Another one my stops in Syracuse, I planned on going to a bunch of stores in the area but after I visited this store I really didn't have a reason to go anywhere else. I went to another Wegmans location earlier in the day, and I was pretty impressed with their beer selection - but this store blew me away. The beer section is HUGE.. almost mind boggling huge. I can't even believe that there is this much of a market for craft beer in this area. I don't understand how they can stock this many varieties all while making sure it's fresh and that stock rotates. Anyways, it looked like they had over 1000 varieties of beer and the best part of all is that they have a 'mix 6' section. So you can grab singles and build your own mix packs. I didn't see any beer that was out of date and none of the bottles were really dusty. If you happen to be in the area, check this store out for sure.

This Wegmans is the closest (or equidistant) to all four of the 4-year universities in Syracuse, and the beer selection reflects this.

It's about what you would expect from a high-end grocery store, it's well lit, clean, and amply stocked, with a large walk-in full of (for the most part) ice-cold corn soda. A number of the more popular NY beers (Ithaca, Middle Ages, Dundee/Genesee) are available both room temp or chilled, which is nice. They also have an assortment of glassware for sale on the fringes of the beer section.

They have a fairly eclectic selection, and it's quite a bit larger than the other Wegmans in the area- lots of regional beers and a much larger than usual selection of West Coast/California crafts and upscale canned beer, which is comparatively rare in Syracuse. They also stock a reasonable number of imports, though these don't rotate often. You won't ever see anything mind-boggling here though; it's still a corporation-owned megastore, if a nice one, and they just don't get in much the small batch stuff or limited releases. There is a large "make your own" six pack section, which is pretty reasonably priced, but they tend to put their more expensive beers that aren't moving fast enough and are near their best-by dates here, so I tend to avoid it.

This particular location does host beer tasting once in a while, and at peak shopping hours there will often be a reasonably knowledgeable person giving samples of some seasonal offering, though usually you won't see more than the odd stock person.

There is a sit-down or takeout cafe/eatery on the other end of the store during normal shopping hours, though I'm not sure if you're actually allowed to consume alcohol on the premises. They've got a pretty extensive Indian/Chinese/Mediterranean/homestyle buffet selection, pizza and wings, sandwiches/paninis, etc. at reasonable prices. It is one of the few places in the Syracuse area you can pick up some decent takeout and grab a craft six pack or bomber at the same location if you're looking for a night in.

Overall, for a supermarket it's great, but as I said nothing they stock is going to knock your socks off and the prices are middle-of-the-road. It's probably your best bet if you're in the neighborhood and want to pick up food or shop for groceries, though, and it's the only good beer store option in the Fayetteville/Manlius area that I know of.

Better than average Wegmens selection, although he specialties and single bottles have been better in different states. Snagged a SN Estate, but they would not let me buy a couple bottles from the designated single bottles unless I took a mixed six pack. No service of course. Roughly as good as Amherst, NY. More six packs though, and they had a full Great Lakes selection. Good for the regular stuff at decent prices. Since they are expanding, more and more spaces in nearby row were stacked with some bottles,so look around. People were buying from here.

One of the best beer selections in a grocery store. Probably the best selection in all of the Wegmans' in the Syracuse area. They also have a 'craft your own 6-pack', which also has a lot of beers to choose from. There is a generous mix of inexpensive and expensive beers you can find in the 'craft your own' aisle. I think it is the biggest selling point of this particular Wegmans, quality and quantity. They also stock up a lot of 22 0z bombers.
In my opinion Wegmans is borderline between pricey and reasonable. If you are passing through this area, you should try your best to visit this place.

Wegmans in Fayetteville / DeWitt or wherever it is, has a good selection of beer. I didn't mark a score for food here, because there's no food. There's also basically no service. I suppose someone working at the store could tell you where the beer section is, but that's really the extent of it, so I'll mark it as average (for a grocery store).

Anyway, if you care about the atmosphere in a beer store, then I'd call this average. It's a grocery store. Wide-open aisles and ceiling, fluorescent lights, shelves of beer with a decent cooler. Although, the walk-in cooler is always fun, if relatively insignificant, so I suppose it's just above average for that reason.

The quality gets a 3.5 here, because there's nothing on tap (in which case the quality question would be a legitimate inquiry), but there is definitely out of date beer on the shelves there. Not a big deal, since it's a large grocery store and just HAVING a large beer section is more than you can expect from most places. But, out of date beer is always a no-no, of course.

Wegmans' selection at the Fayetteville location is pretty good. It's not excellent, and there's nothing rare or very hard to find here, but it's replete across the board, in terms of different areas of beer: domestics, separate UK, Belgian, German and Mexican / tropical sections, plenty of American craft including local and regional offerings like Middle Ages and Smuttynose, and a relatively large mix-a-six section for a flat $9.99 that sometimes has some way-over-$10-value singles thrown in there by the staff (and not just customers failing the honor system).

And of course, perhaps most importantly, is value. It's reasonable. They don't have sales to speak of there, certainly not on anything "craft-y," but it's far from pricey. They've got the going price on basically everything there, even if there are no steals to be had (barring the occasional underpriced large bottle), and the mix-a-six is decent.

If you're looking for craft beer in the bottle in the Syracuse area, Wegmans in Fayetteville will probably satisfy your needs, unless you are looking for growler fills or anything particularly difficult to find. Good beer source.

This was my only stop on my first US beer haul, and it was more than satisfactory. A fantastic selection of NY craft and lots of breweries from all over the country and abroad. Big walk in cooler and mixed six section which is a nice touch. I spent a long time going up and down the aisles contemplating what to bring back to Canada, and how much over my duty free limit I was going to be.
Didn't get or really want a hand from any employees, there were a few stock boys that walked by but that's it.
Will definitely be back next time I'm in Syracuse.

During the aborted attempt at grad school, this was my source of nectar. Yes, its a bit pricey (not surprising since Wegmans tends to cater to a more upscale crowd, and you are kinda on your own, but the selection is really great. You can find pretty much every beer produced in New York state (Ellicotville, Saranac, Middle Ages, Southern Tier, Thousand Islands, Ithaca, Brooklyn, Genesee all well represented) and beyond (most beers in the northeast, though NJ is not represented). Recently, they expanded their beer selection to the shelves in front of the cooler and there lies sundry international brews.

Having grown up in the Fayettleville-Manlius region, I am so glad to see the beloved Wegmans expand its beer selection so that it is practically a store within a store. As many if not more options than a liquor store with a quality craft beer section. Always loved the "back room" refrigerator, too. Some people may complain that it is taking over but I am glad to find such a fine variety of beer while being able to grab my weeks worth of groceries. I think what also earns this high remarks is the fact that the store has such a great cheese and meat selection as well that you could get all creative in food and beer pairing.

This Wegmans expanded their beer selection in the last couple of months and now claim to have over 700 kinds of beer. You won't really find any rarities here, but you'll find a very good selection of micros and even imports. Pretty solid Belgian, English and German selection, and lots of US micros, particularly the local and NY offerings. A bigger overall selection than you'll find at Party Source, I'd say, and the prices are better. You can't break up 6 packs like at Party Source, and Party Source probably has a few more hard to find items, but I also wouldn't doubt the freshness at Wegmans while on occasion I will at Party Source. There is a good amount in the coolers, as well, so good, cold beer can be had.

Don't expect to find anything in the way of service - it's pretty much self serve, unless you happen to find someone who is maybe stocking the shelves and can answer a question for you. But the selection is solid and the prices are good, so all in all it's a good place to buy some brews.
