2012 beer, reviewed in 2016. Pours very dark brown with a sudsy head that dissipates quickly. Smell is sweet with a huge very dark carmel note. Taste is dark fruit, raisins, etc. Again- a big molasses note with a little burnt bitterness. The 10% isn't noticeable at all. Full bodied and well carbonated. Overall- it's nitpicky but the dark sugar/molasses is strong enough that the beer is a little one note but it's still a very solid quad and a great beer.

A 2012 Reserva poured into my St Bernardus chalice. Sweet, dark fruit complimented so nicely by the oak barrel presence. A pleasure and easy to drink at 10%, one of the best quads I have had recently.

A: Pours a deep brown that is almost black with two fingers of tan head that fades into a frothy ring with little lacing.

S: Sweet candy sugar and Belgian spices up front with date and fig aromas following. The finish has a light Port and oaky aroma.

T: Candy sugar and dark fruits like dates and prunes hit first with a sweet yeasty flavor and oak coming through after. Molasses, hearty bread, and tawny Port flavors come though as well with a finish that has only a hint of alcohol warmth.

M: Medium body with moderate carbonation, this beer is dangerously drinkable for its abv.

O: An incredible beer, overall, and one of the best quads out there.

Drank the 2012 at Beer Mania in Brussels. Absolutely amazing beer! Very complex, smooth with a slight sweetness. This is one of if not my all time favourite beer I've ever tasted!

2010 bottle consumed on March 22 2016.

Pours good and looks great, with a hefty head that lasts for a while and some lacing.

Smells like raisins, flowers, sugar and countryside. A quad, yes, but a lot more nuanced/smooth.

The taste follows the nose, with dark fruit, figs, pureed dates, sweetness and a tad of freshly-licked oak.

Unfortunately the mouthfeel is shot and gone; watery-thin, oxidated and damaging to the quality of the beer overall.

Overall this brew is nice enough and rather drinkable for the ABV, but it falls way short of the expectactions.

I would assume that drinking this fresh(er) would be advisable.

330ml bottle. 2010 vintage. Bottled on 2014-11.

A: Hazy dark brown. Poured 1.5 fingers high of head.
S: Caramel, toffee, and oak. Hints of raspberry. Quite aromatic.
T: Toffee and chocolate. Medium sweetness. Low bitterness. Hints of vanilla aftertaste.
M: Full body. Moderate carbonation.
O: Perfect. I cannot get wrong for this beer. The best thing is it's easy to be obtained with fair price.
