I visited Deep Ellum on a Thursday after work, roughly two weeks after the establishment first opened. The first thing that struck me was that I was the only customer at first. (Granted it was early, 6:30-6:45ish) Anyhow, fairly small place with a nice cozy atmosphere. The bar along the left side had a nice selection of taps. Dogfish Head with a couple of offerings, Avery Brown, EKU Pils, Hop Rod Rye, Liberator. I started with the Ridgeway IPA, which tasted very fresh. Opening the menu revealed a nice list of bottles as well. Not as extensive a list as a place like Sunset, but it seemed like a good amount of thought had gone into picking good examples of various styles. The service was great, even once the place started to fill up. My water glass never made it past half empty, and I had a beer on deck almost the whole time. Only negative was the bottle of St. Peter's that we had, it was bad, but the bartender immediately replaced it and took it off the bill. Food menu is not extensive but looks interesting. The bartender indicated that there would be good rotation in the taps. All in all a nice addition to the neighborhood.

This is one of the few places I have been to that was ranked among the best on BA in its city and left me shaking my head. The ambiance was nice and the staff was friendly but the tap list was horrible. I ended up settling for a session beer from Mystic only because no interesting options were present. Left after the one point. Very disappointed.

One of the best beer bars I've ever been to.

The tap list is insanely good- they tend to focus on really interesting German lagers, and German-style American lagers, so lots of Aecht Schlenkerla, Mahr's, Weihenstephaner, Kuhlmbacher, etc for the German side, and lots of killer MA area breweries doing traditional styles, including Idle Hands, Notch, Mayflower, Pretty Things, etc. One of the most nicely curated beer lists ever.

The food is awesome, upscale gastropub bar food. Amazing Kimchi hot dog.

At night time, the place does become incredibly dark- it's hard to read the menu. I guess that's the vibe they're going with, which is fine.

Great food, good selection of beers. Usually has a decent mix of local, domestic craft, and euro's. Food is great -- the pickled beet salad is phenomenal. Staff has always been awesome!
