On tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Greensboro.I looked around for this beer and there isnt much information about it,kinda surprised to see it on tap down here.Poured a a mix of amber and burnt orange,a large fluffy white crown atop.Very muted aromas with mainly just a passing whiff of leafy hop and sweet alcohol.Flavors are much like the aromas meaning very light and ho hum, leafy hop and sweetsh caramel malt with a shot of the sweet alcohol. To me its nothing like a DIPA,not big hops, not much complexity, just sweetness.Eh another Atwater beer to not have again.

Bottled notched Nov. 2011

A - Pours a clear burnt orange with one finger of off-white head. Head has decent retention and leaves some nice lacing.

S - Very fruity hops, with citrus, mostly orange, being most prominent. Also some caramel malt and grassy hops.

T - Nice hop bitterness up front, again with a big citrus component, but caramel and bread malts come in pretty quickly. Finishes with more bitterness. Definitely one of the better tasting beers I've had from Atwater.

M - Medium mouthfeel, slightly sticky. Finises semi-dry with some nice bitterness.

O - Certainly not in the upper echelon, but this was a pretty enjoyable DIPA, and one of the better Atwater brews I've had.

L: A copper amber pour with a slight haze produces a 3” white to cream colored persistent, lacy foam cap. It takes 4 minutes to reduce to ¼ its original size.

S: Spicy, light biscuit, topical fruit, wood and green aromas rise from the glass. Hop aromas medium to medium high, clean fermentation character, malt aromas medium.

T: Big tropical fruit flavors featuring pineapple and citrus on a light malt backbone. Just above medium bitterness balances medium high hop flavors and medium to medium low malt. Lingering interplay of fruit and bitterness.

F: Lush and creamy texture with a medium body and carbonation.

O: Very well balanced and put together with rich, satisfying flavors.

This is an ok IPA....it leans more towards and English style than West Coast style....so all you pine and citrus hop heads should be mindful. The beer pours a clear copper with thin white head that is not leaving a lace. The scent is subtle maybe some hints of bitterness. The taste is very bitter but balanced nicely with sweeter malt. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with subtle carbonation. Overall its ok....glad to have tied it.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a murky amber color with a small off-white head. The aroma is mostly malt. The taste is more malt than hops and has a slight bitter aftertaste. A really good brew from Atwater.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of hops, some citrus. Taste is well balanced. Some hops, citrus, malts kicking in at the finish, not overly bitter, alcohol is well hidden. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

- double ipa. bot. june 13. consumed sept. 13.

A: Princeton orange pour with a decent clarity. Creamy-milky topping has an oatmeal tint with a fair stay of retention. Fine, moderate rise of carbonation with a broken, speckled, and spacious setting of lace on the vessel.

S: Faint flowery, citrus, no real sense of hoppiness, some bread, but no real toastiness. Disappointing for a pale, let alone a reputed ipa.

T: The flavor was a bit rough citrus, raw, flowery, mildewy, old, against some toasted bread, pine and some thick hop oils.

M: Syrupy, spicy dried honey floral notes. Lightly syrupy body, light crispness, spicy dried honey citrus flower leave.

O: Decent level of hoppiness does not always make for a good ipa. syrupy, not particularly bright hop wise, nor tasty flavor wise. meh. A C+ at best beer.
