Pours a funny looking body a bit orange, a bit yellow, a bit like a barley sugar with a big white foamy head that shrinks quickly to a 3/4 surface cloud.
Nice full on hoppy aroma big floral notes and dockers arm pits.
Real tangy taste real citrus hits in there, quite tart, a bit sherbet like but not really sweet finishing on a slightly downplayed hop aftertaste but still a mighty fine tongue road trip.
Mouthfeel I must admit does seem a bit thin for a cruiser weight beer but solid carbonation.
A decent enough tangy treat.

Bottle from Tesco. Decent. Light enough ale, drinkable but no big bang flavour wise. I'd like to try on draft.

Magnificent on draught - good in bottles but not really special. The Draught has a wonderfully soft, slightly creamy feel to my tastebuds. One of Britain's very best.

Cask at King's Head and the Lion & Pheasant in Shrewsbury. Dark gold. Lasting creamy off white head. Aroma baked apples , hints of honey and bread. Taste sweet apples and bread and hints of apricot. Almost seems like it will be too sweet but a nice, light but zesty bitterness just balances it out. Full bodied and flavorful. Excellent.

500ml bottle from Asda (£1.70):
Clear, light amber with a thumb-sized, foamy head that's a creamy white colour with some bubbles on the surface. Pale malts, faint biscuit & butterscotch notes then some earthy hops open the nose, there's a little grain too but it's pleasant enough. Biscuit & pale malts again dominate with the taste, its quite one dimensional but drinkable with a smooth, medium body & very soft carbonation. It seems a little bland at the end but it's well balanced with some bread malts to close; not bad for the style I guess.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Pale amber, clear, with a 3mm white foam cap
S- Grainy and a touch rich
T- Trad. Very nice and entirely trad ale.
F- Polished, smooth, no rough edges or out of balance.
O- It's very nice. I'd like to try this one again just a little more chilled. Goes down very well.
Review #1916/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed!

Great on draught, highly quaffible.
Bottled it's not as rich, however don't overlook this fine ale. You will not be disappointed.

Pint on cask. Pours light gold with thin creamy head that leaves just a touch of lace. Nose is mild floral hops and AAL grains. Flavor starts light and fruity but then fades to euro-lager-like flavor. Mouthfeel is creamy cask. Overall, not a great beer, but quaffable.

Bright gold with white film. 3.5
Crackery pale malts with some flowers. 3.5
Clean graininess, low esters, a bit of grass and flowers with a shadow of berries. 3.5
Slight butterscotch comeback and dry finish.
Crisp, light, a bit thin. 3.75
Starts out lagery and never opens. No fruity English ale character and the Bramling Cross is there, but far too quietly. Maybe this does better on cask - I hear it's a cult beer near the brewery - but there's nothing going on here.
"Embarassed to come out and say anything." 3.75

I first enjoyed this beer on draft at the White Hart pub in Newnham-on-Severn, Gloucestershire, England. I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I see no one else thus far rates it as highly as I do, but Butty Bach is the best beer I have ever tasted in my life. It has a nice, malty aroma, a rich mouth feel without sticking around too long, and a wonderful, rich, malty flavor. Butty Bach is hopped just right, in my opinion, i.e., not over hopped, as so many beers these days are in the apparent misguided belief that bitterness units = quality.
I give Butty Bach my highest rating. If I was going to be lost on a desert island or stranded in the frozen Yukon and could only take one beer with me, this would be it.
