Bottle: poured a cloudy slightly dirty golden color ale with a super large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of banana ester is quite strong with some light wheat malt notes and light cloves as well. Taste is a nice mix between some banana ester with light wheat malt and some subtle cloves notes. Body is a bit too light for style with great carbonation. I really enjoyed the ester but the body and malt backbone was too light and seems to miss a bit of the yeasty finish that I usually enjoy in this style.

Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Murky / cloudy pale brown colour. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Typical hefe aroma, cloves and ripe bananas. Yeasty flavour with cloves, a bit more hops than in many other hefes.

bottle, beer palace - oslo

from notes

appearance: cool label, poured aggressively into a weizen glass revealing a hazy yellow body and a ton of yeast sediment. wavy white head

smell: banana, fruity esters, clove

taste: refreshing on a pretty hot day - almost like a hefe-smoothie - very heavy on the yeast, banana and pineapple flavors come through strong as does white pepper, corriander and clove

mouthfeel: pulpy

overall : pretty good

500ml bottle courtesy of a Beermasons subscription. Poured into a 7oz glass and split with work colleagues.

Pours a very clear pale golden colour with a white head of foam that has no worries about reaching more than 2 fingers in height. The foam recedes very quickly to form a ring around the extremities of the glass. Some carbonation still rising from the bottom of the glass throughout. Given the clearness, i'd say this is a Kristallweizen and not a Hefeweizen. As such the appearance is rated upon being classified as a Kristallweizen.

Smell is of banana, but more dried banana than fresh, as well as some clove. A touch earthy at times too.

Taste is yeasty with just a touch of banana coming through. Not a lot in the finish of this, pretty much just the yeast and banana upfront.

Slight bit of tartness at the end follows on from a pretty decently sized wheat beer before it. Some carbonation felt in the mouthfeel addint a little bite to it.

Overall, decent, no real faults, but uninspiring.

This pours a good light golden colour with a big white head. Head retention could be better. The major issue though is the large clump of brown yeast that falls to the bottom. While I expect yeast in a weizen, this clump of brown is just unappetising.

The aroma is lightly tart with a touch of spice and light banana note.

Yum. Creamy malt with a tart wheat note, mild banana and spicy clove. Good.

Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation.

A decent weizen. THey just need to find a way ot disperse that yeast.

A - lightly hazy reddish blonde; off-white, fine beaded, slightly dense head with good retention and a little lacing

S - yeast, wheat, baked apple, sweet malt, vanilla cake batter and lemon citrus cream; hints of pear and white pepper

T - follows nose closely; citrus picks up towards the back end; baked pear and white pepper notes, too

M - medium light body; good, low CO2

O - very enjoyable

This brewer was also at the Borefts festval in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. In De Molen, a fine dutch brewery there were a lot of good breweries.

I tried the Bavarian Weizen because i like this style of beer. Poured in a the Molen tasting glass the beer looks good.

They used a special wheat which gave the beer more tartness. The beer has a nice head and golden to yellow fluid.

There should be some banana in this beer but i could not smell or taste it.
