Visited The Bierhaus on 9th November, 2006. It is a modern glass fronted establishment with a café style interior with some leather couches.

Located on Pope's Quay just at the footbridge over the Lee, it is just a stroll along from the Franciscan Well Brewpub.
For an Irish pub, it has a very good selection of beers. Eleven on tap (Staropramen, Hoegaarden, Guinness, Murphy's, Bulmers, Carlsberg, Heineken, Krombacher, Erdinger, and 2 from Franciscan Well; Rebel Red and Friar Weisse. They also had a guest tap of Bel Pils.
They have a bottled beer menu (a rarity in Ireland) that has a reasonable selection of standard Belgians, such as Duvel, Delerium Tremens etc. and a couple of German brews.

The atmosphere could not be described as "cosy" but well worth a visit.

My favourite place in Cork. I like to visit earlier as I like to have my beer in peace. Very helpful staff, handy location thats not far from the center of town. And a nice selection of beers. Well worth checking out. the tap line up features many Irish beers and always an option on cask too. If you want to check out Irish craft beer, this is the place to do it.

By far the best bar in Cork for a beerhunter, has the look and feel of a Belgian/Dutch cafe to it. Single room with a few chairs outside on the pavement. The floor is wooden, with blue tiles around the bar area. The walls and celling are covered with flags, beer memorabilia and chalkboards listing the beers available.

I used the place twice on a cold November Saturday in 2010. At 19.00 the place was quiet and a TV was showing a repeat Rugby match, no one seemed to be watching it (I did, it was of England beating Australia earlier in the day). At 23.00 the place was heaving, a DJ playing classic rock sounds (Brown Sugar, etc, etc).

The tap selection was large, the bottle selection huge: I didn't note them all, but here is a mini list, on tap first; Hoegaarden, Krombacker Pils, Erdinger Wiessbier, Pilsner Urquell, Gulden Draak, Porterhouse Oyster Stout and some Irish Keg stuff as well.

The Oyster Stout was to die for, really creamy and rich.

The bottles were impressive, some unusual ones in the mix; Harvistoun, Meantime, BrewDog, Brooklyn, Wells Banana Beer and Youngs Double Chocolate to name but a few, plenty of Belgians available too.

A very nice place to drink in and as mentioned at the begining, the best bar by far in Cork that I found. I just felt at home straight away.

Hit the bierhaus hoping to find some unusual Irish beers. Not finding much out of the ordinary, I enjoyed a few Murphy's stouts. When I tried to enjoy a Murphy's in Limerick, I was constantly reminded that Limerick is a Guinness town. Cork is a Murphy's town, it appears. They had several import lagers, and I'd say almost as many lagers were being enjoyed as stouts. But true to Irish bartenders, the stout is not served until the pour is perfect. A very Irish pub - definitely worth a visit if you're in Cork.
