Draft at Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2012. Had a tasting glass of this one.

Unfiltered & unpasteurized lager. Dry-hopped with Cascade.

Appearance: Clear pale golden with virtually no white head.

Smell: Slightly sweet with white sugar. Overall the nose is rather weak with some weak raw & lightly bitter grassy hops.

Taste: I am getting some light, bitter hops. Light citrus and grape hopes. Doesn’t taste particularity atypical for a pilsner, light hints of yeast and straw, crisp with only small hints of hop bitterness and citrus.

Body: Easy to drink but also quite watery.

Overall: Honestly not that different from most macro pilsners from Germany. Nothing off with it but it is just very weak and bland. Interesting style to tackle but no particularly more interesting than most beers of its kind. I honestly expected more from Struise. This was a one time type of deal it seems, I assume that they weren’t to content themselves either.
