Very spicy with earthy sweetness are a few of the trademarks that this beer hangs its hat upon. The supple pilsner flavors are familiar but the peppery notion of hops and yeast offer as much intrigue as comfort.

Very peppery in aroma and taste, but fused with odd and interesting characteristics of fruity sweetness and phenolic paint cause challenge and curriosity. All this rests upon a thin malt flavor and body that encompasses as much cereal and grain as it does crisp malt. But the beer doesn't stop there- the floral (almost perfumy) hop aromas and initial flavor turns seriously earthy in bitterness that bridge into the spicy alcohols and phenolic compounds.

Otherwise, the bubbly pilsner gives a part creamy, part effervescent appearance and body that gives life to both the eye and the texture of the mouth. Thin, dry, and crisp, the mouthfeel extends to carbonic bite, mild astringency, acidic tones as the beer finishes.

Brought to me by the reviewer just before me, tone77, who hooks me up with bottles to help keep my numbers in line with The CANQuest (TM), or else I would never get any bottles in.

All right! GER Pils! My third favorite style behind AmeriCAN IPAs and Czech Pils. My aggro pour produced a finger of bone-white head that drifted off while I was typing. Awww. Color was a slightly hazy golden-yellow. Nose smelled strongly of Noble hops. Very grassy, slightly minty, earthy as all get-out. Mmmm. Mouthfeel was on the thin side and the taste was sweetish, more outright lager than pilsner, which is part of the reason that the style is on top three for me - the hops are more muted than in the Czech version. Finish was slightly dry but still not hoppy enough to really suit my taste.

I picked this up at Quick 6 Mt Rose -enjoyed chilled from a pils glass.

A crystal clear golden shade like straw with thick 1 finger sudsy cap and lots of rapidly rising bubbles of carbonation streaming up w/ standard retention and pin sized bead, ringlets of lace cling. The smell is slighly fruity with herbal hint and slight earthy aroma with some grainy odors but mildly floral accent. The feel is satisfactory with slight sweet tinge of pils malt and mild herbal hops with subtle bitterness and gentle resinous tang w/ semi-dry light body and moderately high carbonation which is refreshing.

The pils tastes slightly tangy from the yeast with noble hop type flavor which is mildly herbal and lightly soapy tasting with a mild floral tinge. The flavor is subdued generally speaking but it isn't offensive which is a plus considering most lagers show off their flaws. Overall it is an ok beer, the malt and hops lack some depth making it suffer in the grand scheme, but a beer that is ok for the price I suppose.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some malts and grains. Taste is crisp, mild, malts with a touch of bitterness, finishing dry. Feels light in the mouth and is very drinkable. Overall a pretty decent brew.

Pours a clear golden straw color with a solid half inch white head that lingers a bit.

Cracker-like pilsner malt, grain, and a bit of corn comprise the aroma. Light floral hops and bread scents emerge.

Slight notes of lemon accompany a fairly grainy malt flavor. Doesn't seem as clean as a pilsner should be. There's a touch of diacetyl evident.

Body is moderate, with fairly high carbonation, and a slightly astringent bite.

Overall, not a stellar example of the style. Slightly harsh, and a touch alcoholic in flavor.

Bright gold with a huge, frothy head. Looks like an actual pils but does it taste like one as well?

Fluffy baked bread with a touch of hops. A little weak but it's there.

Very tasty. Much like a diluted version of Prima Pils without the hop bite.

In fact, the mouthfeel is a bit odd. In addition to the baked bread and small hop bite, there's an odd, unsavory aftertaste. It's also a bit watery.

I'm not sure I'll bother with offerings from this brewery in the near future. Absolutely weak.

Notes are 2 days old.

This beer is dark gold with a slight haze to it. The nearly white head is one finger tall. It takes some time to fade, but the foam is fairly heavy and stays around, dropping good lacing that sticks well on the glass.
The aroma is a weak one, giving grains with a sweetish malts backing and a bit of citrus hops.
The taste is similar, but offers more hops bitterness that pulls through nicely.
The mouthfell is light, crisp and refreshing but not lacking smoothness. It does, however, get a bit thin.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a slightly cloudy straw with a small white head. Smells of cereal grain and not much else, pretty average, but better than most macros. Tastes of malt, not much else, but not surprising for style. Light bodied beer is very refreshing, good carbonation, crisp finish. Overall, a slightly above average beer.

Appearance: Pours a pale gold with quickly receding fizzy head. Carbonation is pretty active.
Smell: Pretty pronounced hoppy aroma- floral Noble hop presence evident with lighter malt.
Taste: Quick run-up to the Noble hops with light grains and mild caramel in the malts. Light citrus and honey noted towards the end, but do not contribute any extra sweetness. Just enough in the malts to balance. Aftertaste hangs in there for a while. Well-balanced. Familiar brewery 'character taste' noted (as in most Stegmaier products) that doesn't detract from this beer- it's actually easier to detect where its made!
Mouthfeel: A bit light for the style, but quite smooth.
Overall: Perhaps not the top pils out there, but it certainly hold its own and is high-quality, in my opinion. To be honest, I have been pleased with Stegmaier's recent offerings in general. No exception here. Recommended.

Picked up at a local liquor store for 99 cents. It was the beer I grabbed as a single because I hate walking out of the store without buying anything!!!

A - Hazy bronze color. A pretty vigorous pour yields almost no head :( looks similar to an average homebrew.

S - Sweet and grainy. I can def smell the clean grassy hops on this one.

T - Pretty clean. Sweet and malty up front with a decent amount of bitterness. There is a metallic type taste though that puts me off a lot.

M - thin and a little undercarbonated.

O - Smells good and drinks okay. That metallic taste severely hurts this beer though.

This reminds me of Sam Adams Summer. I think this is a good beer to have in the summer on the beach or mowing your lawn or at a bar-b-q. Nothing offensive but nothing outstanding. This is a good example of the style at a very good price. Would I choose this over Prima Pils or Sly fox?. no.
