Beer purchased from the brewery (the only place to get bottles of their seasonal beers)...last two 6 packs they had.

The beer poured a clear orange/amber with a nice slightly off-white head that lasted well into the pint then nicely laced the glass.

The aroma is an interesting blend of citrus along with a hint of woodiness. This, followed by malt, caramel, and a little breadiness.

The flavor is a nice malt/hops balance. Very enjoyable mix. The aftertaste is nicely bitter with the woody hops coming through again.

Overall, a very well done beer that will be around entirely too short a time.

on draft at 42nd Street Oyster Bar in Raleigh

appearance: amber in color, translucent, lacing white head

smell: very hoppy, pine and citrus

taste: very hoppy, especially for its listed style. fresh citrus and dry hops give this thing some character.

mouthfeel: medium heavy, bitter hops

drinkability: could have had another but my compadres were trying to leave

never would have guessed this would be labeled an american amber, hops are highly present.

The beer had a lasting off white head and was amber in color.

A very piney, large hop presence on the nose with a decent amount of malt in the back. Lemon accents toward the end.

The carbonation was medium and the body medium thin.

Plenty of oily hops on the tongue with a decent amount of malt to back it up. Some fruitiness came out as the beer warmed. Finishes with a lingering bitterness.

Sampled in a pint glass at the 42nd Street Oyster Bar with dirtylou.

The beer arrived on the bar crystal clear medium amber with a very tall and frothy off-white head which lasted well to coat the glass from top to bottom.

The aroma was strong caramel maltiness with a citrusy hop aroma and a nice malt/hop complexity. The hop aroma was also piney with dry hops and well done.

The flavor was piney and citrusy with a strong fruit presence from the hops of orange and grapefruit. The flavor contained a lasting hop bitterness and a nice caramel malt flavor to balance. The balance of the beer was toward hops and especially the resinous flavor of dry hops.

The finish was dry with lasting bittering and dry hop flavors long and pleasantly into the aftertaste. The body was medium and well done. This should be a year round beer, or at least a seasonal. It was a crowd favorite with the resinous citrusy and piney dry hop complexities. Thank you sir may I have another???

Pint provided by Joe and then a second on me at 42nd Street Oyster Bar - 10th Anniversary roll out party. From their email announcement:
"...it has a dark copper color, a big malty base, and it's very heavily hopped. Unlike previous Wiggos, The Third is dry hopped (more hops are added directly to the fermentation tank) with Centennial and Cascade. The alcohol content is 5.6%."
