Definitely one of the better Lagers I've tried to date. They advertise it as a strong beer with a bit of a bolder taste. For the most part I'd have to agree. It's not really that strong, but it tastes richer, bolder with more flavor that most other Lagers I've had. Musty yellow color, pretty thick head for a Lager and a nice amount of foamy lace on the glass. It looks a little lighter than it tastes. Overall a solid Lager."

A friend of mine brought this back from Canada for me. Pours a wonderful dark yellow/light orange color. Aroma is faint. Taste is stong, nutty, some alcohol hints even though this is only 6%. I just find it odd to find nutty flavors in a Lager. Rich and velvety in the mouthfeel. A welcome surpise from our friends up north.

Hey, it's actually quite a refreshing lager. Not the typical adjunct junk. Pours a medium yellow colour. Not pale, not dark, just in the middle of mediocrity. Initial head is a thick two fingers, but that slowly goes away to a thin foam. Their are little bits of lace rings after every swallow, keeping a record of where the top of the beer was. Smells a bit sweet. Lots of malted barley in this brew. Bit of a cider smell as well. Granny smith apples. Taste starts out sweet and refreshing. Then the apples kick in, with a sour taste. Aftertaste is a little bitter, and the only indication hops were used. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing. Highly drinkable as a refreshing lawnmower lager.

some sweet malt in a crisp refreshing initial swallow.. That's it. Sour Bad breath aftertaste. Hint of some apple and spice. Little hops of course. Better than national brands. Gold amber colour with some foam (wait for the foam to sink for health).

--Regular brown bottle, no freshness found
--Poured a bright, golden in color. Average head that slimmed to nothing. Minor lacing and minor bubbling.
--Smell was a wide mixture: some sweet smells as wellas some yeast I think.

I bought this as a sampling 6 pack and this was the last one I tried. I found other beers in the pack that I like better. As my score states, I found this to be an average beer. I wouldn't turn it down but I wouldn't seek it out either. It was almost too sweet for me.
Thx

Well I seem to be odd man out here. I wasn't particularly impressed with this beer. It had that nasty sweetish corn taste that I so dislike in a beer. When a beer gets like that the sweetness of it impairs any other flavours that there might be in enjoy in there.

Other than that, a rather average beer to look at. I also picked this up as part of a sampler six pack - which I think is a great idea - but found other beers in there that I much more enjoyed. I'll try it again sometime just to see if my mouth was having an off day.

I bought this rebellion in a sixpack sampler from the UCBC.... 6 separate offerings in the pack.....a nice way to introduce drinkers to the company's varirty.

The rebellion lager is a medium heavy lager made with spring (naturally soft) water and I think this gives it a unique character.(only Neustadt springs beer seems to share this characteristic) The water actually has a smoothing effect on a 6%+ AVB beer. Although it's 6% it is a mellow and soothing brew.

Comes in relatively non distict brown bottle. Pours a medium clear gold (must be some multiple filtering in this craft brew) with a smallish white head that goes quickly to a "lace ring". Aromas of sweet barley malt, yeasts and slight spice. Starts out bold an fills the palate with a large hit of malt-yeast-hop gusto then finishes rather uniquely (for a 6% brew) with delicate hints of malt sweetness mixed with faint yeasty nut-like tastes. All in all a good brew....I will look for it on tap as I think this is where this beer will shine.

Bought at The Beer Store (Terry Fox North of the 417: Kanata), a couple of days in the trunk, a couple of days in the fridge.

A reasonable pour gives a very big cream-white head that settles slowly to give sticky sheets of lacing with big holes in them. Beer is gold with tendencies to amber. Carbonation is lethargic. Wow. There's a sweet, candy, caramel smell with hints of apples and hops. The front is all sweet, grainy goodness. There's almost some spice. The fruity middle turns a little sour and flattish, but it's good. And what a nice, hoppy fresh finish showing some grain.

This is a good, solid strong lager. Very good.

I like this brew but would not want to make a habit of it......the ABV scares me off a little as it is a strong brew at 6.0%......
The product itself is a deep golden colour and full bodied with limited head.....the taste is semi bitter and the nose is crisp and clean.....there is no lingering after taste.
Acceptable!

Presentation: 12 oz. bottle with mention of rebellions, and "bold and honest" brew talk. Ingredients clearly labeled.

Appearance: Clean and golden with 1/4 inch white frothy head that sticks.

Smell: Combinations of light malts, distinct hops and mild yeast aromas.

Taste: Smooth malty thinness, followed by a their unique watery hop flavour and a sweet bitterness. Lightly carbonated and finishing a tad sour/bitter. Many complexities to be found.

Notes: Not a bad lager at all, perhaps not as "bold" as it brags on the label. Again I think triple cold filtering is impairing the fullness of flavours you would expect. Either that, or we Americans are not used to beers crafted with pure spring water.
