from a bottle to a beer tulip, batch 805
look; black with a slight mahogany hue, some carbonation visible near the edge of the glass, but pretty opaque. no head, a little spotty lacing
smell; sour cherry, mild barnyard funk, nice but not much to it
taste; sour cherry is dominant, brett, sour apricot, sour melon, sour leather, sour grass, flavor more complex than the nose, basically sour but let it hang on the palate and enjoy the subtle variety
feel; medium light body, mild tingly carbonation, almost crisp, smooth with a little pucker on the finish
overall; A tasty light sour, I was hoping for more 'funk' from the name but very enjoyable, sour pop

bottle from september 2015, obviously this one is old now, but sure is drinking well. a rare treat at this point i would think, not sure how many of these can really still be around. its got a nice deep dark brown color to it and a little body, but it doesnt have much head at all, looks still almost. the aroma is awesome, mature bacterial twang and a nice oaky tannic profile with hints of dark coffee, vanilla, and high end red wine, a ton of jammy dark berries, this must have been aged in red wine barrels. some nice funk the the flavor too, bretty and farmy and really well developed, no oxidation at all, almost drinking like a classic oud bruin now, maybe a little darker on the malt side of things, but it has that old world yeasty complexity and the right amount of vinegar tang. red wine is heavy in the flavor too, oak and mashed up dark fruit, cherry and blackberry and prune, its awesome! a little thin in feel without much carbonation, but that might just be a product of its age. i was super impressed with this overall, unique and mature yeast character and a ton of barrel on it. absolutely delicious almost three years old!

Dark brown, approaching black, with a wisp of tan head that leaves a thin crown. Malt forward sour aroma with hints of tobacco, black strap molasses and apricot. Very dry, with a light-to-medium bodied mouthfeel and very slight creaminess. Weird mix of flavors, including tobacco, cherries, hops and raw potato followed by a burst of tartness in the aftertaste. Haven't had too many unblended lambics to compare it to, but I've got to imagine the tobacco malt profile here is pretty unique. Not something I'd drink frequently, but worth trying.
