This was another beer from AleWerks that I picked up in Virginia on my way back home from the West Coast not that long ago. Sure, this was an improvement over Blue Moon but it wasn't enough to knock anyone's socks off, as this turned out to be relatively typical and true to form. Thankfully, no slice of orange was needed to cut this!

As was to be expected, the pour to this was golden, opaque, and topped off with plenty of fluffy head. A good amount of lacing was left behind as well as I worked my way through this. A good amount of wheat and orange was in the nose as they came out more in the taste. A decent, full body and some citrus juice could be felt as well as this tasted more and more lemony once it warmed up. Sufficient on carbonation and just a tad try, this was an easygoing beer that went down easily but not mindlessly.

Of course, this was a session beer as well and had there been another bottle here, I would have opened that next. Now that it's warm and mostly dry, this has been one example of what I love to quaff. Bottled on 1/26 of this year, it held up well and would easily last the summer if I needed it to - not that I'd let it sit for that long!

Stamped on the right side of the label: "02 22 2017"

Appearance: It has a hazy golden orange colored body with a medium sized white head. The head has a creamy textured surface with a bit of a fluffy appearance. It has moderate retention with some lacing.

Aroma: It has a nice tangy wheat aroma with the scent of orange and coriander. I am really impressed with the aroma because a lot of Witbiers will claim both of those ingredients but they don't actually smell like it. This beer smells great.

Taste: It has a nice soft flavor profile with a light bit of grain flavor and a gentle coriander flavor. It doesn't have that big fresh Witbier flavor but it is nice. There is a light tangy character lurking in the corners of the palate which is nice.

Mouthfeel: It is a bit on the thin side but it has very good carbonation. A light tartness to the beer does a good job brightening it up.

Overall: It started out looking good and smelling fantastic but it doesn't have the flavor or texture to complement it. I would still drink it but it wouldn't be my first choice on the shelf.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden color with a thin white head.

Smell: Cloves, citrus and wheat.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of sweeter grassy notes and cloves. Hint citrus and bitter hops.

Overall: Excellent beer. I would have this one again.

this beer has a delightful color...with a fading white head....and splotchy lacing....

the smell is wonderful!....smells of spiciness....great clove aromas coming out...what a great smelling beer....

i sure wish the taste could have lived up to the smell....taste cheap....full of adjuncts...with a little bit of a belgian yeast coming through....

the mouth feel is ok....packed with a lot of carbonation....and a semi dry feel...

well this would be an ok beer, if it were 5 buck a sixer, on a warm summers day...but i would not recommend buying a six pack of it...at 8.99 a pack

Seems witbiers are the new IPA, in terms of the sheer amount of American brewers picking up the style and running with it. Here's another, from Virginia's own Williamsburg AleWerks.

Beautiful beer. Fluffy and everlasting head of thick white sea foam, on top of an unfiltered peach/pear juice color. Gobs of lace left as the liquid lessens.

Aroma leans on the fruity side, rather than the yeasty vibe you often get (and want) in a wit. Juicy tropical fruit abounds, with something chalky/mineral lurking in the background. A grassy, almost white wine character too, but really, that fruity element dominates the nose.

Definitely plenty of orange peel on the tongue, and a hint of the coriander too. Herbal, grassy and fruity, never over-sweet, and kind of tart, like Orangina, if you've ever had that. Also think of Orangina because of the tingly, soda-like feel, which could have impressed if it were smoother and less bubbly, but it's no huge pitfall. Tartness and orange remain on the tongue in the semi-dry finish. Overall probably too tart, and lacking some depth, although this is never the most complex beer style.

Refreshing as hell, even if it's not the perfect witbier. A solid entry in a crowded field, from a brewer that usually does right by the letters b, e, and r.

12oz single, received via a VA local, blackie

appearance: served in a ND pint glass - very light off-golden body, creamy beige foam...color is a little depressing for the style

smell: corriander, orange zest, lemon, yeast

taste: This is a nice wit - corriander, orange zest, lemon, crisp yeast, lots of residual sweetness. This drinks fine but it does not doing anything to distinguish

mouthfeel: light and floral, bigger sweet finish

drinkability: good

Cloudy and pale, with a fluffy majestic white head, which lingers.

Aromas of Belgian yeast, spiciness, fruit; perhaps orange.

Tastes a wee bit spicy, coriander and orange peel are evident, as are various fruity flavors imparted by the Belgian yeast.

Very light on the palate, imminently quaffable, a really tasty example of the style, and perfect for today's inferno like heat.

orange-yellow color, ok head. Taste is very light, almost wheat-like. The flavors are subtle and I can pick up a touch of citrus on the palate. Overall, a decent beer but so light that it is hard to go into more detail. Overall, Alewerks is doing a great job !!

A- pours a pale and hazy golden color with a small foamy white head that reduces quickly, leaving a small layer on top, lively carbonation bubbles shooting toward the top. Not as much head as typically expected for the style

S- light phelonic notes with some musty yeast, lemon rind with some wheat and crackery malt

T- overall, the flavors don't match up to the aromas. The belgian yeast flavors are barely detectable and there'd just a touch of lemon and coriander. Crisp wheat flavor on the finish

M- watery light body with medium carbonation, fizzy -yet-light mouthfeel with a thin finish

O- this one has the potential, but everything just seems a bit too watered down for my liking

Look is pale yellow with amber notes and a thin head.

Aroma is funky wheat farmhouse not a clean wheat but it is months old.

First taste I got was a nutty peanut butter ends thin and grassy.

Strange taste and feel not strictly enjoyable but alright.
