Pours a clear mahogany color. 1/2 inch head of an off-tan color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong sweet malt, hint of chocolate, slight roasted malt, slight alcohol, yeast, and a hint of hop. Fits the style of an English Strong Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong sweet malt, hint of chocolate, slight roasted malt, slight alcohol, hint of raisin, hint of wood, hint of coffee, yeast, and a hint of hop. Overall, complex body, good blend, and aroma.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Newcastle glass.
Look is a hazy brown with yellow highlights and little to no head.
Aroma is all roast and molasses malt.
Taste is a lightly smokey sweet molasses like malt beer.
Maybe a bit crude for modern tastes this actually comes off as something pretty true to style for the 18th century.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of nutty sweet notes with a bitter hops aftertaste.
Overall: Goid beer. I would have this one again.

This seems to be brewed specifically for Colonial Williamsburg, VA made to imitate an "18th Century style export ale" that had to keep on long sea voyages. I decided to try it out of historical curiosity.
Poured a slightly cloudy, deep amber with a thick head. (The description on the bottle said light brown and clear)
Tastes of molasses and brown sugar. There's a slight brightness to the aftertaste.
Not something I'd want to drink again, but not a bad beer either.

A: A medium amber brown in color, very cloudy with a slightly tan head.
S: Bready with caramel and molasses. Lots of toffee aroma in there as well as a slight floral hop aroma.
T: Taste follows, bready with lots of toffee, vanilla, and caramel. Fruity on the front, and slightly floral and sweet on the finish.
M: Medium to medium thick, carbonation is lively and helps lighten the body, although you can tell there is a bit of syrup feel.
O: Yeah.. seems about right.

From bottle dated 8-2015. No head but leaves a thin solid off white retention over beer through out its time in glass. Looks very cloudy, drownish Amber. Smells very pleasant with malty sweat honey aroma. Tastes way better then expected. Definitely a malt forward brew but it has a nice shall I say light fell to the malt profile This goes down very smoothly and leaves you wanting more. I wish I had more. Only this one bottle brought down to me by traveler John Palmer, thanks John, best beer of the bunch yet 4.25

This is one of the handful of brews that are brewed exclusively for Colonial Williamsburg, VA. by Alewerks Brewing in Williamsburg, VA. This is classified as a strong ale. Look is a deep golden-brown with minimal head and light lacing. Aroma is malty, bready and sweet. Taste is suits the style with hints of yeast, malt and very light hops coming through. Finish is clean. Made with East Kent Golding Hops...
