On tap at max's during Baltimore Beer Week.

The beer pours a viscuous blackish brown color with fair head retention and minimal lacing. This beer looks as if it's seen some serious barrel aging. The nose is hugely aromatic, with considerable bourbon, sherry, light vanilla and light coffee. This beer is clearly a beer for bourbon lovers (that would be me, don't cha know). Flavor profile replicates the nose in this hugely flavored beer. While it's moderately sweet, that sweetness is countered very well by the bourbon and slightly oxidized sherry flavor. Mouthfeel is full, long, and very, very boozy.

The bar menu lists this as 12% abv. per the beer rep, but as the cellar master at Max's pointed out, it's really more like 14% or 15%. This beer is very reminescent of vodoo's black magik, except if anything, it's even more boozy.

Impressive stuff.... I'm amazed to see this at Max's.
