500ml bottle poured into tulip 19/12/11
A murky dark orange without enough clarity too see bubbles but I'm sure there's lots because there's a massive soapy cream colored head that has great retention and leaves a few thick rings of lace, the foam ever so slowly falls to an island leaving thick lacing well down the glass, beautiful
S floral pine with loads of grapefruit rind, there's some toffee in there with a little grass and faint booze, pineapple with some other tropical fruits, smells sexy and very strong
T some peppery spicy hops to go with what I smell, more rind then the nose but not as intense in other areas, booze is well concealed and just a little cereal
M fairly heavy and quite creamy from carbonation, creams up upon entry and leaves some grit behind on the gums leaving a long lasting rind aftertaste
O very solid brew with an interesting and complex hop profile, booze is well hidden and it leaves me craving another
I'm thinking this one will hit my glass again in the near future the price is reasonable and it went down a little too quick.

Rerate, cask at HaandBryggeriet’s stand at Parkteatret’s "Beer Day", + bottle at Bar & Cigar, Oslo: Remarkably good - I’m upping it a few points!
Original rating: 500 ml bottle, as HaandBryggeriet Dobbel Dose IPA, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, unfiltered and unpasteurised. Batch #108, brewed Nov. 07, BB Nov. 09. ABV is 8.5%. Very cloudy orange-brown colour, big off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma, notes of flowers and orange marmalade, a hint of oak too. The flavour is sweet (too sweet) and somewhat alcoholic, with a substantial dominance of hops (as expected from a Double IPA), but not quite as extreme as I feared. Bitter finish. When pouring the last sediment in the glass the beer becomes extremely muddy, but the flavour also becomes more complex and interesting.

Aroma is citrus, English malts and mild pine. The flavor is fruit, citrus, hops/hop resin, English malts and a mix of mild heat, spices and bittersweet in the finish.

Nice and potent imperial from Norway, bottle from Brewer’s Haven. Cloudy orange/amber in color with lasting creamy, but stiff, head. Hops in the aroma, but even more so in the taste. What a kick! Surprisingly smooth, but with a punch and touch of alcohol warmth.

50cl bottle. BB 2015.11.15 (bottled at 2013.11). Poured into tulip.
A: Hazy. Golden. Poured with great amount of foam, but it didn't retain.
S: grapefruit, somewhat caramel, and sweet notes.
T: medium- sweetness, medium bitterness, a little bit alcohol. I also got some tropical fruits: mainly pineapple. The finish is drying out, which is quite good.
M: Full bodied. Low carbonation.
O: Fairly good DIPA, somewhat too sweet for me though.

Poured from bottle into a chalice glass
Appearance –The beer pours a very hazy reddish orange color with a thick one finger head of white foam. The head, while thick, fades relatively rapidly, leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a citrus hop smell with tons of a grapefruit as well as some aromas of an orange nature. Along with these smells comes some rather off aromas of a more vegetal and herbal smell which bring an overall odd and somewhat off putting aroma to the brew.
Taste – The taste begins just as the nose would have suggested with a decent showing of citrus sweet and hop. A good level of orange and tangerine are present up front with some more bready flavors, which create a rather nice base. A grapefruit hop mix with a little bit of an herbal hop taste are present upfront as well, with these flavors growing more potent as the taste advances. Unfortunately a more vegetal and herbal like off flavor also grow stronger at the same time, and with these flavors taking the taste profile to its end, leave on with a rather off and unappealing flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. The feel is really quite nice even with respects to the somewhat off flavors of the brew, creating a very enjoyable and mouth coating feel that somehow baths the tongue in the nice qualities of the brew while diminishing the rather less palatable (vegetal) flavors of the brew.
Overall – A decent double, but with the vegetal qualities of the brew, it is not worth going to on any real occasion. A tryer, but not a keeper or repeater.
