Kronenbourg 1664Kronenbourg 1664
Notes: Kronenbourg 1664 was named after the year the Hatt family, the founders of Kronenbourg. Itis the fifth oldest beer brand in the world that still exists today.

Its golden hues and delicate bitterness come from selecting the best hops, the 'Strisselspalt', and the unique know-how of Kronenbourg’s master brewers for over 300 years.

Strisselspalt is also named the caviar of hops by the expert master brewers around the world for its low bitterness and aromatic qualities. Its specific soil and culture technique requirements makes it rare and quite unique to the Alsace Region and Kronenbourg recipes.

Tall boy can... better from the bottle but that’s only 11.2oz. Always a must have on the Epcot Drinking around the world tour.

12 oz slender green bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Decent lacing to being with then it slowly dissipates, good golden clarity showing some effervescence.

Smell: Clean graininess with some sweet tones, grass hop is the major aroma though there is a hint of solvent alcohol in the back.

Taste: Herbal and grassy hop with a light honey and doughy graininess to match. Alcohol is there, clean yet a touch of solvent. Long lingering hop flavour with a drying grain to boot.

Mouthfeel: Deeply lined crispness, real nice on the tongue as it rolls off with a smooth dry moderate body.

Drinkability & Notes: Very refreshing as I could put down more than just a couple. Simple and clean with a kick of hops and slight slap of alcohol. This one brings back memories and I am glad they are making an other push into the US market as this puts other mass produced Euro-lagers to shame.

Pours a golden color with a two inch head and lots of retention. Plenty of lacing present. Smells of lightly sweet corn malt, grass hops, toasted barley, and some other scent that is mildly skunky. Wasn't able to identify it because it is mildly off-putting. Tastes of roughly the same intermixing, but mildly stronger grain and wheat. Has a very light feel to it, but finishes clean with no lingering aftertastes after the swallow. Overall, a fairly decent Euro Lager. Much better than I was expecting, as this typically isn't my style of beer.

Vive la France! I recently picked up this single bottle during a look-in at Country Garden 6-Pack here in Lancaster, PA.

From the bottle: "The first French beer"; "Brewed with expertise since 1664". (translated from the French)

Following a Pop! of the cap, I went with a relatively heavy-handed pour. This led to the creation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with good retention. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled strongly of Saaz hops underlain with a mild biscuity maltiness. Mouthfeel was medium. Taste was hoppier than I had expected, more grassy than anything else, with a mild biscuity maltiness. Finish was dry, but not gaspingly so. It was a tasty, refreshing beer, albeit kind of nondescript.

Tasted in a pilsner glass from draught at Firkin on July 20, 2017. Look is gold with a thick head and some lingering lacing. Smell is grain, grass and sweet malt. Taste is grain, grass, herbs and honey with bread malt. Feel is initially crisp but finishes smooth and a little dry. Better than most European lagers.

Very drinkable beer. Had this in Paris. You can find it in most restaurants, convenience stores, and cafes throughout Paris - a local favorite. I enjoyed it. Very refreshing. Mildly strong grain and wheat...this beer is much better then Kronenbourg original (see my review on that one). I would seek this beer out again. A nice one for those in the mood for a 5.5 ABV lager.

This beer poured a 1 in. head which fell pretty quickly. Very fizzy for a while. Dark straw.

Smell: skunk AS HELL. Most skunky beer I have ever smelled next to Coors Light.

Taste: pretty tasty and refreshing. Grain and hop bite is very prevalent. Not too bad but not too amazing at all.

Mouthfeel medium/medium thin.

Drinkability: pretty decent. Nothing I'd ever buy again but I could slug the whole sixer down and still enjoy it.

Pours a clear straw colored body. White fluffy head fades slowly to a thin film.

A light nose made up of grains and light malts.

Light malt sweetness, with grains and a light hop in the background. Great dry finish.

Medium-light bodied, with rough carbonation on the tongue.

Overall a nice brew though I am disappointed to see glucose syrup as one of the ingredients.

A: Standard golden yellow euro-lager hue. Not really where this beer shines, but not bad. Won't comment on the head. I'm drinking this straight from the bottle (sue me) for this review. I've had in a Pilsener glass with good results.

S: Quite good. Floral, slight malt, light lawn clipings. Not much else, yet clean.

T: Light malt, floral hopiness comes through. Those Alsace hops seems to be showing, quite enjoyable. Unique. Not sure if it's the advertised Alsace hops but whatever hops are used, they are being executed very well.

M: Good for the style. Moderate carbonation, no surprises. Refreshing and simple. Again, quite standard, but it's very refreshing.

O: One of my go-to European lagers. This holds up well to many European Pilseners and Lagers I've had whilst living in central Europe. I quite enjoy this brew. It is easy to put many of these down, and the interesting flavor never seems to get old. Truly a well balanced beer. One I will be seeking out even as I return to the US. Worth a try? JUST DO IT! You may be pleasantly surprised!

A pale hazy straw colored brew with a white firm head, some lacing.

Very odd jelly bean sweet sour smell.

The taste is unfortunately even more accentuated jelly beans in sour beer.

Rather small carbonation, somewhat sticky, no dryness.

No, this is not for me, reminds more of a candy shot than a beer.

A really refreshing Euro Pale Lager. Here goes:

A: Good for the style. Pours clear gold with a moderate head. Lacing is especially good for the style. Wish it had more body carbonation, though.

S: Good. Hay, wheat, straw, and grass - refreshing pilsner scents. Also a fair amount of bready yeast. Only problem is a tinge of skunk (needs darker bottles).

T: Very refreshing. Helpings of straw and wheat; also yeast. What's interesting is the buttery aftertaste. Usually butter in a beer is evidence of DMSO - not so with this beer; it really complements the other flavors well.

F: Good.

O: A crisp and refreshing beer. Perfect for crushing.

Not my normal style at all but I like it.

Excellent grassy aroma. Clear light amber brew with almost no head.

Flavor is dry and crisp with grassy and coppery notes. Fair amount of fresh grain, moderate hops.

Nice full mouthfeel but more carbonated than I like.

Extremely drinkable. Best euro lager I've had in recent memory. Would make a great session beer.
