A: lighter red caramel colors. 1 finger khaki head. Lacing falls fast.
S: caramel, lager yeast, slight bready.
T: spice up front, hop bitterness, spiciness, dunkel style, herbal, sharp alcohol or nutmeg bite finish.
M: medium, balanced of sweet and dry.
O: ok. Its a little too spicy bold for me. Although you can't tell from the smell.

12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect pint glass.
A: Poured a dark copper color with a small 1/2 finger head that settled to a small ring with little to no lacing to speak of... Little odd for this style
S: First things I'm getting are a mix of spices.... brown sugar, little cinnamon and nutmeg. Then there is a little dark fruit and sweet malt mixed in there. Pretty standard Winter beer..
T: The taste matches pretty closely to the smells... all the spice, fruit and malt are there with a hint of caramel I was missing in the smell.... Very nice, but pretty normal stuff for a Winter beer.
M: Little weak on the body here, thinner that I was expecting from the smell and taste.... Finish is clean.
D: Not bad but not terribly different from most Winter beers... At 7.8 ABV one or two will do you, but I have to say the higher ABV is well hidden. Nice mix of flavors but the mouthfeel and appearance kind of killed it for me.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark ruby amber with a medium creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is perfumey bready malt with some sweet dark fruit and a little alcohol.
The flavor is sweet bready caramel malt with some fruitcake and a bit of a roast alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, an OK winter warmer.

A: Beautiful dark ruby. Thick off-white head fades quickly with small lacing.
S: Some maltiness and caramel with a hint of spice.
T: A light taste of malts followed by a bit of hops and alcohol, maybe a touch of dried fruits. The spice seems there but only very subtly.
M: Light in body but well carbonated, the high alcohol might account for dryness.
Drinkability: Very drinkable especially at this alcohol content.
Extra Notes- This beer aged extremely well, 9 months later the alcohol has faded and the caramel has come on strong making this a different, and even superior, beer to the fresh version.

Pours a dark ruby color with a thin off white head dwindles down quickly, fine speckled lacing surrounds my glass. Aroma has dark fruit with hints of cherry and a touch of molasses. Sugary sweetness in the flavor nice backend of fruitiness with hints of brown sugar glazed cherries and mid hints of nutmeg and spice. Mouthfeel is a bit cloying medium bodied the residual sugars overwhelm the palate just a bit, overall does warm you up the alcohol isn't hot but it's more of a warming sensation in your chest. Drinkability overall is pretty good very decent seasonal from the Stegmaier crew out in Wilkes Barre.

A clear and attractive amber brown color here, with a solid head of foam in my ale glass.
I get scents of biscuits, yeasty, and a little fruit maybe.
The taste is bold and malty, with an almost maple syrup followthrough. This heavily sweetened punch seems to hide the relatively high alcohol content (it's 7.2%). Good, but not outstanding.

A: The beer is clear red in color (dark mahogany red when viewed from afar) and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that quickly settled down, leaving a small patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of brown sugar and toffee are present in the nose along with some notes of fruit cake and spicy hops.
T: The taste starts off with flavors of candi sugar and toffee but finishes with notes of dark fruits and fruit cake with hints of spicy hops. There is a bit of bitterness, which masks any sweetness from the malt body.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't have any warming in the mouthfeel, but has a rather malty body that isn't too difficult to drink.

Lion produces several lines of beer, with the most traditional styles seeming to come under the Stegmaier name. Compared to the pack of winter warmers onthe market, this beer falls sadly short. Moderate, non-descript malt and a likewise moderate, non-descript hopping. No spices or other attributes to provide much interest. Other than a relatively high abv, not much warming going on here.

Awesome stuff, has a nice little bite to it. Does its job, you feel the warmth of it. I was actually sick for 8 days, took immune boosters medications loads of vitamin shot nothing helped. Drank three of these babies and I woke up good as new. Its a nice drink you won't be disappointed.

A copper/bronze, clear, with only a finger or two of head that dissipates steadily with no retention or lacing to speak of. Fine for the style. Boozy and sweet with a drying, firm bitterness. Plum and brown sugar, caramel malt and a bit of fruityness backed by noble hop earthy grassyness.
An uninspiring but reasonable stab.

Clear cherry amber with a slight tan head that quickly shrinks to a film. Dark fruit, pumpernickel bread and molasses in the aroma. Sweet mascerated cherry, bready malt and an herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Not bad by any means but Stegmaier Winter Warmer is not something I would go out of my way for.

I love this beer. Probably my favorite winter warmer. Not overly spiced like a lot of Christmas ales/winter warmers. Beautiful crimson color, not much head, just the right amount of carbonation, nice malt/cherry flavors, decent aromas, perfect mouthfeel, crisp and refreshing. 7.2% ABV, which is just right for a winter warmer. Oh yeah, and it's only $5.99 a six-pack! I've turned alot of people onto this beer who are fans of Great Lakes Christmas Ale, and many of them like this beer just as much (and it's about half the price!) Highly recommended!
