Great place, especially for an out-of-the-way town like Cortez. Good beer selection. I recommend the sampler of course. I recommend their wheat beer, it's got this wierd cantalope aftertaste. All their other brews have unique clean flavors. Clearly the best place to stop if your driving through.
Pretty standard pub fare, with all sorts of burgers, interesting german food, pizzas, etc.
Service was fine. Not the most knowledgable about their brews, but the gal was super nice/quick/friendly. The atmosphere was kinda wierd...in a good way.

Returning from Siebel class in Durango, CO I sat out a downpour that cancelled my visit to nearby Mesa Verde. One of the owners, Susie B. convinced me to have a fantastic burger (Angus was raised on their ranch!). Bar tender was knowledgable and I found a good variety of styles - six beers on tap including a Dopplebock/Amber Ale "blend" that was extremely interesting. Bombers of this and other beers were available. Susie told me that they brought over a German brewmaster to develop most of the beer recipes. Brewery is visable from the Bar and dinning area and has several converted dairy tanks as mash tuns. I shared my bomber of Dopplebock/Amber with a group of brewers in Ft. Collins and they also found it interesting and tasty. This was a great place to eat and drink beer.
Inspite of a smaller selection it was well worth driving over from Durango.

A friendly place with staff that are proud of their product and were happy to share their opinions. Funky interior. Nice long bar.
The brewroom is small and has a squarish mashtun with a holed pipe instead of a screen. I think they keg everything, no holding tank.
The beer is ok, not spectacular but fine to drink. They say tha they like to brew in a German style. The food was good.
Just seemed to have an enjoyable feel about the place.
They sell a limited selection of their beers in bottles for take out.
