lots of random lace deep down the glass

S plum, chocolate covered raisins, mild woody bourbon, vanilla, some char and booze

T more smokey bourbon, bakers chocolate, some more char and bourbon, the plums slightly sour and some sweet burnt toffee

M medium full, the bubbles fluff it up a bit, faint tannins, lots of char nd bourbon on the finish and just a little heat

O another solid Eclipse, well rounded with lots of barrel and almost to much charred wood, well concealed booze much like all the 2013"s I've had, not my favorite but great nonetheless

I can't say this ones worth 30$ but its tasty stuff, good beer to drink at 8am watching World Junior Hockey, got us out to a great start

As soon as I cut through the wax and opened the bottle the aromas of this wonderful beer filled the room. Its subtle hints of the fantastic whisky from which it had been aged made most of its appearance in the aroma and aftertaste. This beer flat out knocks your taste buds to the ground and allows you to pick them up once the ride of flavor has finished making its way through the back of your tongue. This beer is both rich in texture and aroma allowing you to enjoy every sip as though it was a new. Worth every penny of the $30 price tag.

This is a Legendary beer period! anyone who sells this short is in my opinion out of there mind. I have had many Legendary beers and this is up there with the best. The beer pours a small head, the aroma is roasted bourbon and the taste is flat out amazing. A subtle Makers Mark bourbon taste with a very solid stout back bone makes this Makers Mark beast a true treat. Kudos to 50/50 as this is one of the best I have had and yes the honey is present making it just that good!

Bottom Line: Legendary beer!

2013 Vintage
11.9% ABV

Appearance: Very dark brown bordering on black with a modest dark beige head that slowly faded.

Smell: Mild Bourbon, brown sugar , and mild coffee/roasted malt aromas. Nice smelling but not overly complex.

Taste: Bourbon, roast malts, vanilla, brown sugar and tannic oak notes. The finish is fairly dry featuring Bourbon notes, prominent roast malt notes and mild hop notes. This variant isn't as sweet as some of the other Eclipses I've had . Very restrained alcohol presence.

Mouth-feel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation.

Overall: Good beer. Interestingly, this version probably the least sweet of all the variants I've had. It's very much a prototypical stout with a prominent roasted malt profile.

2013 vintage.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, and bourbon aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, earth, char, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some great bourbon forward smells, but the flavors are a bit too char forward in my opinion.
