Not supper hazy, no big hops in the sniff, but really nice, great taste, very smooth, not surprising that the beer is no nice as it's from Bear Republic, and great I can pick up a six at TJs!

Moderately hazy and wispy head. One of my go-to hazy IPAs that's "easily crushable". Vic Secret, Citra and Galaxy hops. Juicy mouthfeel with a dry finish. My favorite part of this beer is that it is initially malty but quickly finishes with a mildly bitter piny citrus. Huge, slightly fruity citrus with a hint of pungent notes. I've been moving away fro IPA's recently, but the slight maltiness and light bitterness makes Thru the Haze from the Bear Republic a go-to IPA for me. A good way to get my polyphenols without the thick bitter hazy IPA experience I'm used to. Not a true murky hazy IPA, but maybe that's why I like it.

murky, straw yellow. a fairly aggressive pour yielded a white, one-finger head
lots of citrus on the nose
tastes of tropical fruits and citrus. delicious bitterness
full mouthfeel. finish id bitter with a nice hint of sweetness
liked this beer ... a lot. I've been on a bit of a hazy kick as of late and this is the best 'new to me' I've had lately.

Thru The Haze that’s what they say... And have a sip, Raul did. First off, to call this one Hazy is misleading. It really is a maybe slightly murky straw. You know, like a horse eating breakfast ‘straw.’ On the nose is pretty good citrus like a holiday with Rita Hayworth. Sign me up! Taste is about as cool as a pogo stick though. You do a few hops, and then you’re over it a minute later.

And that’s the problem with Bear Republic. Why care about them anymore? Who cares about them anymore? Keep churning out average beers with no bottling dates and you will die a slow death (like they are).

Peace!

Not hazy, a nice surprise, but rather a crystal clear golden brew with plenty of foam in the Blanche de Chambly glass. Quite fragrant. Hops are listed as Vic Secret, Citra, and Hallertau Blanc. Tastes of green melon, lime, and pineapple. Mild flavors with just the right touch of biterness to finish.

This is a really tasty IPA with more flavor and less hysteria. I will have to look for a six pack of these. I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality and interest of the new beers I've tried from Bear Republic this fall. From the 12 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market in San Diego.

I think this is a severely underrated beer. Doesn’t look like much, doesn’t have a real strong smell but mouth feel and taste are really fantastic. Good stuff.

BOTTLE: A sixer ran me $14 with tax Sunrise Minimart in Austin, TX. Ain't many breweries I'd trust to put out a good IPA more than Bear Republic, so here we go:

APPEARANCE: Murky yellow-copper. Not terribly hazy/turbid nor terribly vibrant. Head is off-white, a bit fluffy, somewhat soft, and generally inviting. Fails to stand out appearance-wise.

AROMA: Tangerine, citrus, mango, yogurt, fruit creamsicle, faint vanilla, lemon drop candies. Pale malt sweetness blends neatly with the hop aromatics, though this doesn't seem horribly pungent hopwise. Aromatic intensity is mild.

Free of any off-notes or overt booze.

TASTE: The yogurty hop flavour is pleasant, folded in with notes of tangy tropical fruit, muted citrus fruits, lemon, and subtle grapefruit. Not too bitter but not horribly pungent either. Has a nice hop profile though I can't say it's extraordinary in today's oversaturated IPA landscape.

A pleasant and approachable flavour profile with no off-flavours or overt alcohol warmth detectable.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, refreshing, crisp, fresh, cool. Not astringent, harsh, rough, scratchy, or otherwise problematic.

OVERALL: It's a solid beer in its substyle, but fails to showcase its selected hop varietals to any truly impressive extent. A drinkable IPA with mild turbidity and a pleasant hop flavour. Doesn't rival Bear Republic's Racer 5 in terms of quality, but it's certainly better than most so-called "hazy IPAs" I've tried to date.

Hazy sunshine yellow color with a white head that tracks down the glass. Really nice citrus aromas, with grapefruit and white grapes most prominent (thank you, Hallertau Blanc hops!).

The grapefruit is front and center on the taste, and the white grapes are an excellent wingman. My only wish is that the malt was a bit more involved, because the dry finish is spot on.

I haven’t had anything from Bear Republic in a while, so I’m really glad they showed up in my local. They execute everything they brew really well in my experience.

Glass: Firestone 14-oz. Teku glass

Picked this up on a trip to Trader Joe’s. Had seen it before, but not sure why I didn’t get it before. Description online read, “This deliciously crushable IPA emphasizes all the awesomeness of Vic Secret, Citra and Hallertau Blanc hops, paired with a dry malt profile. Grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas set the stage for a huge citrus explosion of flavor on your taste buds, without all the bitterness. Onward through the haze!” Bottle replaced Galaxy with Hallertau Blanc. Not a fan of Vic Secret or Hallertau Blanc, so was not expecting much going in.

Poured a medium yellow semi-hazy color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled loads of Citra and a little bit of a Vic Secret/Hallertau Blanc/Galaxy combo. Also grapefruit, lemon grass, lime zest, white grape, pine needles, herbal, pineapple and tropical passion fruit. Pretty much the same from the bottle. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. A bit maltier than I’d expect for a hazy IPA. Got Citra, Galaxy, bitter grapefruit peel, pineapple, lemon grass, white grape, pine needles, herbal, lime zest and tropical passion fruit. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This beer grew on me as it went down. Really enjoyed it overall. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Pint in a shaker at Malt & Vine.

Pours a hazy golden with a small head and what looks like suspended carbonation. Smell is very juicy.

Taste is a nice blend of east and west coast. It's piney and fruity, not overly juicy. Good balance between opposing profiles.

Mouthfeel is dry and clean. Overall, nice beer.

L: Light yellow in color with opaque appearance. An even and straight pour yielded about a finger of a frothy white cap with generous amounts of soapy lacing that grasp the glass.
S: I am picking up on loads of mixed berry aromas with hints of lemon and mango. It honestly smells quite nice, the only problem is, it isn't pungent. I practically need to submerge my nose into the beer to pick up anything. Regardless, still smells pleasant.
T: Lemondrop candy flavor with grainy undertones. Finish is florally with hints of honeysuckle, citrus and crackery yeast.
F: Medium in body and very light in weight. It is smooth and surprisingly lofty with a nice soft feel to it. Very smooth and enjoyable with the right touch of carbonation.
O: Very light and easy to drink, and brace yourselves, crushable. This would be a noble companion on a warm day, and that is exactly what it is today. I am very glad to try and would give it a try again if I knew when the bottling date was. Cheers!

Bottle poured into a Bear Republic Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little thin lacing.

S: Lively fruity side, tropical and stone fruit, a little citrus, slightly grassy, crackery biscuity malt, and light caramel sweetness.

T: Bright, fruity, tropical, passion fruit and pineapple, peach, apricot, gooseberry, and a hint of white grape, a little citrus, lemon lime and grapefruit, slightly grassy, crackery biscuity malt, and light caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly soft on the palate.

O: Falls somewhere between true NE style and just hazy, but really quite tasty.

Into a Sam Adams "perfect pint glass".
Pours hazy and pale yellow.
First flavor impressions are fruity and sweet in a good way. Mango, edges of pineapple, pear and apple. Pine resin in the finish to remind one that this is an IPA. Very accessible from the style. Not a hop lover's dream but this might be a good option to break up some hop monotony.

Great stuff! For me this style (dry hopped, less bitter hazy-ish West Coast hybrid IPA) and this tart, citrus forward flavor profile is the perfect beer for a warm day. I drank it on a cold night and it was still amazing.

Smell is pungent fruity hops.
Taste is floral pungent fruity hops with a small amount of bread crust malts.
Mouthfeel is light with good carbonation. Finish is medium bitter and dry.
Overall a tasty fruity IPA.

This should be fun. I recently procured this bottle with an etched date of "B S BY 12/17/18 13:41" at a local bottle shop! Ha! Clearly either/both the rep and/or distributor are NOT keeping up to date! Shall I call anybody out? Heck, no! Let them scramble to clean up their own problems. Am I reading this incorrectly? So be it. In the meantime, this shall be fun.

From the Bottle: "This deliciously crushable IPA emphasizes all the awesomeness of Vic Secret, Citra and Hallertau Blanc hops, paired with a dry malt profile. Okay, once again, how do you get to have it BOTH ways?!? Either you are a hazy NEIPA or you are an AIPA, but not both. I will send a Change request, but I am going to review it as a hazy NEIPA. Sue me.

I Pop!ped the cap & began a nice, slow, gentle C-Line pour since a) it was a slow day & b) I wanted to see what developed. I got two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with very good retention & sticky lacing from the effort. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. 8=O How did I know? I could read the Sunday reprints in "The Complete Dick Tracy: Volume 25" through it, which is the litmus test! 8=O Haze?!? Truth in advertising?!? Haze (tm)? 8=p Nose had a pronounced tropical fruitiness of mango, papaya, guava, star fruit, passion fruit & orange/tangerine. Mmm. Mouthfeel was big, full & creamy. Mmm. It was like a scoop of sherbet on the tongue & in the mouth! The taste was a riot of tropical fruity flavors, ranging from mango to orange/tangerine as previously noted with a smidge of banana for all of us monkeys. Mmm. Finish was semi-dry. Shame about its clarity. Just sayin'. YMMV.

The beer pours out a light to medium hazy light golden yellow color, with 1 finger of white head---------- the aromas are of guava, pineapple, floral notes, pine and grapefruit------------ the flavors are of grapefruit, pine and lesser pineapple, the beer has a thin to medium mouthfeel with a light bitterness on the finish--------------- overall this was a nice offering from bear republic, it seems like everyone is jumping on the hazy band wagon. This is not a full on new England ipa it's more of a west coast ipa with some new England nuances

Pours a very hazy golden yellow color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is good. Lacing is great. Nice, juicy, citrus, grapefruit aroma with some piney resin at the end. Less juicy on the taste. Actually more dry at the end. Good grapefruit flavor. Decent bitterness. Mild piney resin. Grapefruit aftertaste. Light bodied with moderate to heavy carbonation.

Best by 12/17/18 Appearance - Pours with a slight haze and yellow in color with a white, half finger head that shows sub-par retention before dying to a thin, broken layer of suds and a thin ring encircling the edge of the glass.

Smell - Light, tropical aroma with notes of guava, pear, passionfruit and mild spice.

Taste - Follows the nose. Light, white grapefruit base highlighted by notes of guava, pear and a very mild spice bite.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a crisp, refreshing finish.

Overall - Not much here, but what is here is interesting, light and refreshing. Maybe something I'd buy again on occasion.
