Poured on-tap in a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, copper coloring with a filmy, light, halo of white head. Nose of grapefruit, melon, mango, and subtle resinous hops characteristics. Flavors are bitter and dank hops resin forward, with a candi sugar, grapefruit, and mango follow. Caramel backbone, with highlights of pepper and basil spice. Mid-bodied, with a dry undertone. The aftertaste is herbal and resinous, with cut grass, basil, and pepper in there. Smooth, slightly dry finish, with a lingering green hops presence. Good beer.

Drinking this at the Carolina Brewing Company on tap poured into a pint glass.
Looks, slightly hazy and orange, nice white head and lacing.
Smells piney.
Tastes piney, sweet with some citrusy notes. Despite an IBU of 85 not so bitter, as the malt balances it nicely.
Mouth feel is light medium.
Overall, yes I would order again.

BOTTLED ON 09/03/15

Hazy orange color with a small, creamy head that settles to a large pool of soapy bubbles. Resinous pine, grapefruit, and leafy earth aromas. Flavor is hoppy: bitter dark green pine, citrus, and flowers...mostly spicy, earthy qualities. I wish it was a little more citrusy or piney with less of the leafy/earthiness - the Citra, Centennial, and Amarillo hardly come through at all. Smooth, medium body.

Great clarity and lace on this local IPA. Hop Roar also features an attractive gold/bronze hue and solid pine dense nose with alcohol kind of fluttering in the background.

Big bitterness in the flavor, balanced by caramel malt at first but swept away in the aftertaste. Pine primarily, but also some grapefruit and resin notes. A little tighter and thicker on texture makes this beer outstanding as opposed to just formidable and tasty.

True to style and advertising and probably these guys' best brew for me.

Nothing to shocking in the appearance of this one as it's text book amber with a nice, full, white foamy head that allows for moderate lacing that does provide some decent residue.

Slightly fruity and mostly piney smell with just a hint of onion, but it is fleeting at best.

Taste is immediately a little on the malty side right off but quickly goes on a bitter journey that contains that piney-ness, hints of grapefruit and a little green olive.

Body is bordering on syrupy in a good way. In no way thin, and thick enough to be almost silky.

Not a bad beer at all. Not as wicked tropical as I'd have hoped, but very good either way.

Hop ROAR! Hope to see it in grocery stores, only seeing it on tap so far.

L: Slightly hazy orange gold with a dense off white head that lingers and leaves behind a sheet of lacing.
S: Fruity with citrus and sweet malt.
T: Grassy and herbal with a tiny bit of sweetness and a bitter finish.
F: Medium to light body with decent carbonation that adds a bit of creaminess
O: A pretty solid beer but for me it lacks a good balance between the sweet and bitter.

Poured from a 12oz...

Pale orange with a hazy and thick complexion. First smell of passion and tropical fruit, slight presence of citrus too. First taste, bitter and sweet which then brings in deep grapefruit and rind after bite. Subtle malt presence too but a true hop bomb with some tropical fruits too, and it is doing the talking. Thin and somewhat medium body but an IPA to the tune of hops and hops. Not a bad beer, there are better IPAs in the world but not a bad showing by CBC. Glad they snuck a good brew in their lineup!
