Upscale brewery restaurant with prices to match. Free valet parking.
Nine house beers on tap. The food is over-priced. While the beer is reasonably priced, the variety and quality is not up with a number of other choices in Atlanta such as the Wrecking Bar or (any) Five Seasons ... and the food is better at these alternatives.

I do like their oktoberfest that seems to be available 12 months a year, food its like every other big chain restaurant, seems like a place where people go after work or where you go and watch a game.
Most of their beers are sort of regular, well done, sort of macro brewery play it safe, not bad quality and served in big glasses, its on a pretty nice area and close to the Metropolis TacoMac and the Vortex bar.

Was really close to my hotel and only had a few hours to catch a brew and a bit of food. Sadly, I didn't have the chance to check out some of the better beer sites in Atlanta, but hopefully I will get to visit again.

Anyway, the atmosphere was just OK. Mostly post-work khakis and suits sitting in and around the bar area. I sat at a two-seater table, and had really fine service. The server was nice, prompt, and offered to explain anything and everything, though I didn't take her up on that.

Place had a really modern restaurant feel to it, and was actually quite large in terms of seating and space. Huge bar area, and there were numerous tables throughout. Really 'new' looking in terms of the decor and furniture. Had a kinda manufactured character to it, but it wasn't terrible or anything. Just generic.

Had about eight of their brews available on tap, and the ones I sampled were quite good in terms of quality and were definitely fresh and handled well. Just a few macro guest brews in bottles. Prices for the beer were really reasonable, and same went for the food.

The menu was quite large, but I stuck with a more than solid chicken sandwich and garlic fries.

This was an OK place and their brews made up for the lacking atmosphere, but I am sure there are far better places to hit in Atlanta (and I hope to visit them).

A group of us went there on Christmas Eve, and the place was empty for post-lunch, which was fine with us. The service was good, considering we had two children with us. Selection was common for a brewpub; I must admit that the Winterbock was surprisingly yummy. Food was good. I had the goat cheese ravioli, which completed the Winterbock well. As for the prices, it was standard fare. Pub group were between 7 and 12 dollars, and the dinner meals were higher. Knowing this establishment is part of a chain, I might be skeptical in visiting another Gordon Beirsch. However, I would not think twice about coming back to the ATL location.

Second trip to this place, neither visit was impressive to say the least.

Most recent was a Sunday night, so it was not overly busy. Took the waitstaff about 15 minutes to finally ask if we wanted something to drink and another 10 to bring it out. Had the blonde bock and it was barely finishable...barley. I think they only had 3 beers on tap, so they made up for the fourth by offering a mixed beer of the dunkel and blonde. The dunkel was slightly better than the blonde bock, but not by much. Also ordered a pizza, when it came out I thought there were white/yellow onions all over the pizza. It turns out they were all whole garlic cloves, waaay to many.

Ended up having to leave after 2 beers and seeking out a better drinking establishment.
Definitely will not go back.

This is a really nice, upscale looking place with great ambience. Easy to find along Peachtree St. (yes, but aren't they ALL called Peachtree Street?), in what looks to be a fairly decent area of town. The service was good, with the good news being the bartender would provide plenty of samples at the drop of a hat and was nice as heck. The bad news is that none of the beers is at all noteworthy. Corporate-made lagers really aren't designed to stand out, but come on...at least step out a bit. The Marzen, Pilsner, "Blond" Bock (whatever that is) were all almost identical. The dunkel (a basic dark lager) has no malty notes whatsoever. What's the point in making it? While competently made to the mass tastes that appear to be the norm in Atlanta, these beers just don't stand out by any beer geek definition I have. The food was fairly decent, so maybe that's what the attraction is here. All in all, though, GB may be one of the best of the national chain "brewpubs" and actually does merit a stop.

Went here with my unit during annual tour, as we always try to do when we travel. Great atmosphere, not hard to find, makes you want to dress up a bit. Plenty of seating, and the servers are extremely friendly, not to mention prompt. Ordered our beers and they were in front of us before any of us could ask "hey, didn't we order beer?" The IPA was great, not exceptional but great. I had the margarhita pizza, that was decent but I've had better. Pool tables were good and plenty of space for them. Plenty of beers to choose from and we did not go dry. I reccomend this for anyone visiting the area (that is who isn't a local and dosen't know of anywhere better).

In a nice midtown location. Fairly large space, with lofted seating as well. There's not enough room at the bar, but there are a number of high-top tables adjacent to the bar.
Gotta love the free beer sampler, as others have mentioned. I went with a pint of the Blonde Bock, which was not bad. Service was decent, the beer was decent, the selection was 6 choices (seasonal was an alt). Beer was mostly ok. We didn't try the food.
Not my first choice for Atlanta, but not a bad stop if you're in midtown; could easily combine it with a trip to the Vortex or a number of other locations in the area.

I had a very good experience here. I caught the bartender on a slow day. As he poured more than a few pints, we discussed all things beer and brewing. The brewery takes on a retail feel, right on the street and sidewalk, and allowing very good visability into and out of the otherwise standard, dreary bar. The interiors gleamed with light colored woods and stainless steel. Airy and loft-like inside with a quite, confident brewery metality. The standard 5 beers were pure, simple, and very well brewed, formulated, and handled. The seasonal (Vienna) was also a welcome surprise. As I told the bartender, I can appreciate a brewery who knows their identity (German lager-based) and does not get distracted with the IIPA's, Imperial Stouts, and 12%'ers. The food was varied so that there is a taste for everyone; all done reasonably well. Albeit on the lighter side, the foods paired well with the beers. A welcoming place, just don't expect any bells or whistles, or any exotic American experiments.

Located in midtown a short walk from two MARTA rail stations, it is easy to find and appears to have adequate parking. Interior is open, clean and inviting. There is plenty of seating, from booths and tables for two to large tables for six to eight patrons, as well as a long bar and plenty of outdoor seating. The waitstaff are helpful, courteous, alert and quick. Beer servings are on the generous side, so you have to be careful - even when I followed my own rule of one beer an hour, I still got a little fuzzy. Menu is extensive, and the food I did have was delicious and satisfying. I tried four of their beers and found all of them to be decidedly drinkable.

This is a good place to have a Meetup or other sort of gathering, especially because it is easy to let MARTA be your designated driver.

My aunt and uncle swear by the one that I turned them on to in their native Washington, DC, so I am a fan of the chain by proxy.

This location was in ATL's Midtown section, which seemed to be up and coming. It was well-lit and as I approached, the brickwork was enticing. Entering through a short vestibule, the m.d.s. was directly inside of the doorway. In fact, the m.d.s.'s position helped to bisect the space. The bar area was to the left with many high tables and chairs plus a couple of booths and the marble-topped bar was to the extreme left. All of the way aft was the kitchen and the smells wafting from the brick oven were mouthwatering. The right side was mainly booth seating. There was lots of vintage advertising throughout the space.

Upstairs, off to the left, was the brewhouse, fronted by a small bar. Off to the right up there were high tables and chairs as well as three billiards tables.

My server was a personable fellow named Justin. I really enjoyed their seasonal Festbier.

I must say that I was underwhelmed with Gordon Biersch in terms of its beers. The selection is lacking--I was really in the mood for an IPA or even just a pale ale. I sampled the seasonal, a pumpkin spice beer. Usually these beers are, to my taste, overspiced and too heavy on the pumpkin. This one went too far in the opposite direction; I couldn't make out much pumpkin OR spice. I decided to go with the Dunkles, which I found to be bland.

The atmosphere was not what I would expect from a brewpub. In fact, I don't recall seeing the brewing equipment on my visit, though I didn't explore the entire premises. All in all, it seemed to me to be very sterile.

That said, the food was awesome. I fully enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich, and I think they have the best french fries I have ever had. They are coated with some sort of minced garlic concoction that had me drooling.

I have mixed feelings about Gordon Biersch (GB) over the 5+years I have been in the Atlanta area. On my first visit I wasn't impressed with the taste of the food vs. the price. However, after multiple visits over the years I have warmed to the food selection and the taste of many of the dishes are excellent. The atmosphere to me is rather generic and it feels like the big-business that it is (i.e. It feels sanitized). Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful place, but the overall feel is of less and not more. The focus is taken off the beer (which is good beer) and it looks like they even took steps to hide the on-site brewery. The staff give canned speeches on each style and it all has a MacBeer or Wal-Beer feel to it. However, the beer is rather good and I'm very fond of the Marzen and occasion I follow it up with the Dunkles. This is the type of place I will readily go if a friend asks but I'm not inspired to go on my own.

GB in Atlanta was a welcome oasis in a city that is surprisingly void of a decent selection. The beers were fine (particularly the Kolsch), but the food was superior.

The layout features a large open space with an exposed kitchen. Very typical brewpub look. I liked the outdoor patio, but this August evening was a bit too humid for my liking, so I ate at the bar.

Asking the bartender for his recommendations, I was very pleased with the Ahi Tuna, ordered rare ($20 in 8-05). The preparation and the sauce were superb. The meal was superior to similar orders which cost me $40+. The presentation was poor (a ice cream scoop of rice with pool of collard greens), but the flavor was delightful. I also had the Southwest eggrolls (appetizer) which were very tasty but a bit dry.

The Pilsner and Marzen were good, while the seasonal Kolsch was superb. This restaurant was located in the midtown section of Atlanta.

I wanted to go hit brewpubs, but they were like, "We're taking all of you out for dinner tonight in Atlanta", and you know, it was a work stint, so you really have to deal and go to their shitty sushi place. Now here's the part that kills me. We leave said shitty sushi place, and I can see Gordon Biersch a block and a half up on the other side of the street. I mean, hell, I'm right there, but I'm one of the people with wheels, and I carted a couple of people into the city from the hotel, some dozen miles back towards the airport, and am going to have to cart them back. So I resign myself to the "guess Gordon Biersch ain't happening", and head back to the hotel. But I'm itchy, you know? So I get into the lobby, and say, "Yo, Connecticut, what are you doin'? You up for a beer?" And yep, we drove back to Gordon Biersch...
Long narrow room, with seating to the right and a marble top bar to the left. The bar seats about a dozen and a half, and they've got 2 towers pouring 5 beers and a few TV's hanging about. The bar overlooks roughly 18 bar tables with low lantern lighting. The rest of the room is basically seating area, 4 dozen tables of different sizes and shapes with string lighting. Yellow walls with ivy covered canopies over the booths, large brown wood pillars and wooden beam awnings, checkered German flags and large German beer prints, and an open faced kitchen to the rear. There's a large display case right in front of you as you enter with cool old beer steins and mugs, some of them dating back to the 1700's. At both ends of the bar lie doorways to the outside deck, housing a dozen tables and 6 smaller round bar tables. A staircase towards the back leads you upstairs to a room with 3 pool tables and a small bar, and a party room off of that as well as a small room with a bunch of fermenters. You can get a good view of the entire place from up there.
Meanwhile, they're pouring just 5 beers (Marzen, Dunkles, Golden Export, Hefe & Blonde Bock). Asked for a sampler and got 5 small half filled glasses. Was taken aback for about 6.27481 seconds before remembering my sampler experience from the Gordon Biersch in Las Vegas, which is that their idea of a sampler is giving you a taste of all of their beers. It's a freebie so they're not pouring you full 4 ounce glasses, they're really just tasters. Sampled the wares and then had me a pint of the Dunkles which I think is the best of the lot of 'em, although the Marzen ain't too shabby either. Would like to have seen a seasonal or something but you get what you get.

Atmosphere – This is hard to define. The set-up was very non-traditional for a brewpub, but I think in a good way. The table area was very nice. It was almost like a fine steakhouse. They serve steak and other fine foods so maybe it was just right.

The booths were high-backed with “privacy walls” which is conducive to a nice, quiet evening. The bar area on the other hand was very open and conducive to people watching. All in all a very good mix.

Quality – Everything here was top-notch. The quality of the building materials and furniture itself was beyond reproach. The walls were adorned with fine pictures, many historical, and other places draped with the Bavarian flag. Everything here indicated a huge financial start-up capital.

Service – The service on my one visit was very good. I went during an off hour, which doesn’t always guarantee good service as we know, but Lee was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the beers.

Selection – I was somewhat disappointed at the selection. They didn’t seem to have much else other than GB, which is OK for a brewpub, but they only had four of their own beers available.

Food – I ordered an Asian-style cashew chicken stir fry. The sweet ‘n sour sauce was exceptional and a bit spicy as I like it. This was served atop a bed of Jasmine rice that was cooked just right.

They now have 6 beers available up from 4, so a slight selection raise is in order. All beers remain decent and to style.

This is a very nice and well-designed brewpub. It is very airy and the designer has made excellent use of dark wood and glass to give this a very unique and classy look. I liked the touch of having the Munich banners hung from the ceiling. They have a smallish bar, but a great set-up of lots of long tables and booths. They also have a nice small garden for those days when it’s actually cool enough to spend time outside in Atlanta.

They had four of their beers available. I tried the wheat and the marzen. Both were decent but not spectacular representatives of style.

The food was very good. I hosted a business diner there and everyone seemed to like their food. We had some good appetizers to lead things off and the dinner portions were generous.

All-in-all a very nice place. I think they could be a little more adventurous with their beers, but I plan on going back next time I’m in town.

I'm not a big fan of this place. The beers are consistent and gorgeous, but a bit middle of the road in the flavor department. It's also one of those places that try to be trendy and upscale with their food, but it's really not worth the price you have to pay. I kind of like the design of the place, though and the pool tables upstairs are nice. You just have to be careful though, the staff doesn't really know anything about the beer and there are instances of poor service.

The place itself is actually very cool with outdoor seating (which unfortunately faces the parking lot) and an upstairs with pool tables and a separate bar. The food is pretty good with some solid standbys, but I usually stuck with the appy's. The beer is just ok in my book, I usually had the marzen because they were usually out of most things and I just didn't care for the Hefeweizen they had. The main dining room is attractive as well, but I rarely used because of the upstairs, the bar and the surrounding area with casual pub tables. The crowd can get on the yuppy side so be prepared for Southern belles.
