A: The finest bubbles I have ever seen in a beer cascade through the auburn colored beer to leave a creamy off-white head with great lacing and retention.

S: Strong notes of sherry and alcohol with a slight sugary sweetness.

T: Sweet alcohol flavors (more toward liqueurs than sherry or port). I did not get any bourbon notes or even any vanilla. Overall I felt that the barrel aging just made the beer sweeter.

M: Smooth and creamy with a lingering sugary finish.

D: The sweetness and high alcohol would limit me to one serving. This may be a beer that needs to be enjoy alongside some dessert.

First time having this beer with the bourbon to it.

Brown body with a small white creamy head.Never seems to leave.

Nose of straight hardcore ass bourbon.I cant really smell too much of anything else.

Bourbon,malty and no hop taste.

Creamy mouthful and nothing too offensive.Great actually.

Very heavy on the abv. but still a sipper but if you sip it,it will treat you right to a certain extent.Great beer.

Appears a hazy, dark amber with a crimson hue when held up to the light. A mahogany, off-white, creamy head slowly drops but never really fades. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of huge amounts of bourbon, vanilla, dried red cherries, honey roasted cashews, complexities of brown sugar, caramel, sugar cookies, and toffee.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas that seem to blend together nicely in a bourbony mix of vanilla and caramel. Try a snicker doodle cookie minus the high dosage of cinnamon and wash it down with a top shelf bourbon. Delicious stuff.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, mildly spiced, with an alcohol warming burn on the way down.
This is by far, the best Rock Bottom beer I've ever had. I don't think I could've gotten a better holiday gift from these guys.

Had this at RB in Cincinnati at Fountain Square. This was called "St. Nick's Bourbon Barleywine" so I guess this is the right listing.

Received in a 9-10 oz. snifter.

3.5 A: Deep, deep amber that looks more like a brownish plum color. Came without a head.

3.5 S: It took me a while to figure out what this smells like, but then I got it....OVALTINE! Otherwise, lots of sweetness with plum, prune, fig, and raisin fruitiness. Bourbon adds leather, fruity, and spice.

3.5 T: Pretty much the same as the nose, but with less ovaltine. Booze is very much apparent.

4.0 M: Heavy body. Good moderate carbonation. Quite sticky. Good here.

3.5 D: A little strange and definitely boozy, but tasty nonetheless.

On tap at KoP. On cask.

Poured a meidum and cloudy amberish - brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of oak, woody, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, citrus, and some dark fruits. The woodiness came out as I drank more and more. Tastes of bourbon that was stronger than the aromas, vanilla, caramel, some nuttiness, and citrus. Light to medium alcohol in the finish but I would now have guessed 12%.
