If you're in Fayetteville, NC and enjoy "spicy" food, you must stop here and try the Spicy Pasta Fra Diablo! It is simply amazing!! As for their brews, most are of the sessionable type, lower .abv, perfect for enjoying their menu. Their Irish Red is very good and their Hefeweizen is true to the style. Just tried their Interpid IIPA tonight and was throughly impressed (see review). I'm an old-fart, so I don't get out and party much these days, but I work with those that do and I'm told the Mash House gets rockin' on the weekends!

Decent selection of beers but they are mostly average at best. The Porter and Stout were the best of the bunch. Went with a larger group. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. The server we had was very attentive.

Stopped for dinner. Place has the vibe of a fancy steakhouse. It is wide open with a long open line for waiters to get food from the kitchen. Had six beers. They covered the basic styles, plus a couple interesting ones, namely a maibock and a red ipa. Service was polite and quick. All of my food was excellent. I had the poutine appetizer which was way too tasty, flavorful and sophisticated. The jambalaya came with grits which were divine. Highly recommend this as a place with good beer and excellent food.

A very good local brew pub / restaurant. Service is always good, the food is delicious, and the beer varieties are great. My favorites are the oyster appetizer, their strip steak, and they have a decent hefeweizen.

This place was great. Great vibe in a wide open space. When you first walk in, the bar area is to your left and the seating/dining area is to your right. Bar is seat yourself, and there are plenty of tables along with the bar seats. Tons of televisions, likely tuned in to all the ACC sporting events. Nice feel, and this place gets packed on weekends, but you never really feel packed. It gets loud, but you never feel like you are shouting or being deafened by the ambient noise. Really good atmosphere overall. The staff is very helpful, prompt, and friendly. The food was great. There is quite a selection, with some gastropub, some steak house, some TexMex, and even some Italian. Really something for everyone. The beer selection was very decent. I think they had 9 taps going when I was there. Seasonal offerings rotate, and samplers are available to try things out before you decide. Beer to go is also an option, with growlers available through the bar. Very reasonably priced, and in Fayetteville, craft beer options are limited, so this place is definitely worth checking out.

Stop #413 on world brewery tour during an unusual snowstorm for this part of the country.

Visited after dinner and beers at the other brewpub in town - Huske Hardware.

Mash house is more of an upscale establishment on the outskirts of town and right next to a bunch of hotels (including the one we were staying at which was nice).

They had a Belgian Triple and a silver medal GABF IPA which I found myself getting a couple of - very nice.

The servers were a couple of young community college kids who had no interest in interacting with the customers. It was pretty funny that after they served a beer to someone at the bar they would turn their back to talk to each other and ignore the customers. Had the service been better, my score would be inline with the overall average.

The wife and I were on our way to Disney World and we choose Fayetteville as our in-between stop from DC to Orlando. We stayed at the Wingate next door. Highly recommend that place.

Atmosphere: We got there late at night after being in a car for 6 hours, but we thought it was rather peaceful, especially considering it was a Friday night. Inside, there were lots of tanks and whatnot. One note: The entranceway reminded us of a Hollywood movie.

Quality and Service: Impeccable all around. Our waitress absolutely loved her job, spent a good amount of time talking to us, had a good understanding of the beers, and allowed us to stay a little while after closing.

Selection: Every craft bar should have such. All the standard styles were represented.

Food: We had some nachos and one other appetizer and they were both excellent.

Value: I've lived in DC for over a decade now and have lost my compass in this area. To me, the prices we amazing.

Visited the Mash House on the last day of a business trip. Nice looking modern decor. I thought it was a chain. Lots of nooks and crannies as well as a large dining area. A very comfortable place. I didn't notice any guest beers. They had their own Red Ale, Hefe, IPA, Porter and Stout as the regular beers with a Maibock as the special beer.

The waitress was reasonably knowledgeable on beer, nice looking, pleasant and efficient.

Good selection of appetizers and entrees I had nachos and a Balsamic Chicken dish that were both good.

The beers came in appropriate glasses. The Hefeweizen and IPA were solidly representative of style...not spectacularly WOW!!! but good all the same. I had the Maibock at the end and after the meal and 2 other beers...the last one being an IPA...I probably was not in the best position to rate it (so I won't). It seemed pretty good though. A good a bit pricy but an overall pleasant evening with good beer.

Stopped by this brewpub while visiting Fayetteville, on a Saturday night.

The place was full, there was a wait for the dining area, so we took one of the small tables in the bar section. Atomsphere was similar to most modern restaurants, but after about 9:30pm, they had a DJ in the bar area and karaoke.

The quality and selection of the beers was about average, they had 7 or 8 beers available. Nothing too crazy or aventurous, but enough variety that you could find a style you would like. They offered 4oz sample flights, pints, and then a few varieties of large vessels for sharing.

Our server was attentive and friendly, and the appetizers we ordered were fine. Beer was priced fine, but the cocktails and food was a bit high.

The Mash House is a popular place, however, it is Fayetteville, NC. so enough said. This visit two weeks ago was my third time in the Mash House, first time to try the food.

A very attractive hostess took us to our table. I ordered a porterhouse and the beer sampler. The service was great, very friendly staff.

The Hefeweizen was good, far from being a great Hefewiezen. I would drink this beer again at the Mash House, it was the best of the four offered. Good flavor and aroma, ended up with three glasses.

The Porter was simply not good, very disappointing as I rarely find a Porter that I don't like.

The Stout was really bad, tasted like someone dumped a large pot of very stale coffee amongst other things into the vat. Again, it is rare that I find a Stout that I don't like, this one was just plain bad.

The other beer was drinkable, but not noteworthy.

Oh, by the way the steak was a great disappointment, ordered extra rare, served nearly medium. Definitely not worth the money.

Overall, when in Fayetteville, NC. there are worse places to eat and have a beer. I will state that the service and employees were great, yes, I will return and no, I will not order food as it is very overpriced.

The Mash House brewpub is in a modern stand alone building not far from the shopping center area. It's designed like a chain restaurant in that one is confronted by the hostess stand upon entering the front door. The large bar area is to the left, and a very large dining area to the right. The brewing operation is visible through windows behind the bar. They have 5 year round brews on tap, as well as a seasonal, and no guest beers. The beers are tasty and seem true to style. An award from the GABF is on display as well as local awards. The food was good but seemed pricey.

Dropped in for a lite lunch while passing nearby. I did the beer sampler and it was overall average. The IPA was by far the best offering; the beers tend to be either thin or lacking of character but generally without flaws except for the porter which had a lacto bacillus infection (dump it). The food was quite good. White table cloths, chops & beer are an intersting combo; I'd personally feel more comfortable without the fine dining formality... Did I mention the food was really good? I give the beer a C and the food will not disappoint.

Visited the Mash House with some friends as part of a brew pub tour of Fayetteville. We stopped here for lunch and sampled all of their house beers. The atmosphere is everything you'd expect from a chop-house-style restaurant: a bit dimly lit in an elegant kind of way, wood trimmed dining room, open kitchen. The menu was a combination of steak house luxury and brew pub fare. Being lunch, we stuck to the sandwiches and pizzas and were certainly happy with our selections.

Regarding the beer, we got a few "Mondo Mash" samplers of all of their beers as well as a couple of glasses of their special Jack'd up Stout to try. While not the most adventurous or complex beers, each one was quite good. One small downside was that the server, although quite nice and attentive, was certainly not well-versed in craft beer, often commenting that "my husband likes that one". I'd be willing to give her a pass since it was a Saturday afternoon, but I have a feeling that this place is aiming for the staff to meet the needs of the chop house crowd more than the craft beer crowd. That being said, it is still obvious that the beer is an integral part of the restaurant's vision and not a mere afterthought.

Overall, a very nice menu and tasty, well-made beers make this one a great place for a nice dinner on the weekend or drinks with friends.

The place is located by a few hotels in the area which makes it easy to walk to. The Wyngate Hotel we were at actually had a 15% discount at the Mash House which was appreciated.

The bar area on the left overlooks some of the brewing equipment. Not big but has about 10 stools. A smallish back room has some hightops for playing the electronic quiz game seen at some bars. The dining room is large and overlooks the kitchen area. There is also some outdoor seating here.

The food was good, not great as the steaks were of so-so quality, but the appetizers were good. There were 8 beers available - an IPA, Summer Ale, Hefe, Belgian Dubbel, Brown Porter, Blonde Ale, Stout, and a Irish Red. The beers varied from weak (Summer, Blonde, Belgian Dubbel), to decent (IPA, Brown Porter).

Service was very good in the dining room, less so at the bar. Prices are $2.50 for one beer style each day, and all beers are $2.50 on Sunday.

If you are in the area this place is worth the stop if you want some locally produced beers. Making this a straight beer destination may not advised.

I am a big Mash House fan. Everytime I travel through Fayetteville, I stay at the Extended Stay across the street so I can partake of their fine selection.
They usually have all their beers on tap, as well as a couple seasonals. Their Ravishing Red is my favorite here.
I am a huge fan of anywhere that sells growlers as well.
Every day another beer is the "beer of the day," and it is only $2.50. You can see which one it will be for that day on their website. On Sundays they also have good beer specials--all drafts $2.50.
Overall very good, and the food is tasty, but you will walk out having spent quite a bit more than expected from a brewery.

Went to the Mash House in Fayetteville, NC during a recent work trip. Typical brewpub setup with wood and stone accents and white tablecloths. The beers are the typical run larger, pale ale, red, and porter. However, while I was there they had a Belgian Dubbel, a Hefe, and an IPA. Both the Hefe and the IPA were very good. The food was very good. I had the "Heart Healthy" chicken breast and a side of asparagus, very nice. The wait staff was very good and seemed knowledgeable of the beer.

During my drive up I-95 from Florida to Virginia I stopped in Fayetteville for the night. My hotel was just off the interstate, and the drive to this brewpub was actually quite easy.

When I got there (on a Friday evening around 7:30) the hostess said the wait for a table was about 30-40 minutes, but I could grab a seat in the bar if one was available. Since I was alone, i headed for the bar and took the last empty seat.

A waitress quickly greeted me and asked it it was my first time there. I said it was, and she quickly mentioned the different beers to me. Six year-round brews (blonde lager, hefeweizen, Irish red, porter, stout, and IPA) and three rotating brews (summer wheat ale, maibock, and a cherry flavored beer).

Pints are $4, but the waitress mentioned that the Brown Porter was on special for $2.50 that night. I asked for an Irish red, and she asked if I wanted to try it first, which I thought was a nice gesture. She brought a sample (~1 ounce) which I tried and decided not to order after all, saving me a few bucks. I ended up getting the sampler, which is 4 ounces of each of the 9 brews for about $8. My favorites were the hefe, porter, stout, IPA, and the summer wheat. The stout was on a nitro-tap, but tasted pretty good. The cherry beer tasted kinda gross, like they took the blonde and added cherry syrup.

The food menu was also pretty decent. The bread they brought out first was very good. They have a pretty decent steak menu for a brewpub. I just ordered a burger, which arrived very quickly and was delicious.

Aside from the beer, they also have homemade vodka brews, which are vodka-infused flavored drinks. I think they had grape, apple, and two other flavors. I didn't try any of them, but they sounded very good, and I might order one next time.

They also sell growlers to go, which is very cool. After a tough debate I ended up with a growler of the porter (which barely won over the stout and IPA). Growlers were only $12 (for 64 ounces), $8 if you already have the glass.

If you're in Fayetteville and looking for some good beer (or even a good place to eat), I highly recommend the Mash House. The only downside is the smoking, but it wasn't too bad. It might get a bit busy on the weekends, but the beer and food are definitely worth it.

Pretty decent brews but the thing that stood out in my opinion is the fact that they do not serve the respective beers in their proper glasses. I am a wheat beer fan and every time I have gone there, I have been served the hefe or other wheat beer in a standard pint glass.
I also found that there hefe was a bit boring and undercarbonated than I would like. I havent had the IPA recently but in the past, I was a huge fan. I recommend this place but its not on par with some other brewerys I have ventured into.

As with most vacations I have to find at least one brewpub to visit. On our way to Savannah, Georgia, we stopped over one night in Fayetteville and stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham (which is right next door to the brewhouse). This made it very convenient as we were able to walk there from the hotel.

We sat in the bar area which seats well over 30 folks, 15 at the bar and 5 bar tables seating 3 each. There is also a smoke free area with 8 more bar tables. They also have a lounge area with a fireplace, leather couch and chairs. They also have a dining area, which I did not get a good look at. The only drawback for a long hair like me is that you are in a military town (Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force base are located in Fayetteville) and the bar was filled with buzzcuts. I was definitely an outsider, but nobody bothered me.

I ordered the sampler which came with 9 brews: Natural Blonde, Hefeweizen, Irish Red, Nut Brown, Brown Porter, Stout, Smokin Brown Ale, Rasberry Blonde, and a Maibock. They did not have their IPA due to the hop shortage. I noticed an individual mentioned this in his February review. Our server told us the same story. I took notes for each beer which I could add here, but I think it is just easier to say that I enjoyed each beer. The smokin brown ale was the only one that really threw a curve ball. The hickory smoked flavor may not be enjoyed by all. My wife didn't really care for it, but she really liked the rasberry blonde.

My wife and I did order dinner while we were there; she had the Blackened Tilapia while I had the Black Angus Steak Oscar. We were told that all the food is homemade. The entrees come with their bread which came piping hot and with the flavored butter; we devoured every slice. My wife's tilapia was seasoned well and was not overly blackened nor was it overly spicy. So if you like it hot you should ask for them to kick it up a notch. The fish was also warm and could have been a bit hotter. The steak oscar, which I ordered medium rare, was more medium, but still very juicy and too my liking. I gave the food portion of our visit a B+. They also had a very nice desert selection.

A couple other items to mention: they have their own flavored vodkas and you can get growlers to go. They also sell kegs and ponmy kegs of their beer. Overall, I would have to say that if you are anywhere near Fayetteville, NC you should check out the Mash House.

We were visiting Fayetteville and, of course, checked out the local brewpub. As others have said, it's in a odd spot, across from the mall and in the shadow of a freeway, but the inside more than makes up for it. The interior makes a very good impression of a real British pub - especially in the lounge area with (faux?) tin ceiling. They've done a nice job of translating that feel into a space that is much larger than you'd find in the British Isles.

There is a good selection of beers, both British and German styles. They offer a Porter, Stout, Irish Red, a Blonde and Hefeweizen. They had two seasonals, a Schwarzbier and a Nut Brown. Our server said that the IPA was not being brewed because of the hops shortage. That's the first time I'd heard that given as an excuse for that... The three of us ordered samplers so as to be able to try everything. Everything was fairly standard, with the exception of the Hefeweizen, which had a much more complex flavor that I have come to expect from these. (It shows how much more we expect out of brewpubs today when brewing six beers well is run of the mill!)

Our server was prompt and friendly - my only complaint is that he insisted on going through his "what is a brewpub" speech even when we told him that we were quite familiar with the concept.

The food was good, if a bit pricey. The kitchen made a couple of mistakes, which were quickly fixed. (Is nachos "with grilled chicken" supposed to have beef underneath?)

All in all, this was a quality establishment, and I look forward to visiting there again soon - possibly at happy hour, though!

This brewpub is by far my favorite place to go in Fayetteville. I have a few friends stationed in the area, and ever since they discovered this place, it has been a staple of their diet, and if I lived there, It would be for me too! The brew selection and quality is superb, and while the service there has never been very adequate, the beer overpowers it by far. I love the bar setting, sort of an old english all wooden deal, with a large window into the vat house. I highly recommend paying them a visit, and don't forget to grab a growler of Hoppy Hour for the road (Don't drink and drive).

The Mash House is a pleasant surprise in Fayetteville. I sort of like my brewpubs in a more interesting location (as opposed to in the burbs by the Mall like this place) but the Mash House more than makes up for the location with the food and the beer. I couldn't believe how many beers they had on tap and there wasn't a bad brew in the sampler I ordered. The steak was excellent and the service was really pleasant. The place was packed for midweek but I easily found a table in the bar. This restaurant changed my whole impression of Fayetteville.

WOW! What a wonderful place to enjoy beer! The atmosphere is upper class and the selection of beer is excellent. Mash House brews over 20 beers on location throughout the year and they have no less than 8 on tap at a time!

Try the beer sampler. Either 4 or 8, 4 oz beers (depending on whether you choose the small or large sampler) you can experience the diversities of their brews and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere along with great food and friends!
To those who would like additional help in determining a beer to accompany your meal, their brew masters are on hand in order to assist in just that.

Mash house is one of the few locations that I found to be appealing to the palate for both food and beer.

I had the pleasure of trying out the Mash House last week and I was very impressed with what they have to offer.
The IPA was stellar, complex, the way I prefer, with a huge hoppy punch, finished off piney, citrusy goodness. Balanced and complementary.
It's weight was perfect, a crisp, refreshing heft without being too filling.
The meal was fantastic, more of a restaurant, not the standard pub food. A notch above what one may expect from a brewpub.
If I ever pass through Fayetteville in the future, I will return
