From bottle to glass. The bottle is dated Oct 2015, about 3 months old.

The beer pours with a thin tan head and has a clean looking transparent brownish amber color. For a darker beer, it has excellent clarity.

The smell is a toffee or caramel like sweetness. The flavor is nice and malty with some mild caramel flavored sweetness. It is very smooth and has minimal bitterness or roasted flavors.

Overall, it is similar to a Brown or Amber Ale, but has that lighter mouth feel and overall cleaner flavor of a lager. Well done.

Atwater Winterbock.

Atwater. A true love hate relationship here. Had some very solid ones, had some near drain pours outta these guys. Part four of my random new beer mix a six for a penny less than ten bucks. As usual with Atwater, I have no fucking idea what to expect outta thie brew. Could be solid, could be a drain pour. Guess we'll find out now.

Look - From a twelve ounce bottle slow poured at first until I got lazy and decided it was time for a hard pour. Pours a moderate garnet rubyish color with a head that eventually mounts to roughly two fingers, and then eventually dies down to a thick cap amongst the glass leaving some noticable tree line like stick amongst the very top of my pint glass. Carbonation does not appear to exist aside fron a small bubble here and there coming from the depths. Leaves some solid lacing once the beer is gone.

Smell - Okay let me be the first to say that for less than 8% they didn't do a great job on hiding the alcohol as I felt that shit creep up my nostrils. Other than that, you receive a large hit of the typical caramel malts that the style is fairly well known for. As it warmed a bit, that alcohol on the nose is just massive and it really masks any other scent that could potentially come through.

Taste - Let me be very frank in this aspect as I usually am. I have seen other reviewers mention ' wet cardboard ' but I have not actually come across such a flavor until this beer. The majority of the taste profile genuinely consists of wet carboard with small amounts of holiday spice and fresh apple that struggle to get through as though stuck behind a fat republican in a motorized scooter in the snack aisle at a Wal-Mart. No alcohol comes through here thankfully

Feel - The body on this beer is between a medium thickness and a heavy level of thebole thin. Carbonation comes through as moderate. Once again the carboard aspect is huge in this beer and the alcohol somehow once again shows as it sits despite the lower level of things.

Overall - Yeah this one needs some work. Lots of freshly produced carboard if that's your thing. Not really ' bad ' per se but surely not something you may want to drink. If you can't hide the alcohol at 7.5.%, you shouldnt make higher than average ABV wise brews..

On draft, served in goblet

Clear dark copper amber color, thin head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste isn't as sweet as smell, decent balance. Medium bodied.

Appearance - 4/5
Deep red orange, with a small amount of head. Quite clear. I see almost no carbonation rising up the beer.

Smell - 4/5
Sweet malts with flavors of dark fruit and caramelized sugar, with a hint of roastiness. Maybe a tiny bit of alcohol.

Taste - 4/5
Tastes basically how it smells. Sweet malts with some fruity/caramelized sugar flavors. Some earthy hops as well, with a little alcohol presence. I am quite happy with the taste.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Medium body, smooth. Medium amount of medium-high intensity carbonation. Crisp.

Overall - 4/5
This was a solid beer. One of the few Atwater brews I genuinely like.

A- beautiful rust/copper that is nearly transparent. Thin head with decent lacing.

S- peppery, molasses, light alcohol notes. Some Belgian scent with a tartness in the back.

T- sweet, Brown sugar, pepper, alcohol (just the right amount) and only slightly bitter.

M- medium/light body with medium/high carbonation. Very pleasant drinking experience.

O- an exceptional Bock with lots to offer the refined pallette.
