A - clear, dark orange. Zip all for head.
S - sweet malt with some alcohol, a bit of bread and fruit lurking in the background.
T - sweet buttered toast, really quite nice. Barely enough hops to finish it off.
M - heavy body helps pronounce the overall sweetness. I find the flavour doesn't linger very long on the tongue.
D - definite alcohol warmth, but pleasing.
A good, but not great doppel. With each sip, I keep hoping for a long smooth aftertaste, but there is almost nothing.

Served in pint glass from 12 oz bottle
Appearance: Pours a 2" pillowy cream colored head that falls slowly with mild lacing. Color is cloudy copper-brown with some moderate streaming carbonation.
Aroma: rich malt flavors of caramel, fresh bread, raisins and ripe fruit. Earthy and herbal hops.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied and slightly astringent with a somewhat dry finish.
Flavor: similar flavors to the aroma. The alcohol is (dangerously) well hidden in this beer. It does not drink like an 8.2% abv beer, but more like a session ale.
Overall: a pleasing malt bomb. Recommended for anyone who enjoys malty brews.

Second time on this.
I'm not sure why its average score is not giving it proper due.
I found a straightforward, honest double-bock.
Nice malt and enough hops to keep it interesting enough for a third next year.

Brown pour, off white head in the 2/5" range. Aroma was of brown sugar, brown malt, chocolate malt and a slight nuttiness.
Taste brought the alcohol head and more of the sweetness, but not enough to cover up the booze. Dark fruits give it some metallic bitterness, needs more malt for the mouthfeel to shine. Some toffee malt stuff going on if you can get past the negatives in the form of bitter, boozy and metallic.

Best by 05/13. Rating set to current average.
Aroma is dominated by deeply caramelized, nutty malt, with hints of plums, figs, and dates adding complexity. There's a hint of cardboard.
Flavor reveals sherry and black cherry upfront, fading to a sweet caramel malt backbone that dries out to a toasted, nutty finish. Still some alcohol warmth.
Not terribly complex, but may stand up a couple more years.

Opening the bottle releases a trace of buttery diacetyl aroma but it quickly fades. It pours a hazy chestnut with virtually no head. The aromas and flavors are big and bready but the body is thin and the carbonation fizzy. Overall, a little meh.
