My wife and stopped by here on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Located in Allston's Union square. It's a simple rectangular room. Long bar on one side of the room, tables along the long brick wall on the other. Probably holds 50 people comfortably, anything more than that and you're elbow to elbow. The bar is typical New England style with full line of liquors behind it.

Beer section is excellent. 2 dozen taps, 50+ bottles and a cask engine. Selection is exclusively craft, micro, Belgian etc. Essentially the best of the best with no room for bullshit. Everything you'd expect from a bar of this caliber. All beer was served properly in good accompanying glassware.

I didn't really try the food on my first visit. My wife got the pretzel which was tasty, but the menu had a nice mix of pub grub favorites. All reasonably priced with a nice selection to fit all appetites.

I hate comparing this place to Bukowski's, but come on... the owners worked their so long something had to hold over. The music is still too loud, there's some attitude, some prices are insanely high($13 for Stone Ruination????), but overall I really like it. I'm not sure what it is, but I'd rather come here than either Buk's any day of the week. A nice addition to Allston.

This is one of the few places I have been to that was ranked among the best on BA in its city and left me shaking my head. The ambiance was nice and the staff was friendly but the tap list was horrible. I ended up settling for a session beer from Mystic only because no interesting options were present. Left after the one point. Very disappointed.

One of the best beer bars I've ever been to.

The tap list is insanely good- they tend to focus on really interesting German lagers, and German-style American lagers, so lots of Aecht Schlenkerla, Mahr's, Weihenstephaner, Kuhlmbacher, etc for the German side, and lots of killer MA area breweries doing traditional styles, including Idle Hands, Notch, Mayflower, Pretty Things, etc. One of the most nicely curated beer lists ever.

The food is awesome, upscale gastropub bar food. Amazing Kimchi hot dog.

At night time, the place does become incredibly dark- it's hard to read the menu. I guess that's the vibe they're going with, which is fine.

Great food, good selection of beers. Usually has a decent mix of local, domestic craft, and euro's. Food is great -- the pickled beet salad is phenomenal. Staff has always been awesome!
