It was the label I was interested in. Crazy steampunk Willy Wonka with a dash of Twin Peaks Dr. Jacoby thrown in for good measure. I should have read a little more closely. Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale doesn't sound like a bad idea, though ... But that's all it is. Dark chocolate. You open the bottle and you smell chocolate. Pour and you smell chocolate. Smell with focus and you smell chocolate. Drink, and you taste chocolate and a little alcohol. But that's all you get out of this. It's an Ale, so it's way too thin to support all that chocolate. It's not quite as bad as that time you found the bar of baker's chocolate next to the flour in the pantry and chawed down on it without thinking it through, but it's close. That much chocolate needs a lot more body behind it, some creaminess to tone it down to the point of drinkability. Didn't end up in a sink pour, but it wasn't as good an experience as I had hoped.

Smells of hershey's dark chocolate and it taste just the same as Hershey's special dark chocolate candy bar. Light black in color and no lacing. Perfect chocolate ale too bad this wasnt alcoholic chocolate syrup for ice cream

Picked up a 12 pack mix from dry tavern for $13. Any beat the price! Nice color, but everything else is under whelming about this. I don't really get much of anything to note here.

Pours very dark brown, almost black. Very little head, no lacing.
Smells like a chocolate porter/stout, with a slight hint of nuts and maltiness. Taste is primarily chocolate. I'm not getting much of the nut vibe, but a strong malt bridge. MF is fairly thin, but not watery. Lightly carbonated and rather smooth.

I was totally caught off-guard with Decadent. I wanted to try a new dark beer, and at 5% ABV (per the label on my bottle), it puts out a very good flavor profile.

From a 12 oz bottle and enjoyed in a snifter via a friend from work---Thanks Randy
This ale pours a dark ruby tinged dark brown with a nice head of off white foam that
subsides to a thick big bubbled ring and thin layer with moderate lacing. Nose of chocolate
syrup and dark roasted malts. Flavors follow the nose with light exception of chocolate
syrup and mild vanilla with a medium dark roasted malt with subtle malt bitterness
on the rear. Decent mouth feel; medium light body, medium high carbonation that is
definitely lively, and a lightly sweet chocolate finish that is a touch thin.

Overall, a good malt driven brown ale.

Cheers

Dark chestnut brown with a tan head on the pour, aromas are chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. Taste is obviously chocolate, which is very nice, but it's a bit thin, which is exacerbated by the mouthfeel, which is very "spritzy," and doesn't fit with the style. A little more body and this would be world-class, IMHO.

Atwater Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale, 5% ABV, 11 IBU. Pours black with a thin off-white head. Nose is piles of dark chocolate cocoa. Taste follows with very little bitterness, but not a lot of sweetness either. Decent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Never though I'd find a beer that smelled more chocolaty than Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, but this does - and it brings the promised taste that the Sam Smith doesn't. Wow.

Pours dark brown. Short, foamy, light brown head that fades fast.

Smells cocoa, chocolate, malt, roast hints and vanilla

Tastes cocoa, chocolate, light roast malt. Followed by light vanilla, nutty and light chocolate finish dry with chocolate linger. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation

The appearance was a nice looking black color with a thin layer of white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds and left no lacing. The smell was awesome as it really lived up to its name, luscious milk chocolate woven between some vanilla and escaping through slight roasty coffee tones. Big wow! The taste seemed more tame and didn’t have as much vanilla and roast. I have to admit that there was something developing that seemed slightly acidic in the flavor. Still, a little bit of milk chocolate leads the charge into the aftertaste. There was no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. The carbonation was pretty tame but that probably had to do with its age. Overall, I like the concept of this beer but honestly don't see myself coming back to this.

Wow spot on by it's name. This beer pours a dark motor oil color with a small off white head. The smell is cocopuffs right out of the bottle and the flavor does not disappoint. A nice smooth chocolate flavor with an easy swallow only 11 IBU'S. Would definitely recommend.
