L - Murky, burnt orange with a thin tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly and leaves behind minimal lacing.
S - Notes of pumpkin and spice - pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, followed quickly by bourbon and vanilla.
T - Follows the nose: huge notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, followed behind by sweet bourbon, brown sugar, and vanilla - a little bit of alcohol warmth on the back end.
F - Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Somewhat sticky mouth feel.
O - A really solid bourbon barrel aged pumpkin ale that really hits all the notes nearly perfectly - one of the best out there.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark amber-brown color and a thick, cloudy, murky consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white head that lasted an average amount of time. So-so lacing.

S: A big, enticing aroma of pumpkin, bourbon, cinnamon, vanilla, malt, and some other spices.

T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (barely noticeable), lots of cinnamon, some allspice, a little nutmeg, a good shot of pumpkin, lots of bourbon (not too much), and a bit of vanilla. This is a big, robust, and well-balanced flavor. The bourbon barrel compliments the typical pumpkin ale flavors extremely well. Quite delicious.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An excellent pumpkin ale. Very easy to recommend this one.

A - Dark amber brown colored pour with dark cream colored lacing.

S - Cinnamon, pumpkin, light bourbon, vanilla.

T - Cinnamon, pumpkin, vanilla, bourbon, brown sugar, lingering spice bourbon finish. Lingering boozy finish.

M - Heavy and silky body.

O - For barrel aged Pumpkin beers, this one sits towards the top of the pack, IMO.

2017 Release: Pours a deep copper color with a thin ring of head around the glass. The smell of the beer spicy with some definite sweetness on the nose as well. The taste has a good balance of vanilla and pumpkin spice. The feel is medium bodied. Overall it’s a very solid brew.

A: This poured a cloudy dark copper with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like pumpkin puree and cinnamon graham crackers, with some allspice and vanilla and toasted oak.
T: It tasted like pumpkin puree and cinnamon and allspice and clove, with some honey biscuit and French vanilla and toasted oak. It had a clean sweet aftertaste with some alcohol warming.
M: It was thick with a little carbonation. Big chewy body.
D: This was a delicious brew, very refined and complex. The scent and taste were fantastic, and the body was great. The finish was smooth but hot, so it was better to sip. Age would help, but fresh it was still one of the best pumpkin beers ever. Highly recommended.

My, my, my. Rich, smooth, balanced complex flavors. Pumpkin, malty, burbon, slight hop. Unfiltered rust color, light tan head with low fizz. Nice thick creamy mouth feel. A superb quality brew. Not a brew to guzzle. Slowly savour.

Rich, dark bronze/copper color. Sweet malty, fruity aroma balanced by bourbon notes. Taste is sweet, cinnamon/nutmeg spiced, balanced wonderfully by the bourbon aging. Bourbon is apparent but not overwhelming of the pumpkin flavor. It cuts the sweetness perfectly to create a evenly balanced flavor. Body has a full, but not overly thick mouth-feel. Bourbon is not so strong as to be hot and boozy. Overall this is a fantastic pumpkin ale that is positively complemented by the bourbon aging, a great beer.

Pours dark copper with two finger head. Spice and booze in the nose.

This is essentially the big sibling to their pumpkin ale which is delicious in its own right. The malt has heft and that works well to balance out the spices and bourbon. The vanilla finish is beautiful. I (think?) I detect a touch of lactose as well (and I think lactose is in the original pumpkin ale as well). Medium to full bodied. So smooth it hurts and it tastes heavenly.

This beer is more than just a pumpkin ale -- it is a fine example of properly aging a beer to compliment its inherent flavors and qualities.

750ml cork top bottle poured into a goblet, bottled 10/19/15
Had to use a wine corkscrew, producing a lot pop

A- pours a deep ruby amber color with a small foamy off-white head that retains shortly before disappearing completely, leaving nothing behind

S- aroma is rich with sweet caramel malt, producing notes of fig, black cherry & raisin. The bourbon barrel provides notes of barrel juice, woodsy oak, vanilla & coconut. The spicing is somewhat subtle, but comes through with aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg & clove, producing an element of vanilla cream

T- sweet caramel malt up front with lots of raisin, fig & black cherry notes, almost reminiscnet of an English barleywine. Mid-palate provides the barrel presence, with plenty of bourbon mingling with vanilla, coconut and oak. The spicing complements the barrel perfectly, with flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove & allspice. As it nears the finish, there's a distinct vanilla cream sweetness that takes over to mimic pumpkin pie and whipped cream. The linger gives more bourbon and vanilla sweetness

M- medium-viscous body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into the finish, with just a hint of ABV warmth on the linger. Overall, ABV is hidden very well.

O- Alewerks regular pumpkin als is my favorite pumpkin beer, so I was very excited for this, and it didn't disappoint. What makes the base beer different form other pumpkin beers is that it has a strong malty base to compliment the spices. This base beer works perfectly with the bourbon barrel, providing an outstanding treat to be sipped and savored, outstanding.

Bottle. Poured into a snifter glass. Poured a dark pumpkin orange brown with a ton of bubbles. 1 finger of head quickly dissipated. LOOK 4.5. Smell. Pumpkin, all spice, nutmeg, hint of cloves, caramelized sugars, oak and bourbon. Kentucky-style bourbon. Smells heavenly. SMELL 4.5. Tastes not hot. Like a sweet pumpkin pie dipped in bourbon. I actually taste vanilla! All the smell flavors are there. Not boozy at all to me. Subtle smooth bourbon on the back end. Just a phenomenal pumpkin pie taste. TASTE 4.5. Feel is a little thicker than the regular pumpkin ale. Not too thick. It is an ale. FEEL 4.5. Overall this is the BEST pumpkin ale I've ever had. Worth every penny. OVERALL 4.5. Want more.

Had on tap at the taproom. I am a big Alewerks' standard Pumpkin Ale and this retains that same great pumpkin flavor there is just a lot more booze here. Strong notes of bourbon. It's funny the other reviews mention the vanilla because I was wishing there was a bit more to even out the boozy flavor. Overall though, this is still an excellent beer if you like pumpkin or high gravity beers and I am looking forward to drinking the bottle I bought as well.

Let me start by saying I am not a big fan of pumpkin beer at all.

That said, this is the best I've ever had.

Poured on tap at the taproom. Color is a deep orange, crystal clear, light tan fizzy head forms.

Nose is rich, bourbon and vanilla forward, clove as well.

Flavor is fantastic. The barrel is the real star here. Bourbon, oak, vanilla huge up front and vanilla stays throughout. Pumpkin spice of nutmeg is there with the sweetness of the pumpkin on the finish.

Rich body, nice depth. Not something I enjoy drinking quickly (it improves as it warms slightly) and mouthfeel is quite full.

I do reserve final judgement until I've had the bottle as their recent Jubilee IX is fantastic on tap, but the bottle lacks any carbonation and suffers dearly for it. For now if you can get this Imp Pumpkin in the taproom, get as much as you can.
