Pours ruby-tinted copper with a fading head.
Nose shows toasty, syrupy malt with some bready notes too. Also a fair whack of pine and resinous hops.
Lovely malt flavours too. Quite syrupy, a fair bit of sweetness and bready malt. More pine and grapefruit.
Overcarbonated for this kind of malt presence.

Pours a healthy red, slightly pale looking in parts. Head is foamy, lovely and dense with a gorgeous saffron tinge to it. Lace is gorgeous.

Smells amazing. Huge malty sweetness with loads of caramel, oaty biscuits and batter, complemented (not contrasted) by sweet fruity hops. Slight tang but mostly juicy, desserty with pear and tropical peach esters. Very appealing.

Taste is a mild disappointment. Guess I wanted a bit more hop bitterness but its definitely tasting quite sweet. Sticky caramel toffee notes with an overripe pear and slight kiwi note on the hops. All pleasant flavours, but needs something badly to cut through more at the end.

A bit gluggy and thick on the feel as well. Decent match for the taste but it just adds to the pillowy, smothering vibe.

Can see this being very popular, but it just falls a little short for me in terms of an overall drinking package.

640ml bomber poured into pint glass 31/3/14

A clear reddish amber liquid with plenty of tiny bubbles, a dense thumbs with of tan foam has great retention sticking around as a think film deep down the glass leaving plenty of random lace

S sweet orange, pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit and tangerine, lots of tropical fruit on the nose, pine, toffee and even a faint hint of coco and cereal, enough malt to keep the hops in check but still big hoppy nose

T not as tropical but still plenty of fruit, I get some lemon rind and a little more pine then the nose, well balanced yet hoppy if that makes any sense, tasty stuff

M heavy side of medium, creamy side of foam, fairly bitter but doesn't hinder drinkability, orange peel and dry cereal linger for ages

O it is what it claims, she's a solid hopped up red ale that was way to easy to drink, one sips malty, the next sips hoppy as all hell, malty and hoppy at the same time, I have a feeling plenty of ingredients went into this one

I've had some good luck scoring a couple ultra fresh hop bombs from Mountain Goat while visiting Melbourne, week old Fancy Pants in a can, fresh kegs of Rye IPA and now a 3 week old bottle of this stuff. From what I've had this week I'm under the impression that this brewery might be under-rated, either that or I've gotten lucky and had their best at their best.

Murky auburn. Lots of yeast.

It smells strong and yeasty and metallic-caramel malt.

I'm unsure of the whole IRA style. The clash of pine and caramel-toffee is kind of unsettling and unsuccessful. This is a steadfast example of that style. Bitter upfront, muddled bitter caramel endtaste.

I'm glad I had it. Don't know if I'd recommend it.
