Enjoyed on tap at Restaurant Le Fripon in Montreal, Quebec.

Amber in color, strong and full-bodied with a pleasant mouthfeel. I was worried that the rather malty aroma would translate into the flavor, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not too sweet. Quite drinkable.

Amber style beer with a good head. Lack of spice or aftertaste. A bit too bland for my liking... This is an everyday beer but in no way is it a session beer. It seems like the Belle-Gueule have lost some ground in the past few year or maybe it is my beer taste that have evolved.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance - pours a clear copper with a fair size foamy off-white head. There is lots of carbonation and there is a medium amount of lacing left on the glass. Doesn't really look all that 'red' for a red beer.

Smell - has a dry smell, slight hops and bread notes

Taste & Mouth - Low to average amount of carbonation in the mouth. Starts off somewhat dry and then finishes with a brown sugar like sweetness. It actually has a nice balance of taste.. perhaps a little too watery though.

Drink - probably my favorite of the Belle Guelle family. But even with that being said, there are much better beers out there.

Had this beer on tap on my trip to Canada. It pours a dark red color with minimal head and a decent amount of lacing. Aroma was non-descript, slightly nutty and sweet.

The taste was also a bit on the nutty side, with a solid caramel malt presence and just enough hops to give it balance (Canadian micro-breweries don't seem to be as obsessed about hops as their American counterparts). Overall this is a solid lager that wouldn't be bad as a sessioner.

Had this beer at the Mundial de Biere in Montreal. On tap served in a tasting glass of 8oz.

Great clear garnet/brown color with a nice head that stays around and leaves some nice lacing.

The smell is nutty and sweet. Very appetizing.

The taste is nutty and malty sweet. Not heavy but not overly carbonated. A little too sweet though.

Overall, a nice session beer. I could drink quite a few of these during a hockey game.

This brew arrived as a very deep golden hue heading towards amber. The original crown was just short of two fingers which disapated to a thick frothy full island lace with a mountainous glass cling.
Carbonation was explosive downsizing to a light summer's rain heading north.
The taste was a combination of grain, malty flowers and mildly of nuts balanced with a mid hoppiness to counter but not lead.
Body was full and smooth going down....well done.

Dark gold to light amber with a nice full off-white head, good carbonation, and leaves lace rings. Light toasty malt aroma and flavor -- maybe a bit thin but soft enough. Light-medium (leans light) bodied and fairly smooth.

Probabaly a bit light all around for the style but not bad for a Canadian brew....

Per Label: "Lager" & "Munich malt"

One of the most popular beer in Quebec as I see.
Second time that I try a Red Ale. After trying the Boreale my exception is a bit high and the Belle Gueule did pretty well, so well that I give the same mark 3,75.
Same, Nice smell of light caramel. The taste is roasted coffee.
Nice carbonation, and very smooth to drink.
So would I recommend it ? If you find it and its on special, yes why not, give it try. Its not that different from a Blonde beer as it taste. Some extra sweet flavour will come that u will enjoy it.
