After the rains fell & Spain finally decided to quit toying with Italy on the tube, we left Sunset & headed here.
Been here once before during German Fest & had a blast. The food was delicious, the beers were good, & the pictures came out great. Most of that is pretty much blurred at this point though, so might as well get back out there. :)
One thing I don't remember there being here is a patio. It's new they say, & it becomes are base of operations in between passing showers. Plenty of soft air, wood to hide behind, & plenty of space to stretch & slouch around.
I remember the food being good, but I want to try out the beer menu, since it is a bit different from the last stop. I order up a Blanche de Chambly poured up to the .33l tulip line for a hard $7, but follow up with a pint of Green Flash Hop Head Red for just $5. The tap list was good, but gravitated towards the hoppy side that day, without too much of an alternative; cask was out.The bottle list was a lot of hit or miss, but the menus were laminated & probably in need of an update or maybe a daily print up. Still haven't been able to order Dupont cider in now the fourth bar I've seen it available at. Do love me some good cider. Scrumpy's taste like pure apple juice to me @ $12; dangerous & way too plain.
The appetizer & brunch menus are decently affordable, but rest gets a little costly if you wanted to make this your everyday stop after work. The guys around me opted for the the gumbo @ $16, which looked delicious(& was confirmed), but was such a small serving. I opted for the pepper marinated Korean beef, which was served on a bed of house kimchi & some coconut curry rice risotto at about the same price. Not much actual beef on the plate, probably around 5-6 ounces sliced into about 8 bite-sized pieces. Plenty of veggies on the plate, & boy were they hot(& yummy). The rice helped soak things up & even out the spice. Good stuff. Expensive for what it was, but very good.
Our table watched Max(the owner), give the rest of our group a little class on bourbon, & then a pairing of scotch & beer. While I don't drink the stuff, I appreciated the attention & eagerness shown to us. In addition, many of the cocktails looked pretty damn delicious from their descriptions. Lots of old rum, which I do drink, being half Puerto Rican & all. :)
Wait times were never more then a handful of minutes for a beer, or 15 & change for a meal. They lost one of our orders for fries, but there's barely two cooks in there at times, they're spot on most all the time. Water glasses never stayed empty, & all our questions, teases, taunts, & flirts were received & returned with the same playfulness they originated from.
Nice place. :)

One of the premier places, for a beer aficionado, in the Allston-Brighton complex. They know their beer, foreign and domestic, and the taplist every time I've been has exemplified that. If you're anywhere near here, you must make it a stop.

This is one of the few places I have been to that was ranked among the best on BA in its city and left me shaking my head. The ambiance was nice and the staff was friendly but the tap list was horrible. I ended up settling for a session beer from Mystic only because no interesting options were present. Left after the one point. Very disappointed.

One of the best beer bars I've ever been to.
The tap list is insanely good- they tend to focus on really interesting German lagers, and German-style American lagers, so lots of Aecht Schlenkerla, Mahr's, Weihenstephaner, Kuhlmbacher, etc for the German side, and lots of killer MA area breweries doing traditional styles, including Idle Hands, Notch, Mayflower, Pretty Things, etc. One of the most nicely curated beer lists ever.
The food is awesome, upscale gastropub bar food. Amazing Kimchi hot dog.
At night time, the place does become incredibly dark- it's hard to read the menu. I guess that's the vibe they're going with, which is fine.

Great food, good selection of beers. Usually has a decent mix of local, domestic craft, and euro's. Food is great -- the pickled beet salad is phenomenal. Staff has always been awesome!
