Just another high end grocery store that simply has to have a craft section to gain some street cred with beer geeks.

Fairly weak selection. Handful of Midwest usuals. Some of the more popular imports and vast array of oddball stuff I haven't seen anywhere before. Nothing you would actually want to drink but unusual enough to pique the interest of the "high class" people who spend there money here.

The whole trader joe's line of beers is well represented. Again not something I would buy since I'm a self proclaimed snob but that's just me. A tiny single section with more throw away beer.

No service which is typical for a grocery store.

I would never make this a destination for beer but they do have some great ethnic and organic food.

Trader Joe's Glendale location's beer section consists of one, five-shelved aisle; two end caps; and a tiny, three-shelf refrigerated area.

With perennial favorites from Anchor Steam; Bell's; Black Toad; Capital; Dogfish Head; Flying Dog; North Coast; New Glarus; Otter Creek; Rogue; Sierra Nevada; Stockyard and Trinity, you're bound to find a fermented malt beverage of choice.

Trader Joe's also carries a variety of styles under the TJ Craft Brewed label: lager; bock; hefeweizen, etc. It appears these offerings are contract-brewed by Josephs Brau, San Jose - which also has a presence in the store.

Apart from their house label, Trader Joe's carries a few labels exclusive to the chain, like Fat Weasel Ale and Gila Monster Amber Lager.

As far as imports go, I discovered cans of German and Dutch lagers; BrouCzech selections; Mexican cervezas; and 550-750 ml. bottles of Samuel Smith's, Belgian Lambics and Trappist Ales. I also spotted some Young's Special London Ale and Double Chocolate Stout.

On a budget? You'll find Frugal Joe's Ordinary Beer for $4.99/6-PK, as well as seasonal specials, and odd-ball closeouts like Kennebunkport Pumpkin Ale (in the middle of April) for $3.99 a sixer.

Blink and you'll miss it. TJ's has a cubby hole that whispers Grab A Single, with prices ranging from .34 to $1.67. Yes, quite a range.

Which, in the end, is what this place is all about - value. From a 6-pack of local cans for $2.29 to a bottle of Chimay Grand Reserve for $12.99, you'll find it here. Here, being an amazing grocery food destination, but not a strong enough beer emporium to go out of your way for.

Then again, if it's mini-beef tacos you're after.

stopped in here with a friend not expecting to find any good beer. there is a moderate selection here at best, but to the stores credit it was all imports and microbrews, no BMC here. a wild card of a singles shelf saw me walk away with a few mexican brews i have never heard of and a couple others i would never think to try otherwise.

the singles selection is really the only section working to Trader Joe's in the brew department. most of what is here will not suprise many, and what is here that is unique to the store is not top of the line to begin with.

worth a stop if one is around Bayshore Mall, but otherwise one will not be missing much.

Brand new Trader Joes just went in by my house at Bayshore. The liquor department (including only wines and beers) is pretty decent with limited offereings. The have their own contracted line f brews which is kind of nice. The have Samuel Smith, Rogue, Liefmans, and some other small Cali brews. The one great discovery is the 2006 vintage ale from Unibroue for $4.99.

Overall, not a beer destination, but a great store in general for organic and hard-to-find foods. The $2.99 Charles Shaw wine is extremely nice for the price. I will be excited to see what types of brews pass through here in the next few months.
