Appearance: Dark amber with lots of foam and great lacing I think. Darker than the Schwarzbier. (Not sure if that's good for Alt Bier or bad for Schwarbier...maybe both.)

Smell: Fermented fruit. Very fruity in fact. Deep malts present here.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Pleasantly bitter, but not overly bitter. Some fruit and coffee malts. Very nice.

Drinkability: A fairly heavy beer. The fruit and alcohol could overpower after a while.

A: medium reddish brown, good clarity, the tan head fades slowly into a good cap with good lacing. Overall a very enticing beer.

S: sweet malts, some light earthy notes, floral Germanic hops notes.

T: the start is very malty and sweet but not cloying, the middle features some light chocolate/coffee notes and light floral hops, the finish is off-dry and smooth. This beer exhibits great balance. A solid effort.

M: medium-weight, nicely carbonated, well-rounded.

D: this is a much better seasonal than the GB Festbier. I recommend it highly.

The Alt was the seasonal offering.

It was served in a tall GB glass. The beer is darkish brown with a chill haze and a skim of off-white head.

The beer has a sweet nose, toffee backed with brown sugar and apples.

The taste is sweet, yet earthy and grounded by something that reminds me of a taffy apple. Beer has some slightly roasted malt notes that emerge late, this is all backed by a bit of red apple. I like this alt!

The mouth has decent low carbonation complimented by some nice slickness.

This is an easy drinker and a style I would like to see more brewpubs tackle.
