Café Racer 15Café Racer 15
Notes: Café Racer 15™ features aromas of bright citrus and resinous pine from the generous use of Citra, Amarillo, Cascade and Chinook hops which are complimented by a dry malt finish. The result is a high revving Double IPA that is loud and assertive, much like the rebellious street racers who inspired it. Never ride alone...

Nice caramel presence. Floral with geraniol for sure, rose notes, bitter orange, elderflower, tangerine zest, pine resinous bitterness.
Smooth mouthfeel.
Nice one. Can't say it's 9.5% abv

July 28th, 2015 - This is a fast and sweet beer, which makes its ABV well disguised and a little dangerous. A bright orange marmalade color shines in the taster glass, and gives off an aroma of light pineapple juice, strawberries and sweet apple juice. The mouthfeel is soft and lets the sweet flavors come through fast and quick. This makes the taste just a little overly sweet, but fine for this late in the taster lineup.

Excellent DIPA! I always enjoyed Beer Republic’s IPA’s so had to try one of their doubles. I was not disappointed!!!The current year appears to be 9.2% abv.

It’s a fairly smooth taste. Surprised this is a 9.75ABV. Alcohol taste is sneaky. Good drink!

Bottled, presumably bottle conditioned due to the real ale reference on the label & I'm pretty much sure it's quite a fresh bottle
Pours a very slightly hazy golden body with good white head
baking soda and candy grapefruit, surplus people!
starting menthol, full on travelling eye, intense bitterness

Hazy, dark orange/medium amber in color. Aroma starts with bright and zesty grapefruit peel. High alcohol, grapefruit, high bitterness, and not enough malt bass leave this a bit uneven. I like the bitterness but the mouthfeel just let's me down, and starts to become s bit abrasive .

Bear Republic's Racer 5 is one of my go-to bottled IPAs, being easy to find and full of character. My cousin brought a bottle of Cafe Racer 15 over last weekend and I was excited to try it. I was not disappointed! I'm new to the art of reviewing beers, so I'll just say for now that I am going to seek this one out in the future! I could easily have enjoyed another bottle that same afternoon.

A cloudy orange color that has a fair head. Hops are strong and there's a slight citrus fruit aroma that is very inviting. The fruitiness is very nice combined with the hops. It has a citrus sweetness like orange juice instead of grapefruit. It's delicious. I love how the hops hang around on the tongue that cries out for more. These will go down with ease like the rest of my body if I don't quit after 2 or 3. An absolute joy to drink. So very fine this one gets a 5 overall because it's an absolute pleasure.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, malts. Taste is citrus, pine, some malts, a bit of alcohol, fairly bitter. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, but I was expecting much more.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings around the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, honey, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, honey, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, pepper, pine, honey, caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 9.75% after the finish. Overall this is an awesome DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; Very smooth and dangerously easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. Very juicy and fairly dank balanced hop complexity, with a nice dark/bready malt backbone. Not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. A really enjoyable offering as expected.

Clear dark orange with a soupy off-white head. Decent lacing. Pineapple and honey-graham malts in the nose. They continue to the taste, coupled by a solid smack of alcohol and a bitter, piney, earthy aftertaste. Medium bodied with an oily feel. Not my favorite in the series, but still plenty good.

Poured from a 22 oz. Bomber
Just about a medium amber
Nice foamy white head
Okay retention and good lacing
Citrus and pine notes
Nice malt backbone with forward pine taste
Hides the high ABV really well!
Medium mouthfeel, chewy
Great beer and I was glad to try it.

Bottle poured into a Bear Republic Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours deep golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces well.

S: Big time fruity, some citrus, herbal piney notes, bready malt, and caramel/honey sweetness.

T: This one is throwing my tongue for a loop. Little bit of everything in there. Almost citrus blossom like, big time floral but also lemon, lime, orange, and a hint of grapefruit, some herbal resinous pine, fruity notes, melon, pear, and maybe passion fruit, a touch of spice, bready malt, and caramel/honey sweetness.

M: Full body, moderate carbonation.

O: Old school double IPA, but I can't say I'm a big fan.

Beautiful beer. Pours deep gold. Little head and lacing. Orange marmalade citrus subtle sweet boozy. Much follows in flavor but extremely clean and slightly cloying. Overall excellent example of a double/triple IPA. Very drinkable.

Draft at Lakeside. Orange golden body, small foamy head. Bready, malty aroma. Taste brings sharp, spicy hops, kind if fruity too. I was put off by the cafe in the name, no coffee at all. Hoppy DIPA.

One of the absolute best double IPAs in my opinion- probably the one I’d reach for first. The mouthfeel is 5 all the way- very thick and creamy. Exceptional!

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a hazy deep (almost brownish) amber with a coarse off-white head. Initial impression is a very juicy explosion of fruity flavors: grapefruit, melon, orange, lemon, peach, apricot, pine, and floral notes. Mouthfeel is nice and sticky. Carbonation is perfect. Finish is sticky, fruity, and sweet. Quite, quite good.
