a: dark garnet color, topped with a layer of off-white head that retains a nice ring

s: loads of sugary dark fruits - mostly pureed prune and sweet/spicy currant, big yeasty phenol aroma, lots of sweet-spicy interplay, appropriate levels of booze, strong and malty with a subtle aged hop aroma, really like this

m: medium-full body, a little slick, medium carbonation, lacking only in smoothness

t: malty and rich with prune and currant flavors, yeasty clove, sweet alcohol, moderate bitterness in the finish with some tart fruit skins

d: really nice quad with an authentic Belgian character, a sipper by nature

snifter serving at the brewpub

I had this on tap at the Philly brewhouse back in April. Bartender there described this as a Belgian-style Quadruple, and the name translates to "Night of Madness".

Bartender brought it in a tulip glass, no appreciable head on it. Had a nice deep brown red colour, cloudy and dark.

Initially the aroma was simply plums, but as it warmed it opened up to a wonderful bouquet of plums, raisins, vanilla, malt, and hints of clove from the yeast.

Moderate to heavy bodied, slightly thick and low carbonation. Beer was very smooth, even when warmed up. Not too hot surprisingly, although it certainly warmed me up by the end of the glass. Plums, cherries, and raisins prevalent in the beer, lingering and coating the tongue. Fig and malt are decent, finish is a bit sweet with hops in the background.

I was very pleasantly taken with this beer, since I knew nothing of Triumph when we walked in the door. I don't have much more information on its availability or how long they have been brewing it, sorry.
