Thanks to Francois for sharing this bottle.
A - Poured into a standard tulip a nice ruby red hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin halo.
S - Aromas of nice Belgian esters and sugars. Sweet and fruity.
T - Taste is similar to the nose. Nice Belgian sugars and light dark fruits.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, pleasant.
O - Overall this was a rather solid Belgian. Really enjoyable.

From Belgium in a Box. In Teku glass. Shared with Carlos. Superb. Very drinkable. The greatness of the base beer is still present under a soft, well placed whisky touch

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of residual sugar, dry fruits, whiskey notes with some caramelized malt is just about perfect. Taste is also a great mix of dry fruits with some residual sugar notes and some caramelized malt and light warming alcohol notes. Body is full with great carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Rich with some smooth barrel-aged notes and some great complexity while retaining drinkability.

Nose is nice, though not as strong as I would have expected. Caramel, fig, date, vanilla and whisky are all present.
The taste is better. The (sometimes overwhelming) sweetness of the base beer is neutered somewhat by the whisky. Of course, there is still an obvious sweetness to the beer. Brown sugar, caramel, fig and date are notable, along with whisky and vanilla. The whisky is fairly well integrated, but the resulting beer is a bit hot and certainly rougher around the edges that the Blauw ever is.
Full bodied, moderately carbonated, verging on syrupy.
Overall, an interesting take on the Van de Kaizer Blauw, but I think the original is superior.

Released at Systembolaget, Sweden at March 18 - 2016.
Gouden Carolus Indulgence is a limited new series of beers brewed every year with varying content. Whisky Infused is the first taste to be produced under this label.
Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer (year 2015) was enriched by an infusion of Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky from a selection of Anker bespoke wooden casks.
I’m looking forward to review this!
The beer pours clear and dark mahogny-colored with a two to three finger high, beige head that clings to the glas and leaves a lot of lacing.
Nose: Vanilla, bourbon, whiskey, caramel malt, brown sugar, toffee, honey, dried fruit, banana, whipped cream and raisin.
Taste: Caramel, bourbon, brown sugar, vanilla, spices, chocolate, prunes, raisin and ripe apples.
Mouthfeel: Soft, smooth, sweet, complex. A light, smooth carbonation. Despite the high sweetness i feel it’s easy to drink! After the sweetness I get a lot of bourbon and oak. A great sipper!
Wow! This is something really good!

75cl bottle. Dark ruby-brown pour with a coarse-grained tan head. Smells of caramel, whiskey, bourbon, toffee and spices. Sweet, with notes of burnt caramel, toffee, bourbon. As the drink gets warmer, it gets more complex, with notes of prunes, raisins and figs.It would do well with a fuller body or a bit of roastiness, but other than that this is a solid Belgian dark ale.

750ml corked and caged bottle served in a Hill Farmstead taster. Pours a mahogany hue with a loose, 1/8th inch, tan colored head that quickly dissipates into a froth. Nose expresses candi sugar, dark malts and ethanol. Whiskey is really forward in the flavor profile and comes off as quite young, with the elements from the nose trailing. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a gassy carbonation. Overall, the carbonation is just way too assertive for this beer. I love the base beer, but this one has too many rough edges. Perhaps a couple years in the cellar might improve things.
