Poured from a 12 oz bottle in to a tulip glass.

A- The body is a transparent orange with a small white head and no lacing whatsoever.

S- The nose is quite lovely with lots of cinnamon and sweet, sugary notes.

T- Malty and sweet. Not a ton of pumpkin, but enough. The spices dominate here though.

M- The feel is quite thin, but the carbonation livens it up a bit. If it was slightly thicker and slightly less carbonated, it would be right on the money.

O- I don't mind pouring myself one of these when I'm in the mood for some fall seasonal brews. Nothing to seek specifically, but pretty decent.

Crafted in the tradition of the original pumpkin ale, Buffalo Bills, but with better balance, more sweet malt and far less spice bite in the finish. After trying over 36 pumpkin beers over the years, I consider this one my favorite overall. Extremely drinkable yet enjoyable pumpkin flavor, lightly spiced with cinnamon. While it is not a killer pumpkin ale, it is one you can drink for hours on end. Thankfully, the Lion Brewery has maintained the superb flavor consistently since the first release in 2012, which cannot be said for many of the other pumpkin ales. Every bottle in the case was savored and enjoyed without any regret.

Update: The 2015 vintage is as good if not better than previous years. Tantalizes the taste buds with just the right amount of cinnamon on the sides of the palate without bitterness. My only complaint is that there are not huge stacks of this like the macro -pumpkins.

Undated 12 oz bottle served in a snifter.

Pours clear, orange-copper color with a modest and weak bone-colored head.

Overall, spices are more subtle than in many pumpkin beers, but the cinnamon is more dominant. There is a clear suggestion of pumpkin pie along with a pronounced caramel malt component. Sweet but not cloying.

Feel: Light-medium body seems too thin; Medium, prickly carbonation. Slight heat from the cinnamon.

O: A tasty and solid pumpkin ale, but not up with the best of style.

The color is a hazy amber verging on orange. A small orange-tan head forms on a vigorous pour and doesn't stay long. A thin ring remains along the glass and just enough wispy lacing is left in what eventually become some tiny spotting to remind me this is a beer, though the ring of head at the edge of the glass also remains.
At first the aroma offer mainly a light fruity sweetness along with pumpkin flesh, but the spicing is in here and nice pie crust buttery/doughy aroma comes out as well. It's not particularly strong and at first it's completely unimpressive, but it doesn't take long for things to come together.
The pie spices are kept at an even level with the pumpkin flesh, making a good balance. Hops are barely presence but malts add a light caramel edge with a bit of breads as well. It's not perfectly attenuated but it's not too simplistic. Unfortunately it goes light on flavor and is weak and watery. A peppery spice bites in the finish.
Mouthfeel isn't bad, and this is a bit meaty considering. A nice creaminess builds from an initial crispness. It does flatten out, though, and fades off. The finish is also biting.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a brownish/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pumpkin, some spices. Taste is good, pumpkin forward, some spices, but not overpowering, flavorful and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a fine example of this style.

Surprisingly one of the best pumpkins I've ever had. Up there with the big boys.

Surprisingly, very good. Beautiful orange color, full bodied, creamy, with a mild pumpkin aftertaste. The pumpkin flavor was not much pronounced while in the mouth and more noticeable after swallowing. Will learn more about beer lingo and nuances as I continue to rate beers on this site.

Liking most of the other offerings Stegmaier makes a decent pumpkin lager. Color is a dark amber brown, clear with a half inch of head that turns to a sweet looking lace ring. Smell is strong nutmeg and cinnamon just how I like it. Taste is kind of lacing on the roasted or vegital pumpkin but makes for a great lager. Spices, sweet and balanced with minimal hop kick. Mouthfeel is light so I took off points since it doesn't make for a good winter brew.

Overall not something I would have again but just like the Oktoberfest nothing to avoid. 10x better than pumpkin head so I have no idea why the reviews are so low...
