Nice bubbles but no foam. Light brown color. Medium body. Definitely has a red wine profile. But also sweetness for malts. It is quite similar to a winter warmer. High alcohol, the drink slowly and enjoy !

330ml bottle served in a sample-sized snifter. Side of the label says VINTAGE 2012, the other side of the label says the bottling date is 12/07/2016. The cap says 1042012. Received this beer from @Beersnake1.

Pours a pretty toffee-brown color, fairly clear, with a smallish head that fades to a tiny ring, but still has a moderate amount of very fine, very slow active carbonation. Smell is dates, raisins, maybe prunes. Maybe a little root beer or horehound, something dark and earthy which I think might be described as leather.

Taste is toned-down sweetness, molasses isn't the right word. Prunes and dates for sure, maybe like a figgy character, something that reminds me of fruitcake. A little bit of bitterness, maybe something like wood tannins or even bark. Remembering that it spent some time in wine barrels, I could see a bit of a wine grape flavor.

Mouthfeel is surprisingly light, dry, and clean. Overall, this is a very good, very impressive beer.

Decanted from a 11.2 oz bottle into a Chimay goblet. 2012 Vintage per label.

A: Reddish brown hue with short-lived off-white foamy 1/2-finger head with minimal retention and no lacing.

S: Date, prune, raisin, brown sugar, leather, and oak woodiness are the main aromas for me.

T: Flavor is much more expressive than the aroma with solid background maltiness with accents of brown sugar, date, raisin, prune, plum, and plenty of oak tannin to help dry it out. Esters are low and earthy, Bitterness is moderate. This beer leaves a sweet impression overall without any cloying qualities.

M: Smooth and silky with low-medium carbonation and full body.

O: A very enjoyable quadruple ale from De Struisse — top notch.

Bottled July 12th 2016.

It pours a light brown with reddish hues and a long lasting head of foam.

The smell is sweet with what I reckon is candi sugar. Oak and Bourbon are there in spades. Fantastic nose.

Sweet brown sugar/candi sugar taste, Bourbon and oak compliment it so nicely. No bitterness that I can detect and the ample abv is well hidden.

Close to full bodied with medium carbonation. There's definitely some oxidation going on but to my palate, it does no harm.

Wonderful!

Purchased from Rustico-Arlington via their online COVID delivery for $13 on 5/6/20. 11.2oz. Vintage 2012. N° 12 – BRAND. Bottle cap code 9410060, 1042012. Bottling date – 12/07/2016. Poured into a small stemmed tulip (my go to glass). Described on the bottle as a “dark strong ale.”

Yummy! A well-rounded beer that checks all of my style equivalent boxes for a quad. I would love the chance to do a side-by-side with Westy-12. Wish this beer gave me just a bit more creaminess. 4.75

A – Pours a clear dark amber with a two-finger rocky off-white head. The head dissipates quickly to a thin layer. Good carbonation. Average lacing. 4.75

S – Aromas, of dark fruits, raisins, dates, fermented grapes, brown sugar sweetness but not cloying, some faint spiciness. 4.75

T – Raisins, spiciness, brown sugar, malty sweet brown bread. Definitely some vinous-like qualities. The ABV shows just a bit. 4.75

MF – Medium heavy body with a slightly sweet finish. Coating on the palate, but the carbonation gives the beer a bite. Warming. 4.5

11.2oz bottle brewed in 2012, bottled 12/07/2016 (just over 3 years ago) after a double barrel treatment of wine then bourbon casks. Poured into a chalice at just above fridge temp 10.5% ABV. The beer pours hazy medium amber in color with meager khaki head. The head recedes to fluffy ring and small island of tiny bubbles. The aroma offers brown sugar, grape, cola, dried fruit and faint oak in an ever changing and complex presentation. The taste is rich chewy caramel, dried dark fruit, subtle cherry and dark candi sugar with a drying, mildly bitter, mildly oaky finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with pleasant, slightly above average carbonation. No trace of alcohol in the taste or aroma. No cloying sweetness. Overall, excellent. This is a standard bearer for the style with the wine & bourbon barrel influence interwoven so seamlessly that those flavors are lost in the Quad.

This is a smaller bottle, "11.2FL. OZ 10.5% ALC/VOL." as indicated by the label.
From the cap: 9410060 1042012"

Appearance: The beer pours a tawny brown that is dark enough to not let any light in. The head is short and tobacco stained tan. Good head retention.

Aroma: There is an immediate aroma of caramel, dates, and brown sugar. It smells enticing.

Taste: That sugary sweetness hits the palate up front and in force; white sugar first, then some caramel sweetness, followed by some dates, and finished off with brown sugar, bourbon, and a hint of spiced rum.

Mouthfeel: The body is medium but trends towards the lighter side while the glass remains cool. It is smooth and easy to drink with a pleasantly sweet dessert drinking experience.

Overall: It's a well-made Belgian Quad. It has a lot of sweetness and character which makes it the perfect dessert or special occasion beer. I would love to drink it again and I would highly recommend it to those who might enjoy a Belgian Quad that leans more towards the sweeter side and has a bit less Belgian Yeast character. I enjoyed the beer a lot.
