Bottle from a store outside Mont Tremblant a while ago.
A - Cloudy pour with a light copper or orange body. Strong carbonation with a three finger, very losse white head. Initial head looked like it would fade fast but it settled into a nice full finger retention. No lacing.
S - Strong citrus, yeast, light grains, light spice. Sort of a bubblegum element with citrus soap? Strong orange.
T - Light grain. Citrusy orange. A little yeast and sweet spice but that orange is really strong. It's almost like shock top which I just tried and tastes alot like orange soda. It opens up towards the end of the bottle with more spice, yeast, and grain, but still has that orange cola character. The progress it makes, makes up for a part of the earlier flaws.
M - Strong carbonation and a medium creamy body. Lingering sweet finish which isn't exactly pleasant.
O/D - Drinks like a wheat beer. The more I drank it became more like an orange soda. I couldn't see myself drinking too much of this. Overly sweet and not exactly beer-like, until it opens up to more spice. Still not great.

341 mL bottle taken out of a sample 6-pack "Maitre Brasseur". Poured into a flute glass. Drank right after a Cheval Blanc Double Blanche high hop beer.
Look: Thinish, golden orange, virtually no head. Cloudy with little things floating throughout (wheat or spices?)
Smell: Sweet, a bit fruity. Perhaps malty.
Taste: As it hits the tongue, some spices become apparent, maybe some cinnamon, but definitely coriander. Some banana comes through after the initial spices and lingers. More on the sweet side.
Feel: More on the light side, low to mid carbonation, lager-like body but maybe a bit more. Leaves a slight coating in the mouth.
Overall: Something a little different than what I'm used to. Reminds me a bit of "La Fin du Monde", but could just be the coriander as the dominant spice. Not bad in any way. Spicy with hints of fruit. A bit on the lighter side, kind of like a juice beer in my opinion. Something I might buy again. Great for when you don't want a beer that's too forward, but does have a little something to it. After a hop-forward beer like cheval blanc, this is like juice.

Coup De Grisou literally translates as "gas blast" but, fortunately, prying off the cap didn't result in any lost digits or, for that matter, anything more dramatic than a muted 'hiss'. In fact, there's virtually no pressure in this beer; both bubbles and foam fall out almost immediately. The liquid has a summer sunset sort of hazy, suffocating golden complexion.
The aroma, on the other hand, is a little more explosive. That's maybe a generous term and certainly exaggerates the savory/spicy contribution of the coriander and the subtly sweet candied orange rind flavour. Nonetheless, I really like it. There's even an underlying hibiscus-like floral note that adds a potpourri-like element to it.
But something's a little off on the palate. I can't say for certain but, hazarding a guess, logically assume it's the use of buckwheat responsible for that slightly different taste. It's not as sweet or cereal-like as a conventional barley- or wheat-based beer. It lacks the typical maltiness and tastes far more like a seed than grain...
And that makes perfect sense given the buckwheat likely was not malted and technically is a seed, not a cereal grain. I've used green buckwheat groats in my homemade granola and switched to kasha (nuttier, toasted groats) to avoid that grassy, goat-y, hemp-like flavor that is presently becoming more and more noticeable with warmth.
And yet I don't mind it here. That earthiness is a really nice pairing with the more zestful coriander and fruity, farmhouse-y qualities of the yeast. Compared to (relatively few) experiences with spelt, amaranth and sorghum (to say nothing of rice or corn!) buckwheat may be my alternative grain of choice. Coup De Grisou is really interesting and unexpectedly good.

Another super nice beer. The color is a powerfull and attractive nice orange. The smell is like other White Belgian I had. I love that smell. This buckwheat beer, will become easily one of the beer I buy often.... if I can find it.... near my hometown.
The taste is very nice and distinctive. These beer are among my favorite one.
The 341 ml bottle with a ABV of 5.0% came from a 12 pack Degustation box, from the brewer RJ of Montréal.
