Easy to drive by and small looking from the outside. Cluttered and messy store inside with many displays of wine ,spirits and beer everywhere, it was very disorganized Selection is good here however as is service there is a nice selection of bombers and singles and chilled beer , ifv i lived in the area would probably shops here ,cause of service and selection. Not a destination shop for me.

Went with the intention of picking up what I can't get at home in Iowa. The staff was helpful in recommending some of their favorites and even carrying my purchase to my vehicle. Additionally they offered discounts on everything i purchased due to how much i spent. Prices seemed reasonable from other placed I've visited in the area and the selection of singles was decent.

My only complaint would be that there was no order to how beers were shelved through the store. Overall good experience and somewhere in would return in the future.

I used to work in the twin citiesa few years back and never made it this far north. Then family moved to Maple Grove and on a visit I sought a liqueur store. After visiting a few others in the area this seems to have the best selection. Other places will have your surly bells summits etc. This place stood out by first, having many breweries in stock i had never herd of and second the singles selection was great, the best way to try new breweries. After bringing my selection to the check out the man scanned my furious and asked if i had had Wet. I had not and he suggest a few possible bar stating i wasn't likely to find it in any beer store without some searching.

Overall i would recommend especial for ease and convenience for one who doeskin live in the area.

I drove right by it and had to circle around. Once inside the square footage seems to open up. This place has a very large selection of craft beers both in coolers, in verticals and on shelves.

They have a good at least 25 foot aisle lined both sides with singles, and bombers. I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed at all there was to choose from. They have from what I saw a huge selection of wine and spirits as well.

The staff was there at least, they seemed to hover around the register and the TV. I was in the location for at least 20 minutes and wasn't asked if I needed help or had questions. That won't deter me from coming back because you run into that at several other places.

Princeton's seems to have established their niche in both providing great selections to the NW Metro and supplying the beer nerds in what they desire.

***Addendum: I have returned to Princeton's twice since the initial review and have received top notch service!

Visited Feb 16, 2012 on a visit to the Twin Cities.

Missed it in the parking lot, as it is tiny from the outside, but opens up once you get in. Two 15+ foot shelving units (3 or 4 shelves high) of single beers, sadly all held at room temperature. Lots of packages of beer chilled on the back wall.

Very helpful staff, with many interesting beers around. Jolly Pumpkin, Mikkeler, Surly, Summit, Bell's, Anchorage... No Abrasive here though as I was told they have to get their Surly through a distributor. This was a great disappointment.

Left with a ton of bombers of neat beers, great beer store but not as large a selection as Surdyk's (although maybe more special stuff) nor Zipp's. Rock solid store, and best store easily accessible from the 494.

I wish Princeton's was able to move up on distributor lists priority. I often come into the store (this store is the closest micro beer store to my house) and leave with something, but not something i came in for. They do get some very quality micro beers however usually after the rest of the metro area or sometimes not at all due to distributor politics. It's unfortunate because i have recommended this location to others in the area and have built a good relationship with the staff. At the end of the day, i feel that i am better off going to other locations around the metro area that move more volume or are able to obtain a larger variety of beers from distributors. The pricing is reasonable at Princeton's.

If you're in the Maple Grove area, this is as good as it gets for a micro beer store. If you're willing to drive a bit, there are better options within 10 miles.

Stopped by Princeton's Liquors briefly yesterday before heading out of town. The store is located in a strip mall next to a Caribou Coffee, and is quite easy to find. The place doesn't appear all that big from the outside, but when you walk in, it's actually fairly good size.

Most of the focus here appears to be on wine and liquor, but straight back from the door, there is a modest size area featuring a nice selection of craft beer and a few imports. The craft selection is pretty decent, with I think 3 or 4 coolers of cold beer, along with several shelf displays of craft beer. It's a good idea to double check the cold box if the display appears to indicate the store is out of something, as oftentime you'll find that beer in the cold box (Epic DIPA for example). On the day I was here, the store didn't have any Steel Toe bombers (one guy had heard of it and indicated they didn't expect to get any bombers in, while the cashier indicated he had never heard of Steel Toe), but they had a nice selection of Surly and Summit, as well as a nice regional selection (Odells, among other things; I grabbed a couple of Epic bombers off the shelf).

Service was pretty good. I was directed to the beer section when I walked in, and someone came by to ask if I needed any help while browsing.

While I wouldn't call Princeton's extraordinairy in any way, they struck me as a good place to stop by to stock up on craft beer if you happened to be in the neighborhood. Not sure I saw anything there that would make want to go out of my way, but as the store was within 10 minutes of my hotel, it was perfect for me.

This is one of the best liquor stores in the twin city area. The staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. They always welcome you when you walk in and ask if they can help you.

Their selection is pretty good and is only limited because of the space of the store. I am sure they would carry more beers if they had the space. They are also very good about sending emails and text messages to inform you of tastings and new arriving beers.
It always seems like the employees really enjoy working there.
The prices are some of the best in the state.

This is my "other" go to spot for beer. Not only because I work minutes away, but also because the crew that run the place really go out of their way to make sure they have what you're looking for, tell why they may not have what you're looking for and also tell you when they may have what you're looking for if it's not there at that moment.

Princeton's also does a really good job of updating their facebook status with new tastings and arrivals which I appreciate greatly as a consumer.

They have a great single bottle selection, large format beers and normal 6 and 4 pack offerings.

Stop in and chat them up because they are knowledgeable, and knowledge is power.

I stopped here and was immediately asked if I needed help upon entering the store. Saw a good selection of singles and was well stocked in Surly brews. The store also was well laid out and had a clean, modern feel to it. Not the size of some stores as far as volume (overall and as far as stocking of particular beers), but that may only be perceived. The people definitely know their beer and their relative proximity to Surly certainly doesn't hurt. If I was in the northwest suburbs I would stop here again which is more than possible, probably likely.

I've shopped at Princeton's Liquors a handful of times now, and have been quite impressed. There selection is very large, but not quite huge. They have all of the usual craft beer brands with a lot of unique harder to find stuff too. The layout of the beer selection is rather jumbled with craft beer shelved on a number of small non-matching shelves and coolers. It really makes which really make it hard to find what you are looking for. The service has always been good on my visits. I have always been greeted when entering, and someone has always approached me to ask if I needed help finding anything. They are also knowledgeable about beer, and have been able to answer my questions. Overall, Princeton's probably isn't the best beer store in the Twin Cities, but it is worth mentioning in the discussion.

Stopped in on my way up to the in-laws. Conveniently located right off of 494 and Bass Lake Rd. Never realized how quick of a stop this place was from the freeway. Walk in and am promptly greeted by Larry and shortly after by Bill the beer guy. Both guys extremely friendly and helpful. Top notch customer service. I wanted to pick up a Great Lakes sampler pack but they were all out. Bill made up a sampler for me with singles they had, even threw in the Commodore Perry and charged the same price they charged for the regular sampler. Oh yeah, he cracked a bottle of the Commodore for me and another gentleman to sample. Great guy! Selection was great. I think I was most impressed with the singles selection which included cans of Surly which is a rare thing to see. Lots of rare and high quality brews, many of which were cheaper than where I normally shop. If you are in the area, Princeton's is a can't miss place. I will be back again when in the area.

I spent the weekend in Minneapolis and this place was close to my friends house. I thought I would give it a try.

Upon entering I noticed the singles section right away. Decent size. Not the largest I've seen but very worthwhile. A nice amount of local stuff. Which is what I was looking for. Surly, Lift Bridge, Flat Earth. Most of the stuff was beer I could get back home but I wouldn't hold that against them. It's not like it's across the country.

The guys working there were super helful and fun to talk about beer with. They gave us a couple tips to make our evening a little more interesting as well.

All the beers I bought were within repected dates and tasted fresh. So no complaints there.

Overall a nice beer store from an out of town point of view.
