The folks at Beau's and Trou Du Diable decided it was high time to act on their mutual respect and admiration for one another and combine their brewing forces under the mantle of one great beer. Fous Alliés is the fourth in the Beau's "Friendship series," collaboration beers created with other brewers we know and love.

Slightly hazy, soft golden orange. Big white head, lots of lace. Handsome beer.

Nose is yeasty, hoppy, fruity, with a whiff of alcohol. Noticeable mango. Just enough though -- doesn't overwhelm. Appetizing.

Spicy and fruity up front, sweet and sheath, bitter and mango fruit to finish. Pretty nice mouthful. Recognizably a saison.

Pretty nice beer, worth a try.

600 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. Purchased as part of "best of 2015" pack. Cost ended up as $6.50 CDN. Nothing like a tropical saison on one of the coldest days of the year to get you thinking about summer. Bottled November 4, 2015.

Appearance - The beer pours a hazy pale golden color that is more orange outside of direct light. A fine finger and a half of brilliant white head forms and recedes slowly leaving a plethora of lacing. Some visible carbonation.

Smell - starts like many in the style, a little earthy and dank with some fruity esters shining through. Mango shows more here than in others, but considering it is one of the focal points of the beer, it is rather quiet.

Taste - Mild, with some earthy bitterness and a hint of mango. Sweetness is low, with yeasty and wheat flavors filling the gaps. Wish the mango was dialed up just a bit more, but still a passable saison.

Mouthfeel - Smooth, light body, crisp carbonation. Pretty good feel overall.

Overall - A nice spin on a saison, but I'm not sure Fous Allies deviates quite enough from a standard saison to make this truly interesting. Still very well made by two of Canad's more prominent craft breweries, so certainly future collaborations will be worth investigating as this one is.

Bottle: Poured a light yellow color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of tart notes with light mango notes is pleasant. Taste is a nice mix of light mango notes with some tart and sour notes. Body is light with good carbonation. The mango notes could be even more straightforward but nevertheless this is a nice refreshing take on the style.

See-through golden beer with a huge white head with big bubbles and lots of carbonation. Fruity smell, mostly hoppy. You get grapefruits, oranges and citrus in the nose with a subtle aroma a mangoes. You also have a grain and yeast smell. Definitely less hoppy in the mouth, you taste more the mangoes than you smell them, nice wheat presence in the mouth. Overall it's a nice fruity saison but from a collaboration between Beau's and Trou du Diable I expected something better.
