I've been wanting to hit this place for a while now. Chance came tonight. Not really hard to find, just look for Best Buy.
Clean store and well lit. Beer is on the left as you walk in. Whole wall of cooler doors with about 5 reserved for singles. Nice mix 6 deal. Macros are at the far end. Good marketing strategy there. Small selection of glassware, but oh well..I'm here for beer. Imports and domestic singles/special release/big-guys are on warm aisles. Pretty good selection of breweries, perhaps could be more deep within each. Picky picky I know, but I was hoping to find Mikkeller single hop beers. No luck. But I did pick up 5 Thomas Hardys.
Service is average, and that's fine. Pretty good value...I got the shopper's card.

Wow, this place is totally huge, possibly the largest beer/liquor store I have ever been to. Thank you hot aunt (not mine, gf's)Sharon for bringing us to this place. Reminded me of the feeling I got in the 90s walking into my first Bevmo. Well, this place blows the doors off any Bevmo back then, now, and probably in the future (slight ode to Bret Hart there). Its about the size (and probably a former) of a supermarket.

Wine to the right on the entrance, just an amazing rack system. You have to walk to the back of the place to find the beer, but when you get there, damn, there's just tons and tons of it in coolers, again, possibly the most extensive cooler section of beer I've seen. And its a good mixture selection wise, you have your high end C&C bottles, bombers, six packs etc. . . and they're not just CO beers (although they do have some CO rarities at the most competitive prices, i.e. Oud Floris).

I spent a lot here, but got a massive amount of beer. Their pricing is competitive with anyone within the state as far as I could tell.

Look, here's the bottom line: If you are shopping for beer in the Denver proper area: Shop Argonaut. If you're in the burbs between Denver and Boulder, shop this place.

A nice, new, cleaner building. Big and organized nicely. Great selection and you can pretty much find whatever you are looking for. They are often one of the first places to bring in new beers to the market (like Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectyar 6 Packs). Main reason I travel out of my way to come here though is they quality Build Your Own 6 Pack selection. They don't have everything but they do have a lot, a nice broad selection to choose from. Service is often MIA. This place is priced all over the place, you can find some great deal (best price for Firestone Walker 6 packs of DBA, 12 pcks of Deschutes Red Chair, etc) but they seem to balance those deals out by over pricing things (like Odell's 6 packs for over $10). I do come here a lot because I like to build my own 6 packs and this is the best and most convenient location that offers that.

I have stopped in here a few times on the way home from work. I'm one of those guys that walks up and down every aisle and looks at a lot of stuff. Never really been asked if I needed help or seen a beer guy in my multiple trips there. They have an awful cold bomber selection, almost all of them are warm. They have a decent shelton brothers collection, usually some 3 F and others floating around along with a good selection of local stuff. Basically my major gripe is that there isn't Anything here I can't get closer to home, but when I am driving by Ii will stop in.

This place is exceptional. It has a great selection of beer, as well as liquor and wine. I used to shop this place on a weekly basis prior to leaving Denver for the wonderful city of Cleveland. When they do get the more rare beers, they often place them in the back and you must ask for them by name (Pliny for example). If you ask if they have received any beers that are not on the floor recently they will usually just play dumb, but if you ask by name they will go check in the back for you.
Prior to moving, I stocked up at this store on a multitude of items. One of them being Stranahans. Every place in the city was sold out (went to 7 different liquor stores). this place had 2 bottles left and I bought both of them seeing that it was my 2 days before I moved.
They have a great selection from around the country and the world. This was one of my go to places when I lived in the Denver area.
The staff is also very knowledgeable. I've been in multiple conversations with employees about multiple breweries and styles, and for the most part they definitely know their shit.
This is a must go to if you are visiting or live in the area.

This is one step nicer than a warehouse. It's as much a liquor and wine shop as it is a beer store. If you can't find the booze you want here, it's either sold out all over town or it's not in the areas distro. The staff is friendly. With a selection as large as they have it's hard to have an intimate knowledge of all the products but they do a good job.

They use BA and RB ratings which is nice. Mixed 6s a rewards program wonderful selection and standard pricing. What else exactly do you want in a beer store?

Oh yeah they do tastings too. I've seen wine and liquor there and I'm sure breweries must come though on occasion.

Visited back on 7/28/2010 during a Denver/Boulder trip. The store is located in Westminster on Sheridan not too far off 36. There is a large parking lot out front.

The store is reminiscent of Bevmo! in that it is large big box type store with a good selection of beer. The majority of the beer is located on the left side of the store, a large portion of it in coolers, plus a few shelves in the same vicinity.

The beer selection is pretty good, and it appears that almost everything sold in 4-6 packs is available in singles. Lots of regional brewers like Upland, Oskar Blues, Boulder, Great Divide, Fort Collins, and New Belgium, plus lots of west coast stuff like Port Brewing/Lost Abbey and Stone.

Service is pretty standard for a cavernous place like this. People asked if we needed help and that is about it.

Overall this place is a good spot to hit if suitcase space is a factor and you want to grab a few beers representative of the area.

I first started shopping here a few years ago when my dad said he was unable to find Red Dog anywhere that he shopped (Superior/Boulder area). I found it on my first visit to Total Beverage, and noticed what a great selection they had in general.

It's certainly not the largest liquor store, but the more I shop there, the more impressed I am with the selection. I always find a variety of seasonal brews as well as foreign beer, ciders and other varieties.

One thing I appreciate the most at Total Beverage is the single bottle section. There are a good deal of more expensive beers that I'm interested in trying, but don't want to be tied to buying an entire 4- or 6-pack of, and that's a great way to be able to try things without spending a lot of money.

Every time I shop there, I enjoy browsing and I end up trying at least two or three new things I've never seen before. The prices are reasonable/in line with other stores, and the staff is friendly as well.

This has become my "candy store"; a great selection of beer and just up the street from me. On a few occassions, I've been able to "talk beer" with beer people from the store, taking on suggestions, adding my two cents worth, etc. I have been able to find the standard macros (naturally), as well as a great selection of micros and imports. The staff has always been friendly when I'm in. Price is reasonable, selection of spirits is great (Stranahans Colorado Whiskey!!) I will most definitely continue to patronize this store, even though my wallet might hate me for that later!

Westminster Total Beverage is very close to my office so I am a frequent patron. The selection is very good with lots of bombers 750's and singles. They have lots of Belgians, Germans, Brits in addition to a very good selection of American craft beers. Port, Ballast Point, Stone, Alaskan, Lagunitas, Russian River, and tons of Colorado beers. They always get the limited and seasonal releases and their prices are pretty good. They also occasionally offer 20% coupons which is very cool. The beer staff are friendly and helpful. The only beers they don't carry that I wish they did are Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen.

I have to say as far as selection goes, I have yet to find a liquor store in Colorado that offers as much different beer than Total Beverage. The shear size of the bomber selection alone is amazing. Definitely found some older beer, like Liefman's Goudenband, for a reasonable price. It's also nice you can make your own six-pack out of 12oz bottles. That being said, all of the bombers are sitting outside of the coolers, so nothing is cold and things on the top shelf especially are directly exposed to heat and light (not a giant problem to be but I know it can be to some people). It also appears that they do not have any sort of beer staff that is around for recommendations or anything like that.. The few times I've been in there appears to be no staff other than cashiers and they don't appear to have any beer knowledge whatsoever. The selection is worth checking out for sure, but the staff not being knowledgeable or present for questions is definitely a let down.

Located in the Wal-Mart/Bestbuy shopping center, this is yet another huge warehouse style liquor store. All the beer is on the right, with coolers lining the entire wall, along with a selection of mostly imports warm opposite the coolers. They seem to have a pretty good selection, and often get new releases out on the shelves quicker than some of the other places around. They also swap out CO2 tanks. I haven't been impressed with the service, with most people just seeming to go through the motions. If you are in the area, this is a pretty good resource.

I've been shopping at the Best Buy and Whole Foods adjecent to Total Beverage for years and have never gave it a chance. I assumed it was just another generic, big box, discount liquor store. A step inside somewhat confirmed my suspicion, but also revealed a very impressive beer selection. So, here's the skinny on Westminster's Total Beverage.

Aside from the standard macros and microbrews in the cooler, they have several additional shelves packed with unchilled, cellar able 22s. This includes an impressive stock of Belgian beers and hard-to-find domestic brews from Avery, Port Brewing, Dogfish Head, Lost Abbey and more. Its a great place to check for recent releases from less-local breweries (DFH Theobroma was plentiful just a few days back)

They have a good selection of mix-n-match 12oz bottles, 27% off on each 6-pack.

If you get a frequent shopper card you can earn points for free stuff and you can find good discounts on overstock (Dogtoberfest, New Belgium 2-Below and Avery's The Kaiser Imperial Octoberfest were on sale a few days back).

They have an email newsletter that features their biggest discounts (mostly cheap booze, unfortunately) and invitations for local food events like tastings and pairings.

Definitely worth the trip. AppleJack may be the biggest, baddest, most well-known big-box liquor store in Colorado, but Total Beverage wins on beer, no contest. I have yet to find anything comparable in Colorado...

Great selection, good prices, but otherwise so-so.

The best part first. Total carries a tremendous variety of beer. Lots of micros and many imports, as well as the usual macros fill the coolers here. Almost everything is available in singles and they discount the singles if you build a six pack. They even have a discount club. If you need a change of pace from beer, they have a very nice selection of wine and other liquor. If selection is what you're looking for, this is the place to be.

Service on the other hand, is only average. There were too few staff members. And the ones I encountered weren't particularly knowledgeable. Another down side, is that much of the beer is out on the floor rather than in the coolers. Most of the six packs seem to be kept cold, but many singles are sitting out on shelves and the cases were built into displays.

Big Box/BevMo! type liquor store with a pretty impressive selection.

They occasionally carry beer that no other store can get its hands on (at least in the front range). Case in point; last weekend, 01/19/08, there were 4 bottles of the DeProef/Tommy Arthur Signature ale. I have also bought bottles of Fantome on occasion. Its also the only place that i have seen many of the Allagash oddities (Odyssey, Curiexux, etc).
There is an extensive Belgian selection and the rest of Europe (east and west) is represented well.

Probably worth a trip once in a while to see what has popped onto the shelves. Easy access from Boulder and Denver just off Hwy 36.

Just like every other liquor store in CO, these guys lock the doors on Sunday and watch one day of potential sales go up in smoke due to outdated laws.

Though not as good as Davidsons, this would be a real good choice if on the north side of Denver.

The pros: Loved the build your own sixer & they had a few brews not seen elsewhere.

I've had about 10 beers from there & all but one were in good shape.

Service-wise it was a Saturday, so maybe the staff was rushed, they were almost friendly, if somewhat blase about beer

Selection, almost as good as the aforementioned davidsons, a little weak on regional & CO breweries IMO. Better stores around here for that. Still any time I'm up that way, I will drop in & spend no problem!

Prices seemed in line with the area

Liqour & wine selection looked first-rate

I live 5 minutes from new Total Beverage, so I don't have to drive the extra 15 minutes to the original. New location has been open less than 6 months, so it'll take time to get their feet under them.

Quality is very good for their products overall: beer, wine & liquor.

Service is an improvement area - 80% of the beer's I've asked about were uncharted territory for the staff. I appreciate trying to grow people into roles & I've seen improvement since they opened. Plus I ask for very narrow items. But the overused response "if it's available in CO, we should get it" wears thin after finding some of these beers elsewhere in CO (even some CO microbrews).

Selection is about as good as can be found in CO. May not have everything available in CO, but has 90% of them. The places in CO that seem to have those beers are in close proximity to microbrew "hubs" (eg. - Ft. Collins & Boulder). Based on my visits to the big stores in the southern Denver suburbs, Total has selections as good as theirs. But would be nice to have availability of all CO microbrews & more offerings (whether seasonal or not) from brewers they do carry (eg. - Allagash).

Value-wise, Total is less expensive given their purchase power & I definitely value being able to make my own 6 packs from microbrew & imported singles for a discount.

All the constructive feedback aside, I'm very spoiled to have a top-notch beer store within 5 minutes of home. If they were to address half my concerns, I'd be a very happy camper.

I stopped in Total Beverage just to pick up a six pack and check out the store. I found that it was very impressive and quite massive, 25,000-square feet in size. They carry over 14,000 types of wine, beer, liquor and other beverage items from over 50 countries. I spoke with one of the sales associates and learned that they are a relative of the Total Beverage in Thornton, just own by different people. Needless to say I found there huge selection of beer and friendly staff to a real plus. I also found the prices to be very competitive. If you are in the area of 92nd and Sheridan, I’d stop in a check it out.

This store boasts over 50 cooler doors of beer/malt beverages. Of these, there are 16 doors of Domestic macros, 12 doors of microbrews, 11 doors of Imports, including Imported Macros, 7 doors of malt liquors and alco-pops, and 3 doors of pick-six singles. This last made me quite happy, as I am beginning to see more and more stores have this offering. In addition to the cooler space devoted to beer, there were 36 feet of shelving hosting a myriad of Import and Micro bombers, stacked 4 shelves high. I was also impressed with the selection of Eastern European/Russian beers offered. This is a world I have yet to delve into, so I know where my area of concentration is going to have to travel in the next several months.

In addition to the impressive beer selection, there was an amazing selection of Bourbons, especially those of the Single-barrel variety. Although it is a bit out of the way for me, I do have a work account in the same shopping center, so I will have to pay a visit whenever I find myself in that area.
