2010 vintage enjoyed in 2019.

Murky brown body without anyhead

Dates, prunes, toffee, dark malts, brown sugar both in smell and taste.
The beer seems old with some fainted notes
The mouthfeel is velvety

Not as good as the latest version of Pannepot but still a nice beer

Odd that I haven't rated this since I've had it many times. Cracked a 2008 today and its held up quite well. Little bit of cardboard and solvent but otherwise its held up really well. Fruity prune and raisins with bits of caramelized honey.

2010 vintage poured from fridge temp, but allowed to warm over 30 minutes. Pours a nice dark brown - almost black. Good carbonation and a nice light head from a aggressive pour. Nose is raisin, fig, chocolate, and some light spice. Really nice and smooth. Also getting some toffee notes. Taste is really amazing. Lots of dark fruit - cherries and blackberries mostly. Raisin, fig, bread, spice, vanilla, toffee, bitter coffee, chocolate, and maybe some tobacco. Such a nice level of complexity matched with an amazing smoothness. Mouthfeel is really robust and creamy. This is just amazing for a seven year old beer.

2012 bottle poured into tulip glass.

A: almost no head whatsoever, body is a murky brown brackish in nature.

S: Lots of honeyed, figs, apricots, sweet burnt sugars, and doughy sweet breads.

T: Deep rich figs and dates with a little raisin some burnt sugars a little honey , clove.

M: Nice very soft body, almost no carbonation, alcohol is insanely well hidden. Body is a tad watery.

O: this beer is fantastic, this is one of my favorite styles as it is so complex flavorwise. This one does not disappoint and the alcohol is well hidden, just wish it wasn't so watery.

This Old Monk's Ale is outstanding. It is a robust darker Belgian quad that tastes perfectly roasted with a carmelized sweetness and very little bitter on the tongue. It has a hearty feel without being too "thick". The 10% abv is not in your face. It is incredibly enjoyable.

Pannepeut '10

Pours a clear, dark brown color with a small, stable beige head.

Smells of toasty spices, peaty earth and dried figs, topped off by milk chocolate. Has some earthy malts and a good anount of herbal licorice to it, balancing the well pronounced sweetness.

Drinks very soft, silk, with just a very subtle carbonation, soothing the beers bigger body, which produces an immense spectrum of different flavors.

Tastes of toasted walnuts, earth and a perfectly evolving sweetness from this rustic, yet smooth foundation. Brings some dried cherries to the palate, dusty bakers chocolate, black pepper hull, anise and rock sugar to round out the balance in this. Its midpalate is increadibly creamy with a taste defining rusty maltiness, together with peppery spices. Finishes with long lasting caramel and a late, subtle dryness, ranging from herbal to earthy coffee, wrapped up by old oak and cardamom.

This is amazing, incredibly complex and well composed, a true revelation from a well regarded brewery I just coulnd't get to love until now. Very rustic, with a well balanced sweetness, strong with a unique, malt wrapped spice profile.
