Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is amber, transparent; head is off white to light tan, fine to small bubbles, presents 1/2 inch thick and then lingers with a thin top, ring on sides, and lacing on the glass.

Smell is bready, biscuity, some toffee and caramel and toast - subtle fig and raisin notes; pleasant aroma which seems to blend a doppelbock and esb.

Taste is similar but finishes a bit harsh - flavor is bready, some biscuit, then caramel and toffee with fig/raisin fruitiness. Subtle butteriness which seems to soften the potential estery flavors from the strength of this brew.

Mouthfeel is crisp, well carbonated, not quite sweet/cloying, but then a dry, tongue biting lingering finish.

Overall this brew was better than i remember - it had been many years since i've had it but the lean to malty winter warmer style works well. Some kinks to work out in the finish but one of Stegmaiers better brews.

I tried this bottle chilled from a pint.

The color is dark amber with translucent clarity with thin tan head and fine bead with sticky lace and visible carbonation rising moderately fast. The smell is somewhat fruity with a sweet caramel malt aroma and slight spice with mild banana-like yeast ester. The feel is semi-spiced with a slight diacetyl smoothness and genetle metallic texture with warmth of alcohol and moderate carbonation with sem-full body.

The taste is okay -semi-spiced up front with buttery taste and mild fruity yeast with slight caramel malt in the flavor and mild amount of alcohol mid-palate with a sem-sweet finish. Overall this is not great, just passable for the style there are some noticeable flaws which are distracting as far as overall enjoyment goes

2015 Winter Warmer is a throwback to 2012 when it was outstanding, you can taste raisins and figs and some spice. Not like past two years. Stock up....

Nice winter brew. Not bad, for the price you can't go wrong.

This is a 2011 that got lost in the cellar, so...

Pours a clear deep brown with copper highlights and minimal cream head.

Brown sugar, ginger, treacle, and dark cherries form the aroma. Sweetness dominates.

Flavor reveals deeply caramelized malt, almost toffee-like, contrasted by tart cherries at the base. The finish is fairly bitter. Notes of sharp prunes and candied dates add complexity.

Body is a touch light, with moderate carbonation and light alcohol warmth.

This beer has held up well. Any spice character is gone, but the malt profile has nice estery complexity. Still a bit hot.
