Lovely caramel color with crystal malts all over the nose and flavor with a perfect hop balance. Say what you will about GB but they have mastered a few lagers including this one. Possibly the best maibock I've ever had. The winterbock is even better.

Mild copper colors and gold, 1/2" white head. Aroma was muted.

Some mild sweetness, hoppiness held in check appropriate to style, light body, tons of carbonation. Mild breadiness. The caramel intrusions aren't the sweet or heavy kind. Its not heavy malt, but its malt forward. The yeast flavors are muddled, some citrus, bread, alcohol.

On tap at the Louisville brew house. Beautiful Amber brown, brisk bock tang. Fine head that reduces to a nice film.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the Seattle location.

Appearance: murky brown-orange hue with a thick finger of ivory foam. Not at all bad.

Smell: toasty and caramelly with a lightly balanced sweetness. I like it.

Taste: sweet with a nice caramelly character. There's a hint of toastiness that works well. There's also a nicely balanced bitterness that I dig.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a surprisingly decent maibock; worth a try!
