2013 vintage opened on a cold, snowy 1/4/18. Main flavors I get are raisins, plums, and figs with a nice smooth mouthfeel from the barrel. An enjoyable winter brew.

11.2 oz bottle, dated 2013; I had it in a side-by-side with a 2015 .

This beer was similar to the regular Tsjeeses, but noticeably sweeter, with the port wine notes coming through. This is definitely a dessert beer, so the regular goes better with savory food.

Pours a ruddy maroon color. Opaque but somewhat thinner in appearance. Thick tan head dissipates quickly leaving no residual lacing or head.

Aroma has notes of tart cherries, some funky yeast and some wheat malts. Lots of port notes come through on the nose as you'd expect.

Taste has notes of wheat, grain, some earthy yeast notes and tons of tart cherries and sweet port grapes. The port barrel aging gives this more of a port flavor than any type of barrel flavors. Not getting a ton of oak, although there is some there.

Lightly carbonated with a slight fizzy sensation in the throat. Smooth thick coating feel to the beer.

Overall a really nice and very unique beer.

I just had Port Wine Barrel Aged Struise Tjeeses Reserva. The Port Wine is quite prominent. I also had the Bourbon Barrel Aged version of this not too long ago, and the Bourbon was prominent in that one. if you like that these are great beers.

Look: amber to brown color, like dark caramel, a thick off-white head

Aroma: port wine, raisin, caramel

Taste: It's caramel, raisins, and lots of port wine, a bit boozy. If you like port wine you'll like it.

Feel: medium to full body

2013 vintage. Bottled July 2014; drank 4/18/17 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy orange/red rust appearance.

A rough pour yielded a HUGE khaki head (careful pouring); almost no lace.

Raisin, leather, port wine & apple cider notes in the nose.

Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Leather, apple cider & plum flavors up front; faint baking soda bite on the finish. Faint port heat emerged as this warmed.

Drinkable, and this certainly made me feel good, but this isn't anything to write home about after about 3 years in the bottle.

Pours opaque, chestnut brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is raisin, fig, caramel, and port--cherries, and wood. Medium-heavy bodied, sweet, sticky, with moderate carbonation. Tasty..Christmas in a bottle. Perfect wrapping of presents beer. Will look to make a glass of this a holiday tradition.

Served in a tulip glass from a vintage 2013 bottle here at Cerveceria Esparte in Conil, Spain.

Appearance: Hazy Amber with an orange tinted head rising to maybe half a finger's length.

Smell: sweet honey scent.

Taste: Mixed malts with descent citrus tones which might come off sweet closer to the tones of brown sugar with hints of yeast. Creates a sour feel to the brew which might confuse you a bit.

Mouth: Medium carbonation but very sticky feel. Maple syrup finish.

Overall: Very good brew, might need a bit of tweaking but worth inhaling if you ever see it. Drink with lust my friends. Salud!
