The beer advocate boys are tough or got a bad batch. Three sheets does not deserve an "F" and would recommend a re-try. My guess is they got some in the US which was spoiled. They need to try it fresh and I believe they would at least give it a "D"....I mean c'mon this is better than Bud Light! Anyway, I thought it was quite tasty. It was a lighter beer, good for the summer months. It wasn't an all-powerful West Coast pale ale, more of a East Coast pale with hints/scents of fruit. Dont be swayed....at this try it.

$11.50 AUD per pint (570ml) on-draught @ the brewery/hotel on a rainy Sydney day.
A: Orange with a nice glow and translucency to it.
T: English biscuit malt, faint marmalade, scintillae of toast, a hint of buttery flavour. Faint tea-like subtle earthiness and fruitiness.
Mf: Smooth, perfectly carbonated, on the light side of medium bodied but still refreshing.
O: A balanced classic expression of an English pale ale. I can't imagine it being much more true to style, but it is a bit shallow flavour wise (which I suppose its enthusiasts would contend renders it "more sessionable"). I don't necessarily need a louder or more intensely flavoured ale, but I've certainly had beers of equal or superior subtlety that had better depth and/or duration of flavour.
Sort of a must-try when at Lord Nelson, and one of the better English pale ales I've had going off memory - but it doesn't dazzle, drinkable as it is.

This is probably my ideal beer - a beautiful amber ale that is innately drinkable. Very fruity and floral that perfectly complements the history of old Sydney and the view of the most beautiful harbour in the world. With one of the most appealing designs in Australia - it's both mouth watering anticipating opening them and a tragic sight to see them littered around some plastic chairs in the back garden.

Straw appearance with a moderate head and carbination. Mild fruity aroma. Mild fruity taste some hops. This may be refreshing on a very warm day but not a beer for flavor enjoyment.

Cloudy amber colour with excellent head. Initial bitter hit followed by smooth roasted malt flavour and finished with a floral note. Medium to heavy body with low carbonation.

I was visiting Sydney, Australia this summer and the concierge recommended I try some local food and beer at Lord Nelson’s. They had pretty low alcohol content across the board, but that’s OK so I tried the Three Sheets which was recommended to me. It has like 5% ABV and I don’t recall the IBUs, but it was a Pale Ale so had no bitterness to speak of.
Look-It poured a light golden yellow with crisp clarity and plenty of carbonation. The head was foamy and moderate.
Smell-It smelled of honey drop malts and floral overtones. I smelled a very pleasant aroma from this beer.
Taste-I first got the honey based malts with a balanced bitterness and a tinge of hops. Strong notes of citrus, tangerine, grapefruit, and orange peel zest characterized the first part of the flavor. Then floral notes sung high over the citrusy hops to the tunes of rose-petal, grassy herb, mint, and clover leaf. Lastly I tasted waves of pleasant herbs and spices such as coriander, raisin, bubblegum, and earthy hops.
Mouthfeel-It had a smooth mouthfeel, nothing special, but pleasant.
Overall-I was very glad to have had the chance to try this beer from down under. Unfortunately it can only be found in Sydney, but if you ever find yourself there then definitely visit Lord Nelson’s on the Rocks and give this one a try. Cheers!

Signature pale ale from Sydney's oldest licensed brewery hotel.
Beers brewed on site, the sand stone pub is always busy with lovers of fine ales.
Look - Appearance - Pours a clear golden liquid with a creamy head which retains well (but it was from a tap).
Smell - Caramel, biscuit, floral, citrusy.
Taste - Malty, fruity, citrusy, not too hoppy like an IPA.
Mouthfeel - Medium carbonation, creamy.
Overall - A fine sessionable pale ale for those who find the IPA a little too hoppy and prefer a pale ale style of beer with fruity and floral tones.

In my trip to OZ one of the better brews. Shame that reviewers slammed this so hard, it's pretty good. Enjoyed at Fish on Rocks - a must seafood restaurant in town.
A -Good looking, hazy body, amber. One finger off white head head, but does not stay around or lace much
S Surprising fruit without being cloying, peach, mango, malt, bright inviting hops.
T follows smell and pairs well with seafood. Scallops in my case. Easy, pleasant with notable fruit on palate, and slight hop bitterness in the end game. Lots yeast as it's unfiltered.
F light and session ready. Could have had another.
Very good session beer.
