My buddy and I jumped in the car from South Minneapolis and hit up Casanova's and two other places in the Twin Cities metro. I'm glad we decided to head into Wisconsin, because this was one of the best bottle shops I've ever visited.

The building is very cool, clearly repurposed, and presents itself as a historic monument. The interior is cramped and packed full of beer, liquor, and wine. We were greeted very nicely by a Sam Adams rep, whose offer to sample we politely declined. I asked one of the employees if they had any New Glarus Apple Ale in stock, some months out of season, and he went to check for me. A few minutes later he returned and said that they were out, but he still had some left for growler fills. Great! Along with a bottle of Serendipity, Raspberry Tart, and a four pack of Double Trouble, it was a successful trip.

The selection was phenomenal. 3F, FFF, Hoppin' Frog, The Bruery, New Glarus and Central Waters of course. What was most impressive, however, was there growler station, which featured two brews from Toppling Goliath, Alpha King, and a selection of New Glarus.

Things were a bit pricey though. The Double Trouble was $12, and the Drie Fonteinen was close to $30 for the Oude Gueuze. But it really didn't matter, because all of the employees were eager to talk to us about beers they recently enjoyed, making recommendations and discussing our selections with us.

I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in Hudson, or when it's Sunday and I'm in the cities.

Casanova has likely the best selection and the friendliest service in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Stopping next door at the Nova for a few pours or a growler fill is highly recommended - there are frequently taps of random, highly sought after beers, like Odd Side's Rye Hipster Brunch Stout, or 3 Floyd's Blot Out the Sun.

The liquor store itself has a very cool selection of bottles from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and much further afield - Denmark, Belgium, England, New Zealand, and the list goes on. Every now and then, there are some pretty fantastic gems - a recent Boon box set flew off the shelves before I could get it, but they had it when Minnesota did not.

Casanova also is known for hosting some fantastic festivals - the rotating annual sour and dark beer cave fests bring out some incredible bottles from the Casanova cellar. There's music, food, and a reasonable-sized crowd of folks who generally know each other, and beer, pretty well. It's a very friendly, fun environment.

I frequently drive past ten or more other liquor stores just to go to Casanova. I can't recommend it enough.

This hole-in-the-wall liquor store has an incredible collection of craft beer, including many that I can't get in South Dakota. I spent almost $200 and I had to really restrain myself, knowing I was visiting another store later, and knowing I had to leave room for the girls' purchases at the outlet mall. I could have easily spent twice what I did, and I found beers I did not expect to find, even there. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of single beers, bombers, packs, kegs, and growler fills. They also looked to have a decent wine and liquor selection. I can't believe how many times I drove by here on the interstate over the last 50+years, growing up 30 miles away, and was unaware of it. If you are visiting Wisconsin or Minnesota, this is a must-stop, though I expect their beer selection may not exceed what is found in New York, Chicago, LA, etc - but still worth a visit.

Definitely a hidden gem. Looks like just an old building off the side of the highway. Selection was pretty good in my opinion and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall I really liked this place and will be coming back to get more WI goodies.

I make the trek from Minnesota about once a month. They have a great selection all around for beer as well as bourbon. The employees have always been very helpful

My new go-to stop for a TON of great beers I can't get in Minnesota. Staff couldn't have been easier to talk to. Very cool place.

They have an awesome selection of craft beer - especially if you live in Minnesota. They also offer 20 growlers on tap. Their selection of imports is also big.

Choices from about 15-20 different growlers fills. They offer a few beer events during the year. Staff was on point steered my to a bunch of bourbon barrel aged beers. Love the huge singles wall.

Great people. They sell growlers of different breweries and that's a big plus. Beer selection needs to grow!
